I know it's not been officially announced that George is going to Eton .. but if he is where will Charlotte go?

UWC Atlantic College?

Roselilly36 · 26/12/2024 18:49

I would assume the choice would depend on where they live, surprised so many are suggesting Sussex schools, I very much doubt that would be the case.

TickingAlongNicely · 26/12/2024 18:52

Hopefully not the local State... it wouldn't be fair to the school and families for all the extra scrutiny, security etc.

What about Gresham? Could make sense?
But too second division I think.

CruCru · 26/12/2024 18:59

Realistically the school they pick will be one that can cope with their security requirements. So not a state school and not St Paul’s. In a way, it’s a pity that the press reports on which schools they visit - it may also put people off a school if they think there will be some media circus (I would not choose a school that I knew one of the Cambridge children would go to).

Bradfield, to join her cousins

But is that not the case wherever they go to school for families? I'm sure nativities etc with the royal kids may not allowed be photographed ? Sports days?
If one of the royals came to your child's class party would security need to come too?
I'm sure some families would love to rub shoulders with the royals but more may be rubbed in the wrong way by their presence..

Yeah they have security with them all the time. Outside though, at a party in a private house.

Some parents were reported to be unhappy at their current school with security arrangements.

Personally I don't think I'd like that. Especially in a private school where fees are very high. I wouldn't like the distraction of security or paparazzi .. the parents in the schools the kids have attended have been very discreet as there has never been anything about the schools in the press..

There will be NDAs in place

St Mary's in Ascot? Think Louise went there

That was my thought too.

Eton doesn’t allow bodyguards or security for the sons of sheikhs or oligarchs or anyone from a rich or famous family but I don’t know if that’s the case for members of UK royal family.

I was thinking there would be. Even that in itself I would think frustrating especially for parents who were in the school before the royals arrived..

NDAs are for staff. Not sure parents at the schools they are considering are anybody's staff.

So the parents don't sign NDAs? That's a relief.. but would new rules be put in place like no photos or videoing nativities/sports days etc??

Wasn't there talk of St. Edwards?

I'd be surprised if they chose Teddies unless there are academic challenges, and security might be tricky given the layout and location.

DappledThings · 26/12/2024 19:27

Local state school would be great. They would massively go up in my estimation if they did that.

Lostinmusic22 · 26/12/2024 19:39

Cheltenham Ladies College if Charlotte is serious and bright ( flexi boarding an option, good location in Gloucestershire)
Teddies if she is artistic and not academic
Uppingham - bohemian, alternative choice.
Sherborne if she is neither artistic nor academic!

Marlborough is too obvious and unlikely.

Downe House for obvious reasons will not be on the list any time soon. Wycombe has a similar vibe, so also off the list.

@Boxingdaymusings Oh, I don't know 😊I was once asked to sign an NDA by a member of the RF's staff (work related): I didn't sign or reply, they didn't mention it twice and the work carried on as normal: they must be used to this.
As parent at first tier schools I was never asked, but never would I have signed an NDA for another family, whomever they might have been. You can't just breeze in and treat everyone like ruffians, schools know that and I'm quite sure the RF knows that too.
