So who else is ill and hoping to be better for Christmas

I'm on day 3 of this cold feel like absolute shit I got it from my youngest but she's bounced back quick and seems fine now my eldest told me tonight her throat is hurting so I think she's just getting it now. Im crossing everything that we all make a miraculous recovery by Christmas

Me! I started with a cold two weeks ago and have had a cough ever since. Totally fed up

Me too, I have bloody Bell's palsy! My whole left side of my face is completely paralysed. I can't even blink my eye, my eye is getting so sore and I have to tape it shut at night. My mouth is skew to one side- literally paralysed on my left side. I'm on 12 steroids a day for 5 days which are making me weepy, and giving me mild hallucinations (kept seeing soldiers in the distance when walking the dog tonight)

Overall, absolutely shit. General consensus of dr google is it takes 2-2 weeks to get better and I'm only on day 2.

13 days in of horrible cold / flu symptoms plus nausea and an upset stomach. I've had a big drink tonight in the hope of sleeping it off.

I had it last week loads of people struck down at the same time, shivers, nausea, cough migraine etc.

To be honest it's gone through work more than covid did

I'm just coming out of it now. It's been horrible, but I suppose it was good timing really. Almost back to normal, then will have Monday and Tuesday to sort things out.

Just keeping my fingers crossed that DP doesn't come down with it, as he hasn't yet. He generally manages to swerve things though, goodness knows how, so I'm optimistic!

Thinking of you all. I was struck down a week ago, and still coughing so much I feel like I can't catch my breath. Have to get everything ready for Christmas vistors, plus a full day out on Monday and just feel like bursting into tears at the thought of it all. I would like to crawl into a freshly made bed with a pile of books and just rest, but have loads to do and elderly relatives to look after (trying to maintain as much distance as possible), plus lying down makes my cough worse. Fed up with it all.

On week six of a horrendous cold and day five of confirmed pneumonia. I NEED to be better asap. I've got the full house deep clean tomorrow, shopping for Turkey, ham and bits and bibs with dad Monday. Full prep on xmas eve for pavlova, trifle, beef Wellington and all the rest and I can't walk up 12 stairs without stopping to breathe twice. I'm feeling so bloody sorry for myself x

Day 9 here. It's like day 1 of a really bad cold l, but every day. Headache, shivers, cough, generally feeling dreadful B. DH and DC only had it for a day or two. Really hope it goes over teg next few days.

Finished work on Tuesday. Been ill since Wednesday.
No outings, no socialising, no Christmas gluttony of chocolates and cheese and snacks, no wine, no sherry, no sequins, no fun. I even lost my voice at one point. Can't do my Christmas jigsaw puzzle because when I bend forward my nose runs like the Angel Falls.

Just got a phone call from dsis this afternoon. Saw her on Thursday and then she said she was hideously ill that night - norovirus? Hoping we're not all going to come down with it. Her lot, my lot and elderly dparents!

Day 13 - feels like everyone at work has the same thing. Ended up in urgent care earlier in the week because I felt like I couldn’t breathe my chest was so wheezy. They said it’s everywhere at the moment. Seem to have stopped feeling as achey/fatigued but still coughing away 🙃

Woke up yesterday feeling like I’d been hit by a truck. Been awake since 2am because I woke up coughing and choking I’m so congested. Sibling, who we are supposed to be having Christmas with, is also ill and had been sent to hospital their chest was so bad. People at work have been dropping like flies. There is so much flu, covid and other nasty bugs around atm.
I’m not likely to make work tomorrow and I’m now expecting to be spending Christmas Day in pj’s having soup for dinner. No idea what I will do with DC!

Poorly since Monday. Haven't been able to sleep for 4 nights due to sore raspy throat and coughing. Think DH is getting it but he will be less tolerant of ill healh so it will be like living with an angry but injured and mortally ill bear in the house 😆

I have a virus with a temperature that's staying high even though I'm taking ibuprofen and paracetamol. I'm shivery and shaky and have a sore throat and cough. Can't sleep.
The weirdest thing is that I've completely lost my appetite. That never happens to me. I can only face milk and yogurt.

Dh had an operation that they had to abort, so sadly pointless, but is still recovering and has a stent in until Monday. It's been awful. He doesn't seem that bothered, but I am inside furious, that it wasn't successful, that he'll presumably need another op in a couple of months, and that Christmas had been ruined by a truely awful recovery, for an op that didn't even meet its objective.

Sorry everyone is feeling poorly, especially those where it has gone on for weeks.

Day2 of a cold-felt a bit rough yesterday but dosed up & went to a Xmas do, had about 3 hours sleep and woke up with the works, feel dreadful.

Am hosting 12 Xmas day, 8 Xmas eve so really hope it doesn't linger

I'm not even 'sick' on the surface, but I'm having chemotherapy at the moment and my white blood cell count is dangerously low. I feel tired and a bit weak, but not ill as such.

DD4 has a cough so I've had to move out to my Mum's house until either she gets better, my count rises or both. If I caught an infection now I'd be in big trouble. I'm not sure if I'll get to spend Christmas Day with her at the moment and it's just making me so sad 😢

Me. Knew it was coming, had a random fit at school on Thursday where I couldn't stop sneezing and blowing my nose. Then it stopped. Then Friday I woke up with a sore throat, then it stopped. Since yesterday morning, I've been blowing my nose nonstop and having to run for tissues because it won't stop dribbling. It's like someone's turned a tap on and water just floods out of my nose!

It's all in my head though, the rest of me is absolutely fine so I'm hoping it'll shove off pretty quickly. Keeping myself dosed up on lemsips and honey in the meantime.

Another ill house here 😔 DS (4) started on Tues night with a high temp etc, by Wed morning he was utterly miserable with a runny nose, fever, shakes, cough, body aches. DH also woke up with it on Wed morning along with a splitting headache. He spent the entire day in the dark in bed.
By Wed night I was starting to feel ropey and then woke up in the early hours feeling the worst I’ve ever felt. Temp over 40, shakes, sweats, cough, body aches and the worst headache I’ve ever experienced in my life (I’ve had migraines all my life so I’m used to headaches but this was on another level!)

I still feel terrible but nowhere near as bad as I did. Today is the first day I’m feeling like I could maybe leave the house. And I need to as work are being awful and I can’t get cover for my shift today 😩 All 3 of us still have the horrible cough.

Yep , we're struggling too, dd spent the night in hospital on a drip with strep throat and I have had the sweats, shivers, achey all over and a shocking headache. Dd sent home with antibiotics and was getting better but her throat started to get worse again yesterday.

Out of interest, how many days of constant fever and diarrhoea before you phone 111? I can’t even keep the rehydration drink inside me for more than 2 minutes.

DH is almost recovered, so able to travel tonight. However I came down with a chest infection/flu on Friday and am still very much struggling. I am en route to supermarket as that's a palaver, but plan to take the rest of the day very easy after a very sleepless night.
