... and none of your expected guests would be coming but you also weren't able to travel to anywhere you were expecting to go:

How long would the people currently in your house be able to survive with the supplies you currently have in the house?

I reckon we have enough cheese to last a fair while at least!

The dogs and cats would be fine, lol. Partner and I would survive on cake, and cheese and crackers for a few days at least. Oh, and I picked up a bumper box of M&S cheese straws too.

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 23/12/2024 12:33

Wouldn't matter, would never comply with with lockdown again.

Zippedydodah · 23/12/2024 12:35

There’s just the two of us and I always have a well-stocked larder and freezer so probably a month’s worth of food except milk. I haven’t bought much extra food for Christmas apart from Christmas cake, a panettone, panna cotta and a beef joint.
There’s at least three weeks of dog food so she won’t starve!

This is a fun thread I think. For laughs.

Lobstercrisps · 23/12/2024 12:36

Quite a few days if I rationed the teenagers. And assuming cremant is one of the main food groups.

Hoglet70 · 23/12/2024 12:36

Ooh, I love the idea of another lockdown! I think we could definitely last a few weeks on the food piled up here. The dogs would be ok too and I drink black coffee so I reckon I could stay hidden until at least half way through January.

Lockdown wasn't funny

This ^^

We'd last a couple of weeks, although we've got more groceries coming before NYE.

No of course it wasn't. But this thread isn't about covid, it's about how long you could make your Xmas food last for.

SexAndCakes · 23/12/2024 12:38

If lockdown doesn't start til tomorrow I'll be fine for a couple of weeks because the delivery is 7-8pm tonight. If it's immediate immediate then I'm a bit screwed.

FWIW And I know this is a lighthearted thread but I am still recovering from the economic and emotional fallout of the actual lockdowns so would not be complying ever again.

SatansBobbleheadedDashboardOrnament · 23/12/2024 12:38

I reckon three weeks for us and pets, counting everything in the fridge, freezer and cupboards. Including the manky, dusty stuff.

KnittedCardi · 23/12/2024 12:38

Well, we've already eaten the chocolate log, so that's a shame. Actually don't have much in other than for Xmas and boxing day ....and our planned dinner out tonight would be cancelled, so we're fucked really.

EmotionalSupportBiscuit · 23/12/2024 12:38

The milk would run out long before the wine but I’d make my peace with that, for Survival.

I reckon we could do three weeks if we rationed the Turkish Delight. There’s just two of us and three of the intended family presents are also food.

We would be ok for a while but tbh I would not comply with another lockdown. Vulnerable people can choose to but I wouldn’t.

We would do fine. No problems.

We are leaving tomorrow for Christmas and awsy 3 days.

I had my Christmas and New Year deliveries today so no problems the 2-3 first weeks.
of course no milk and fresh veg/fruits at some point but the freezer and pantry is full.

strugglinguphill · 23/12/2024 12:40

This would be amazing!! No stress, no extended family round! Bliss

Pancakeflipper · 23/12/2024 12:41

I reckon at least a month (though I'd miss fresh fruit and veg).

Might have to resort to eating the cooking chocolate butdonethatbefore

runwithme · 23/12/2024 12:43

We were cooking for 9 and there would have been leftovers so between the 4 of us I reckon we could stretch that out for a week.
Then the cheeses, another 2 days. Then the rest of the stuff we had, maybe 3 weeks. We'd just need loo roll and milk, and fresh fruit

ItsVeryConfusing · 23/12/2024 12:44

We used to get snowed in for weeks quite regularly at home, so we lived in a constant state of readiness for this. It was always quite fun when the snow came.

Baileysfeverdream · 23/12/2024 12:44

Would be intersting to see how long two adults can live on Baileys and chocolate Santas. Almost tempted to try, for science.

ScarletWitchM · 23/12/2024 12:45

A week! We have our usual weekly shop plus some extra bits for Christmas dinner but we don’t have a massive haul to rely on

If youd have asked me the same question last year I'd have said at least a month.

This year, we are being eaten out of house and home by a ten year old.

Avie29 · 23/12/2024 12:45

hmm probably a month, the kids and OH will be moaning there is no food in the house but they do that alll the time (just nothing they fancy eating or can grab quick lol), would also mean not having to go to big family gathering on boxing day and being force fed my nans “i made it in june and froze it quiches” haha xx

FruitPolos · 23/12/2024 12:48

A lot of fun sponges on this thread.

It's about how long your Christmas food stash would last you, not about the politics of lockdown. Have a brandy and lighten up.

I think we'd be able to eat for a month but it would be some interesting combinations towards the end.
