Seaweed? I think we covered that with kelp so I don't think it should count? Grin

Vignoble · 01/01/2025 23:34

Are they fossilised only (Y) or living in the Hallocene (N)?

Vignoble · 01/01/2025 23:35

Clue probably needed....

Wouldn't fossilised be mineral?

rosemole · 01/01/2025 23:43

Ooh is that an AVM grey area? What would an ammonite be then?

Miepmiep · 01/01/2025 23:46

It is a “seaweed”. I won’t count that.

It is not extinct, Vignoble.

It has 2 common names, you probably have something in your home that is made from it. One of it’s names is a misnomer.

The answer might help name it though.

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/01/2025 23:47

Loofah?

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/01/2025 23:48

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/01/2025 23:47

Loofah?

Ignore me!

rosemole · 01/01/2025 23:49

Thank you, logging that info Smile

One of its names is a misnomer.

Is the misnomer a vegetable or animal name (yes) or no?

Miepmiep · 01/01/2025 23:50

Some ammonite fossils have the mother of pearl layer preserved so I guess it could be both animal and mineral.

Loofah ignored 😂

Miepmiep · 01/01/2025 23:55

It’s misnomer is a plant name that suggests it isn’t an algae.

I'm assuming cabbage something or lettuce something...

Not a question Grin

Miepmiep · 02/01/2025 00:01

Then I shall not answer 😂

Ok, I will but I won’t count it, no.

Miepmiep · 02/01/2025 00:04

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/01/2025 00:06

Hmm I'm wondering if you were dead on here and it might be sea cabbage. Just leaving that there

OP posts:
Miepmiep · 02/01/2025 00:13

Yes! Irish moss or carogeenan moss or carrogeen. It’s used in all kinds of foods and beauty products and medicines.

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/01/2025 00:17

HOORAY!

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/01/2025 00:17

I didn't think we were going to get it before bedtime!

Miepmiep · 02/01/2025 00:19

Me too! My last clue would have been I’m just about to spray some up my nose before I head to bed to fend off a cold 😂
