Probably sounds a bit over the top . But om so pisssed off . Just as im getting on top of everything ik my house. That my house actually feels normal and not like a constant shithole. I'm just starting to feel good about my house.

What happens my washing machine has a drain error. All I need to do is open that the drain pump bit at the front . It will not open. I have tried and tried. Teen ds has tried to . I can't do a call out because its to expensive. No insurance etc. And I'm pissed of because of the fact its over something so stupid . I'm gonna have to get a new bloody machine because of a non opening pump ffs

Rant over. Of anyone has any ideas how I may be able to open the pump/filter please could you let me know.

@I4gotmyname is it the cover for the pump or the actual pump itself that is stuck? Have you got any wd40 spray??? Or a pair of pliers and some brute force?? Mine used to get very stiff. Brace yourself there will be quite a lot of water

Comff · 12/12/2024 19:27

Can you post a photo of the part you’re having trouble with?

RainbowSlidders · 12/12/2024 19:28

Try pliers if you mean you are trying to remove the filter cap? That is usually located behind a flap at the bottom of the machine.
Mine was leaking recently had a Hotpoint engineer out and he used brute force to open mine, he said they get stuck due to hair, debris, limescale etc etc.

Vaxtable · 12/12/2024 19:29

What make is it. Did you google or you tube often they will show you

Onlyvisiting · 12/12/2024 19:30

Pliers but put a cloth round it first because part of mine snapped when I didn't cushion with a cloth.

RainbowSlidders · 12/12/2024 19:39

Yes pliers and twist towards the left to unscrew.

User364837 · 12/12/2024 19:40

I feel your pain
i had one like this that was stuck
i really hurt my hand but I just kept at it over a few different days and eventually it just turned

User364837 · 12/12/2024 19:41

Definitely to the left.
do it with the confidence it is supposed to open that way. Initially when I was doing mine before I looked it up I’d started thinking I was doing it the wrong way since it wasn’t moving, so tried it both ways 🤦‍♀️ but once I was sure it was supposed to go that way I just kept trying

User364837 · 12/12/2024 19:41

And have a towel ready as it will gush out

Comff · 12/12/2024 19:43

Another one saying this.

You can do it Op. 💪🏼

Arlanymor · 12/12/2024 19:43

Cheap pliers from B&Q, put a towel underneath and then turn as gently as you can (to make increment movements) to the left... it will come unstuck.

I4gotmyname · 12/12/2024 20:39

I don't have pliers. I will pick some up tomorrow. But i think I probably need a new machine. I just tried to drain again but it started filling up instead.

I had the exact same problem with the same filter last year. I had arranged for someone to come out as I was convinced it was broken as it just wouldn't budge beyond an inch. Turns out DP and brute strength was all that was needed. I'm a strong capable woman, but that sodding filter defeated me! Do you have a strongish man who can help? For what it's worth, I still can't open it, but DP can - just. Fucking piece of shite!

Collette78 · 12/12/2024 20:47

I had the same issue and this may not work but even when I got the cover off it didn’t help… so I lifted the front of the washing machine up and dropped it a couple of times … it dislodged whatever was blocking the filter.

TheTwirlyPoos · 12/12/2024 20:49

Trying to open it can retighten it. Our Bosch did this and even tho it was our of warranty they didn't charge me

What happend when you try and turn it to the left, does it not move or rotate without undoing?
If its the first then yes, pliers. New machine would be a bit previous, very likely there is just something in the pump that needs pulling out. From personal experience- fabric threads from crafting, Bobby pins and coins are all problematic!

Be aware though, when you open that all the water in the machine will pour out the hole!

I4gotmyname · 12/12/2024 21:21

I'm confused what you mean by

What happend when you try and turn it to the left, does it not move or rotate without undoing?

I need to turn it in order to undo /open it .

It does nothing . Well there's less than quarter of an easy turn then it stops dead can't go any further.

That's why it's so annoying because its something so silly.

OP posts:
ThisMustBeMyDream · 13/12/2024 07:48

I promise thats exactly what mine did. Less than a quarter turn and would go no more, until a much stronger man came along and got it to turn. Trust me, I tried and tried through sheer frustration that it was defeating me.
You definitely, 100% don't need a new machine. Just ask someone very strong to do it. It will budget. My DP doesn't lift weights or anything (and I do, hence my absolute annoyance at this crappy design!). But unfortunately men have much better upper body strength than women, thanks mother nature!!!

biscuitsandbooks · 13/12/2024 07:59

You don't need a new machine - like PP have said, pliers with a towel to protect the machine will do it. I can't physically do ours but DH can quite easily with the above method!

Hercules12 · 13/12/2024 08:03

Hi Op. I’ve had the same issue and it ended up being a coin. I don’t have a dh or access to a strong man but persevered with pliers, cloth and rubber grip things from Amazon and got it open eventually. Will post link for rubber grips as I use these a lot!

Mumistiredzzzz · 13/12/2024 08:05

Doubt a new machine is needed. Pliers to open it, carefully and then clear out and unblock drain. Then do it regularly.

Whatever123456789 · 13/12/2024 08:05

There might be something stuck in it that is stopping it turn. Small socks are always getting stuck in ours and it can be a pain to open. I find you have to open it by degrees anyway otherwise it all comes gushing out.

Line up a bowl or something, open, let a bit out, close, empty bowl, repeat...
Good luck, it's painful.
