So who else is ill and hoping to be better for Christmas

I'm on day 3 of this cold feel like absolute shit I got it from my youngest but she's bounced back quick and seems fine now my eldest told me tonight her throat is hurting so I think she's just getting it now. Im crossing everything that we all make a miraculous recovery by Christmas

Kids have d&v which isn't getting better, DH has broken his leg and we lost my dad a few weeks ago.

May have had a sob this morning ...

Woke up this morning at 2am with terrible stomach cramps, diarrhoea and shivers, have not been able to get warm depute in bed fully clothed with a hot water bottle - I feel like absolute crap.
Have all my wrapping to do today and was looking forward to the cinema later. It could be worse though, it’s not my year to host so hopefully will feel better tomorrow

I am beginning to feel better after what I believe to have been flu but I’ve got ongoing nausea which is tough. Apparently the pharmacist can offer nothing without prescription and I’m not even going to try for an appointment with my GP because I know there is zero chance so I’ve got to keep plodding on.

Work tomorrow for me, hoping I manage to get through the day. It’s been a week and I am getting better slowly but it’s really painfully slow recovery.

My voice went away on Saturday, sore throat started yesterday but no sign of a cold and I'm wondering if it might be covid as this is how I felt last time when I had it. I'm vaccinated and don't feel too bad so it could be worse!

@TwilightAb same ! I’m the only one who didn’t have a flu jab so I’ll pay myself next year. And the symptoms have been more flu than a cold unfortunately. Hope you get better quickly - and are able to hide away. Tomorrow we start full on Christmas so I’ve just got today to have a miracle recovery 😂

Yup, have come down with a bug while also recovering from surgery. Lots of expensive xmas food in the kitchen and no energy to cook it! Still, counting my blessings esp after reading this thread

Some travel sickness tablets can help with nausea. I've used Quells in the past.

Me, dh and the kids have all had it and I'm finally starting to feel human after feeling dreadful for 4 weeks.

Thank you, have been trying own brand travel sickness pills. Not a huge amount of success but better than nothing.

Spluttering cold here and now toothache! I managed to get a dental appointment and it's gum disease rather than decay/infection so the only treatment is special toothpaste and mouthwash.

I just want my head not to hurt and my face to look like me, not a bowl of porridge.

Have got a stomach bug at the moment, started on Saturday with my back and legs aching, then D but not V. Have had a fever, lots of sweating and shivering at night. But the muscle pain has stopped today, so hopefully I'm nearing the end of it. I bloody hope so as I had bronchitis last Christmas and my son had a chest infection, so we could all do with a nice healthy Christmas. It's killing me looking at all the food in the fridge and feeling queasy instead of diving in to eat some cheese!

I’ve been off for days but today it’s unbearable. Sore throat and ears, horrible cough where I feel like I can’t clear my throat, torture on my throat and chest, cold and tired. Ffs. We’re hosting this year and I’m so down about it all. Every bloody Christmas we get ill.

@laddersandsnakes12 me too! Went out for a lovely dinner with 2 friends on Sat and we were all throwing up in the night. I feel terrible and can't current eat a dry cracker 😭 Gutted I'm going to have to miss Christmas Eve mass and I'm rescheduling our dinner for 28th.

In the meantime DH has ending up having to go to do the big shop this afternoon as he was nursing me first thing. I think he's traumatised! He couldn't even get into our normal supermarket car park so drove miles somewhere else.

Me. I finished my last day at work on Friday lunchtime, and started to feel a bit iffy on the drive home. Felt like shit ever since. Headache, raging sore throat, painful sinuses, a cough and enough phlegm to sink a battleship. Sweaty and shivery by turns. I ache all over and I'm rather fed up with it now. I'm sitting here typing this as my covid test kit sits on the side in the kitchen waiting to be read. I thought I ought to test to be on the safe side. I hope it's not, as I had covid last Christmas.

I have Covid. Day 6 and can't smell or taste anything - I ache, am knackered and miserable

I've got Flu A right now and my teeth are killing.

My cough feels a touch better today but my dd is quite unwell today. Looking fwd to finishing work tmrw and locking the front door for a few days

DH has been in hospital since Friday with severe lobular pneumonia. It's unclear when he'll be allowed home. Possibly Christmas Day or Boxing Day. The Consultant has warned him that he won't be 'well' when he is released, simply well enough to continue his recovery at home.
