What are you buying your late teens/early twenties as "fun" bits in their stockings??

I've got lots of food, christmas socks and make up so already feels quite good... but needs something frivolous to make them laugh....

Last year they got two wind-up walking brussel sprouts so we could race them

Any other ideas?

What are you putting in yours?

Socks and underwear
Scratch cards
Chocolate orange for one and Bounties for the other
Some mini travel toiletries (

One tip is just to type “mini”
in to supermarket search engine and see what comes up!

Mine have personalised Nutella jars, sheet masks, and I got a little make up sponge washing machine from tiger! They always have a bath bomb from lush too

scalt · 12/12/2024 22:31

Sleeping masks can be fun. We've had a game that when you pull it out of your stocking, you have to wear it over your eyes, and guess something in your stocking by feel.

RelativePitch · 12/12/2024 22:32

We all have stockings too. From 12 year old DS going through all the age groups right up to my 78 year old DM.
Notebooks
Calendars- I know we have phones, but I tind a calendar in kitchen very useful
Nice pens
Fancy hot chocolate bomb
Fun lip balms
Banana trainer/shoe deodoriser
Speaker for the shower
Face creams
Face wash
A Christmas novel-usually a bit murdery or mystery
PS5 game
Astronaut starry sky/galaxy projector
Fluffy hot water bottle
Favourite chocolates and sweets
Designer boxer shorts
Socks
Fancy shower gel
Christmas bath bombs
Magnet game
Personalised water bottle
A small hot milkbbattery operated whisk
Secateurs
Flower seeds/vegetable seeds
De-icer for the car drivers
Hair grips
Fancy shampoo/conditioner
Obviously this isn't for the same person. Just thinking of the older teenagers/grown up recipients we've got staying this year.

Goatblu · 12/12/2024 22:32

Cactus shaped tea light candles, a windscreen scraper glove, selection box, hat and gloves, socks.

RelativePitch · 12/12/2024 22:32

Those individual Face masks always go down well too.

Mine are getting older but the 18 year old has younger siblings and loves all the Xmas excitement too so I do still make her a stocking.

Our stockings are full of sensible stuff and it's a family joke to be excited about it. We then go down to the room for bigger gifts.

This year they have:
Hairbrush
Socks and underwear
Toothbrush
Chocolate
Nice pens for college
Hair bobbles
Nail varnish
Deodorant
Hot chocolate sachets
Natural unscented soap
Lip salve
Small piece of inexpensive jewellery
Chocolate coins

Our stocking have never been very exciting but my lot really love them

This is what we do too Smile

DH and I still do stockings and he is now retired. Fun isn't just for people under the age of 10!

crumpet · 12/12/2024 22:41

Mine so far have got chocolate sprouts, some sweets, new key rings, hot chocolate sachet, novelty toothpaste. Will bulk out with new pants, shower gel etc. plus obligatory satsuma.

I'm 57 and my mam still makes me and my 53 year old brother stockings, it's fun

TheChosenTwo · 12/12/2024 22:42

Our oldest ones are 19 and 20 and were adamant they wanted stockings as opposed to the extra cash. Their stockings are filled with useful/wanted/frivolous things, they are very expensive to put together but I know they will like and use everything.
I haven’t bought everything yet and I don’t think I’ve included everything but off the top of my head…

dd1 (final year of uni so some of this stuff is because she has a different house to take it back to!)
Ritual diffuser
jellycat penguin
van gogh washi tape
olive oil from delli market
yeti travel cup (broke the top of her other one)
cashmere socks (uni house is freezing!)
Caram bars
swedish fish
wireless mouse
mascara + eyeliner
shower oil
lush body spray
bum bum set
lip balm
hair brush
kirby grips and magnetic holder
snag tights
tigi shampoo and conditioner
ottolenghi cookbook
oodie tshirt

dc2
diffuser in a different scent to dc1
jellycat dragon
replacement lunchbox
water bottle
earrings
nose ring
lip balm
kirby grips and holder
snag tights
shower foam
olaplex set
guitar picks and strings
mascara and eyeliner
sport socks
Sourdough book
box of maltesers
lakrids liquorice (hope she let’s me try!)
hello kitty rubiks cube
friday night dinners tshirt
oodie tshirt

cant remember what else, it might look over the top and there will be more I’ve forgotten - obviously they know there’s no Father Christmas and it’s all from us, it’s just the smaller things that fit in. They have pillowcases they decorated when little so still the same ones.

TheChosenTwo · 12/12/2024 22:44

Oh, they both have little nanobrick sets and a bottle of booze each too.

thebear1 · 12/12/2024 22:51

I don't have much to add as my teen is getting mostly chocolate in his, but thank you for the ideas.

There’s some lovely ideas here. Just ordered my son a wind up Santa ! Thankyou for that idea.

like the nose ring idea too, perfect for my daughter

Onelifeonly · 12/12/2024 23:07

Haven't bought much yet but slipper socks, candles, chocolate coins, chocolate santa, bath bombs or bubble bath, something for their hair, favourite tipple - that kind of thing. Both over 18.

It's the part of Christmas shopping I love most. 😁

cheesepielover · 12/12/2024 23:08

Christmas doesn’t stop just because they are adults… how dull. I’m sure they’ve got her something too.

pollypocket90 · 12/12/2024 23:09

There’s also a lot of people with zero empathy roaming around.

Lego figures - yes, of course - how did I forget? They love them!!

Last year I found one of my adult DS a Lego keyring with a little figure on.
A giant Star Wars dot to dot book.
A Darth Vader air freshener for car.
Marvel Superman socks.
The year before last I found a double duvet with Marvel characters on.

I still put my stocking up and so does DH. Santa comes to my house. We must be on the nice list.
