I have attended many Christmas markets over the years. They are so crowded especially at the moment as German children finished school for the Christmas holidays. Frightening, my prayers are with all the victim's šŸ™

You need to ask who has benefitted from this atrocity except the far right who are portraying him as just another muslim extremist [whilst desperately trying to draw a veil over his right wing credentials]

Or maybe Taqiyya and nothing to do with the far right.

CamptainChewingGum · 22/12/2024 14:19

why chose a christmas market as a place to make a political point, why not find a cultural setting that actually relates with their chosen flags and causes. It's attention seeking activism. 😓yawn. Little agents provocateurs šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

I bet the AfD are tying themselves up in knots wondering what to do with this case.

Gathering in the streets apparently, capatilising on all of the idiots that can't see that they are part of the problem that led to this.

dcbgr · 22/12/2024 14:20

Would you turn up at a Diwali festival or Eid and walk around waving the Union Jack? Their behaviour is clearly inappropriate, provocative and territory-marking. No one wants a Syrian (or Palestinian, or Israeli) flag in a German Christmas market. They are not there to enjoy and celebrate and be civlilised but to cause trouble. People who can't behave decently in the society which is generously hosting them (and at considerable expense and inconvenience to taxpayers) should be sent home.

FOJN · 22/12/2024 14:12

Depends on whether his issue was Islam in general or sunni Muslims more specifically.

It's Syrian refugees he seems to have the biggest problem with who are majority sunni

But who knows

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expatriate

There is a definition for you . It is not a racist term!

Well if wiki says it šŸ˜†

Maybe you haven't been on MN long. There have been discussions on here before about the use of the term expat. It is intrinsically racist. What's the difference between an expat and an immigrant? Brits are expats, the rest of the world are immigrants.

CinnamonClovesBrownVelvet · 22/12/2024 14:22

Unfortunately isis is what caused a far right back lash.
And the multiple atrocities since.

CinnamonClovesBrownVelvet · 22/12/2024 14:24

I would have thought expat refers to someone from a safe politically democratic country living elsewhere with plenty of funds to support themselves?
AND would be the same for anyone living in the UK?

Zonder · 22/12/2024 14:24

Treetops11 · 22/12/2024 09:40

No it doesn't. Many Brits living in Australia, Dubai, Singapore, Saudi Arabia.or South Africa call themselves ex pats .

Saudi Arabia is a country that is oil rich, has not suffered any major wars like Afghanistan , Syria, Palestinian etc.. how was this man granted asylum & why did he want to assist many more Saudis seek asylum in Germany if he was apparently anti immigration? It doesn't add up.

My sister in law worked in Saudi on & off thoughout the 90s & 00s. She loved her time there, made a fortune, had a wonderful standard of living with a big expat community.

I'm just going to repeat myself for the slow of reading. A country being rich doesn't mean that all its inhabitants are safe, have a rich lifestyle or don't suffer abuse on a governmental level.

Efacsen · 22/12/2024 14:24

TinklySnail · 22/12/2024 14:18

Or maybe Taqiyya and nothing to do with the far right.

Taqiyya doesn't have much to do with Saudi Wahabism it's more shia or sunni

And to keep it up for 20 years?

So yeah pull the other one

I've lived abroad in two different countries. It's only Brits who call themselves expats. It's to distinguish themselves from immigrants.

And what 'caused' Isis if not the war on terror?

It's all a self-perpetuating horrible vicious circle

As the OP has mentioned, she would like to claim asylum in Saudi Arabia because it feels safe for her because being trans is against the law in Saudi Arabia and same sex relationships are subject to the death penalty.

I am sure the OP could give a reason why LGBT people who live in Saudi Arabia might like to claim asylum because they fear persecution in Saudi Arabia. Even though it is a rich country where "all its inhabitants are safe".

18 years. How long had he been spouting shit on Twitter? We don’t know.
Taqiyya is Shi’a practice. When did he decide being a Shi’a Muslim wasn’t for him and he’d go atheist?
Lots of things don’t add up and there will always be differences of opinion.
As a atheist I will say what he did was not something your typical atheist would do šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Mrsbloggz · 22/12/2024 14:35

Their behaviour is clearly inappropriate, provocative and territory-marking
Aka machismo, extreme male behaviour. That's what they do; they try to dominate, to win, to work things to their advantage.

Efacsen · 22/12/2024 14:38

She admits she's not seen the film clip

If she had she would have seen that there were plenty of women there

TinklySnail · 22/12/2024 14:14

There is evidence he tweeted anti Islam statements.
He was a ā€˜known atheist and helped Muslims flee their home country.’
Yet he is anti Islam. Was he vetting those he helped flee? Perhaps it was only those who were wanting to denounce Islam, perhaps not. I’m sure we’ll discover more about it soon enough.
It’s contradictory to be so anti Islam that he attacked a traditional German market. Why not somewhere that was dominated by Muslims?
Maybe he hated Germany maybe he didn’t.
It’s not bias or bigotry to look at all perspectives.

He wasn't helping Muslims flee.

According to the BBC his website was dedicated to helping Muslims flee their home country.
Is the BBC wrong in their reporting?

You missed the word 'former'

An atheist, he ran a website that aimed to help other former Muslims flee persecution in their Gulf homelands. His social media was full of anti-Islamic sentiment and conspiracy theories.

All the reports I've seen about his activities in helping people leave countries has been in relation to people who were not Muslim...

dcbgr · 22/12/2024 15:05

On-line evidence is he was leftist, pro-atheist, anti-Islam, pro-Hammas, anti-German, irrational, rage-filled and mentally ill. Should never have been allowed to migrate to Europe. High-skilled migration can be of value but importing criminals, misogynists, religious fanatics, the mentally-ill, the chronically sick, child-abusers, rapists, genocidaires and people who will never contribute more in tax than they receive in benefits seems to be an exercise in stupidity. Can we really afford our virtue-signalling? Will our children hate us for what we have done to the country our parents left us?

Edited

He probably wasn't all those things you listed in your first sentence 18 years ago.

dcbgr · 22/12/2024 15:09

It appears he was all of those for at least the last decade. Time to go home.

That’s the news for you. Can’t believe anything that’s printed.
Maybe I should read it more than once a day.
It does indeed say former and I stand corrected.
Perhaps he was just bat shit crazy.

Or just a hate-filled extremist. No insanity needed.
