What are you buying your late teens/early twenties as "fun" bits in their stockings??

I've got lots of food, christmas socks and make up so already feels quite good... but needs something frivolous to make them laugh....

Last year they got two wind-up walking brussel sprouts so we could race them

Any other ideas?

What are you putting in yours?

I asked mine when they were about 18 if they wanted to continue getting stocking or would prefer £50. They didn't hesitate to say £50 please. Win win.

Ifailed · 12/12/2024 20:52

Nothing, they are adults. What are they buying you?

WinterBones · 12/12/2024 21:01

i find little silly figures or lego mini figures, the mystery bag type things from the toy shop, something to make them smile/laugh when they're put together.

A 'play anywhere' table tennis set. You attach the net to any surface eg dining table and off you go.

Thewrongdoor · 12/12/2024 21:05

Nothing. They asked not to have stockings with little bits and bobs in.

LisaJohnsonsFacebookMole · 12/12/2024 21:24

I put Lego figurines in my parents' stockings. Previously it was coasters that you could also hang off your nose and they looked like silly facial hair. Another time it was giant bubble wands.

Bbq1 · 12/12/2024 21:25

Silly, novelty socks?

Coldandunderablanket · 12/12/2024 21:34

Mine are getting older but the 18 year old has younger siblings and loves all the Xmas excitement too so I do still make her a stocking.

Our stockings are full of sensible stuff and it's a family joke to be excited about it. We then go down to the room for bigger gifts.

This year they have:
Hairbrush
Socks and underwear
Toothbrush
Chocolate
Nice pens for college
Hair bobbles
Nail varnish
Deodorant
Hot chocolate sachets
Natural unscented soap
Lip salve
Small piece of inexpensive jewellery
Chocolate coins

Our stocking have never been very exciting but my lot really love them

loveyouradvice · 12/12/2024 22:05

Lego figures - yes, of course - how did I forget? They love them!!

We all have stockings, including myself and dh

imnotwhoyouthinkiam · 12/12/2024 22:17

Mine are 18 and 20. They've got

One if those multi coloured biros things. (DS1s is a unicorn. Ds2s is a dragon.)
Popping candy .
Silly socks
🍫 coins
Oreo flavoured coke (might be Pepsi)
Hot chocolate sachets
'Weirdo' keyrings (it's a set of 3 which got together and say Weirdo 1/2/3. I'll have the 3rd)
A cloth badge from The Eden Project
Ds1 has a pin badge.
DS2 has a candle.

Dash0Cal · 12/12/2024 22:21

Fancy painted skull bottle full of tequila

Exactly, so do we including Ds aged 19 and the cat!

SereneCapybara · 12/12/2024 22:22

A book each
Monty Bojangles cat shaped tins of chocolate truffles
Fancy bubble bath or shaving cream
Socks
Foodie things

Then a few things specific to them - DS2 is getting a laser cat toy for him and his girlfriend's cat. His girlfriend is getting some cheap but nice jewellery that she likes, DS1 is getting a music score he wants as he's just started to run a choir.

Not doing loads of little tat things now they are older. Just half a dozen presents each.

marmitegirl01 · 12/12/2024 22:22

Always chocolate coins. Always something to make like a little origami kit. Mini Nutella jar and popping candy. Socks and a key ring.
Makes me and my 21&18 yr old happy.
So misery over there can bugger off!
