If I like gin, will I like Aperol?

Someone told me it's an odd flavour but I've been given a bottle as a present and don't know where to crack it open or regift it.

I like gin but don't like Aperol.

I don't think it's that like gin. It more like Cointreau crossed with negronis! Do you like either of those?

I like both. It's more of a summer drink for me. You need to be careful to make an Aperol spritz according to the recipe or it can be quite bitter!

Id say it's more similar to Pimm's than it is to gin.

Perhaps get a ready made can of aperol spritz first ( aldi do a dupe) and see if you like it. If not regift the bottle. I like to Make a spritz with prosecco/fizz and soda water

Don’t like either, tried an aperol spritz and it was like drinking hairspray 🤢 so bitter and sucked every last bit of moisture out of my mouth!

Love gin, loathe Aperol. I'd regift if I were you! (or have an Aperol spritz in a pub to see if you like it so you can find out if it's worth opening the bottle.... Even better if you can persuade someone else to have the spritz and you taste it!)

I love aperol spritzes! Follow the recipe - 3:2:1 and drop a slice of orange and some ice cubes in, it’s lovely. I drink associate it with the first drink after a day’s skiing, but we went to an apres ski themed dinner last night and people thought we had lost the plot as they think it a summer drink. I think really you can drink it whenever you want. Is definitely not a sweet drink, more aromatics and bitters flavours.

I like gin but find Aperol very bitter, even in a spritz. It’s rather like Campari

I love gin. Thought I’d love Aperol
so gave it the large in Spain this summer and ordered a big one for myself. Rank is the word. Fuck all like gin and it’s a trend. That’s all.

I like it, mixed.
It is bitter and citrus. If you like gin (with juniper not the more recent sweet ones) and tonic or bitter lemon then there's a good chance that you'll enjoy aperol as a lighter version. I find aperol spritz usually disappointing out as either the wine or the water will be flat, which just gives you a watery slightly bitter flat citrus drink.
It is delicious with tonic and ice: sharp, bitter and fruity all at once.

tried aperol and thought it was rank.

I like bitter things like olives and strong tea/coffee, and I like amaros of varying degrees of bitterness but don't like Aperol. It has no nuance, just clobbers you with that cough syrup taste. The colour doesn't help either.
