If Prince George is heading to Eton where will Charlotte go?

I know it's not been officially announced that George is going to Eton .. but if he is where will Charlotte go?

Windsor isn't a grammar school area. Norfolk probably is but not much use if they'll mostly be in the Great Park.
I'd think that state school wouldn't be practical because of the lack of security and privacy.

Edited

Norfolk is not a grammar school county. There are no girls boarding schools in the county. The co-ed schools are state schools.

GU24Mum · 26/12/2024 19:55

I'd go with Wycombe if she's bright enough and St George's Ascot (where Eugenie went) or Heathfield if not quite so much.

What do you mean, if he goes to Eton where will Charlotte go? I don’t understand the question. Is him going to Eton preventing her doing something? She’ll go where she was always going to go surely? It’s making it sound like him going to Eton is malicious or something 😆

Presumably the OP meant because eton is all boys. If he went to eg Marlborough, which is coed, it would be assumed Charlotte would follow him there. If he’s going to eton, we have no indications where she will go.

I take it you're not local.

What's that got to do with it? What's local anyway? They currently have a main base at Windsor I understand but that could change anytime. Or are they more Kensington again now anyway?

brown31c · 26/12/2024 20:03

Surely Harry and Meghan will provide their children a better education than Eton?

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 26/12/2024 20:04

Beatrice went to St Georges, Eugenie attended Marlborough like Kate which is where my money is on for all 3 to go as its coed and they will have all the same holidays and exeats.

MissRoseDurward · 26/12/2024 20:17

I think they will live at home and all go to the same school

I don't think they'll necessarily all go to the same school. Harry went to Eton because it was thought best to keep the boys together after Diana's death but with the benefit of hindsight it was seen as perhaps not the right choice for him. I think W & C will have that in mind and decide based on what school they think is best for each child.

Don't know about living at home. I don't think there's room for live-in staff at Adelaide Cottage, so either W or C would always have to be there in termtime, which would restrict what engagements they could do.

I don't think they'll send them a long way from home, though. Near enough to get home easily for weekends. So not Gordonstoun, unless one of them really wanted to go there.

Not a state school. Not just the wider security issues, but the possibility of being filmed on someone's phone as they go about their day, stories being leaked to the press and so on.

Local state school would be great. They would massively go up in my estimation if they did that.

They’d go down in mine as it’s not what would be best for the children. They’d be spectacles in the halls every day, no privacy or safety. They can never just be regular students, a 'regular' school would never work.

MerryMaker · 26/12/2024 20:19

If George goes to Eton it is full boarding. He will not be home at weekends

LeHorla · 26/12/2024 19:48

@Boxingdaymusings Oh, I don't know 😊I was once asked to sign an NDA by a member of the RF's staff (work related): I didn't sign or reply, they didn't mention it twice and the work carried on as normal: they must be used to this.
As parent at first tier schools I was never asked, but never would I have signed an NDA for another family, whomever they might have been. You can't just breeze in and treat everyone like ruffians, schools know that and I'm quite sure the RF knows that too.

Edited

@lehorla so they just rely on parents & the children to be discreet? I know if my kids were in school with the royals they would definitely be telling all the neighbours, my family & the in-laws what the royal kids eat for lunch 🤣 they have so filter so probably wouldn't get invited to any of the posh birthday parties at Buckingham Palace!

Could LVS Ascot be an option? They have day boarding and it's co-ed.

You can go home whenever you like after the first few weeks. Given George will be within walking distance, it’s extremely likely he will have plenty of contact with his parents. Given the situation - this will be optimal.

Eton make it clear that pupils are full boarding but pupils can leave occasionally to meet family e.g. lunch with a visiting relative.
It would be cruel to make George stand out even more by taking him out of school frequently.

Araminta1003 · 26/12/2024 20:48

If Prince George goes to Eton he can go home every Sunday after chapel, their residence is a short distance away. They will have to go to a school that is still proper Church of England with chapel services given their role as Church of England. Sisters of boys at Eton go to Wycombe, Downe House, one of the St Mary’s (the one that is not Catholic, cannot remember). Eton will be the easiest choice as they can handle the security and it is on their door step.
Also with George at Eton, the parents can go watch all his matches, any concerts, house plays etc etc - it is and has always been the most likely choice.

Umm no one would notice or care. The boys are so busy with sports fixtures and extras. No one is going to notice if George meets his mother for tea for an hour.

Boxingdaymusings · 26/12/2024 20:52

Can or do the royal children go away on residential or school ski trips? Or would that be a security nightmare?

Sure, meeting his mother for tea for an hour is no big deal.

William reportedly often used to go to tea with the Queen when he was at Eton.

@Boxingdaymusings

William and Harry both did Gap Yahs

Also they were taken to Africa not long after Diana died it's in Harrys book with a whole squad of protection officers and nannies

Solent123 · 26/12/2024 20:57

I still think all three will go to the same school, probably Kate's old school to keep them together. W&K seem to be far more involved / hands-on than previous generations, I can't see any of them being sent to Gordonstoun, Mike Tindall has already said Mia isn't going to be sent to Scotland or anywhere that's far away. Although Oundle is only an hour away from Sandringham / Anmer House and seems to be very popular.

No but I mean right now can they go on residential or ski trips with their school year?

Yes they can do that sort of thing and yes, there is a security detail. DC play matches against a school where there is a member of a ME royal family and the security team show up and lurk around the astro.

You'd be surprised at how receptive children (and parents) can be to closing ranks for king and country. When a child at school participated in a major royal event, not the slightest, most innocent little fact was ever discussed and no questions were asked by anyone, before, or after, or ever: children can be very loyal and no parent wants to end up in social Siberia. (and that is now the full extent of my no-claim to royal fame 😂)

BellaCiaoBellaCiao · 26/12/2024 21:07

Who cares? Seriously?
