So who else is ill and hoping to be better for Christmas

I'm on day 3 of this cold feel like absolute shit I got it from my youngest but she's bounced back quick and seems fine now my eldest told me tonight her throat is hurting so I think she's just getting it now. Im crossing everything that we all make a miraculous recovery by Christmas

Those with pneumonia- how do you know the difference?

I've had this awful sort of upper respiratory (sneezing, runny nose, near constant thumping headache every day) infection for the past week and over the past few days it's been joined by a chest infection, bronchitis I think,.it's keeping me up at night with the coughing and I'm having such severe coughing fits at times that I'm gagging and feeling like I'm going to throw up. It's exhausting, painful and just really horrible.

Was really looking forward to Christmas day and doing a lovely dinner for me and my partner but he's unwell with a dodgy stomach (not gastroenteritis but something else) that's very delicate and I'm struggling at times with eating because of the fits, so who knows what we'll do.

First time I posted on here I was hoping to be better by Christmas but now I'm just hoping to get better! I've been shivering under a duvet with suspected flu for 6 days now, it's brutal. At least I'm in my own bed though, I'm really feeling for all of those in a packed out flu ward right now.

Partner is now having a deterioration in his symptoms so he's going to A&E (no car for either of us so it'll be tricky for me to get back and I know he'll be in good hands) but it's going to be a long night as he was in A&E on Saturday as well with something similar. Merry Christmas indeed 🥴.

I hope everyone that's feeling rotten gets and feels better soon. I think it's going to bad really bad winter for various infections etc this year 😓.

@Doyouthinktheyknow Any relief from the nausea? Im over all the fever and flu symptoms bar the horrible cough but I’ve been left horrendously nauseous and whenever I try to eat I have diarrhoea 😓 Last kept food in on Thursday night!

At this point we are considering just cancelling tomorrow and having our xmas meal on boxing day or later in the week (no kids so not that much of a big deal). Thought we were getting better from this virus but we seem to be getting worse!

He's back home and doing a lot better, thankfully. Turns out he has a very slight bowel obstruction, which the drs on his first admission to A&E (different hospital to last night) didn't even tell him about after he had a scan done! The Dr he saw last night wasn't concerned thankfully and thinks in time it should clear and to just take it easy food-wise, mostly stuff that's soft, low-fibre etc, so no big Christmas dinner for him this year 🥴.

Yep I'm unwell on antibiotics for a chest infection and have lost my voice.
Have had fevers and chills since Friday and it's caused my autoimmune issues to flare up so I'm in pain too!

Yes, nausea finally went yesterday! That was from last Wednesday. I hope yours passes soon too, it’s such a horrible symptom to have.

I felt better yesterday evening, went back to work today and have felt like shit again! High temp and a headache and I forgot pain killers! DH to the rescue who reminded me this afternoon I had some in my car, felt so much better after paracetamol.

I do feel like I will be limping through Christmas Day but hopefully with painkillers I can make the best of it.

Hope everyone else has the best Christmas they can despite their illnesses.

Feeling absolutely dire and shark week has turned up just to make things worse. Totally fed up and just want to go back to bed but I need to finish wrapping ☹️

I’ve had this horrible cold/flu for over a week now. Hot and cold and exhausted. Dizziness and Headache won’t budge and I am limping through the cooking - it’s making me feel so sick the smell of everything.

it’s just me and DS (12) for Christmas so no one can give me a hand and I want a ‘magical day’. Planning to eat, have a shower, put my pyjamas on and snooze on the sofa. I feel dreadful!!!!

I was really, really breathless with racing heart and chest pain. Had fainted the night before. Couldn’t walk more than a few steps.

Called 111 expecting to be told to see the GP in the morning, but they sent an ambulance!

We are all ill here. Dh post op that went wrong, my diabetic nurse is negligent leaving me vomiting yellow bile. Ds2 ill in bed.

I'm on day 6 of Bell's palsy and I feel utterly miserable today. My face has been numb for 6 days and feels like it's twisting like a wrung out cloth, and after 6 days of super high dose steroids I just feel absolutely dreadful. Luckily we're just having a quiet Christmas Day, we had a nice dinner and watching Christmas tv now but I'm not feeling well at all. We have my family coming tomorrow, there will be 14 of us and I'm already dreading it.

I just felt so flat yesterday, got really stressed cooking and feel exhausted today. The house is a tip, there's both dishwasher drawers to empty and the dogs are staring as they didn't get much of a walk yesterday. So sick of feeling tired and under par. That's the whole of December I've felt shit.

In think I'm out the other side now! My cough has eased significantly.
But my dd sounds dreadful! Hope everyone else is ok and can rest today

I am still coughing but slightly less so. We managed to get out in miserable weather on 24th, although I stayed indoors yesterday. DH just gone for a long walk, but I need a shower first, so he'll swing by in a while to collect me for part 2.

My virus turned into full on bronchitis (I think!). I battled through Xmas eve and Xmas day but admitted defeat and went to bed at 6pm on 25th and only got up this morning!!

Ive had a crackly/bubbly chest and have been coughing up lots of phlegm (sorry tmi). Feeling completely wiped out and v sad/anxious about missing so much of Christmas. I feel so fatigued, am supposed to be going out for dinner for my birthday tomorrow but no idea where I’m going to get the energy 😫😫😫

My dd has bronchitis off the back of this virus. Hope you are better soon

I am still coughing, but have regained bladder control and the coughing is much less than before...just being stubborn now. But I am feeling mostly human again and have managed some normal festive fun.

I've been ill since the 15th dec, usually a mild short cold each year but this has been weeks now, really runny nose blowing non stop even still, completely choked up at night, sore throat, phlegmy cough, it's been a bad cough too that's given me sore ribs abdomen and ovaries!! Gives me anxiety as I don't want to end up with a hernia

Anyone else?? How long did it last?
