What's the craziest behaviour you've witnessed at a Christmas work do?

Years ago there were a couple of (female) Head of Departments that were frenemies. They actually worked really well together but there was an undercurrent of rivalry there. That year at the Christmas do they were friendly enough to start off with but a couple of bottles of vino later the gloves came off - one of them accused the other of giving a member of her team a BJ in her office, she totally kicked off and the pair of them ended up on the dance floor rolling around trying to pull each other's hair out. It was completely nuts. One of them later resigned and HR released a policy of how to behave when on work socials. That was the last year the company held a Christmas party.

It was like a gynaecology appointment gone very wrong.

This genuinely made me spit my tea out laughing.

This is the funniest story yet. I’m literally crying with laughter

I used to work for a small offshore survey company, in Aberdeen. They booked a coach to take us down to a hotel in Glen Clova and one guy of about 25 / 26 was already pissed by lunchtime, when the coach left.

He carried on drinking on the bus and went on a bizarre racist rant about Aborigines. He was from Surrey.

By about 4, he'd thrown up in the bar and was generally being a complete fucking nuisance. The company owner's wife tried to calm him down and he roared, "Fuck off you slag!" Company owner guided him out to reception, where he puked into a big copper bowl of pot pourri.

He then wandered out to have a smoke. He was discovered about an hour later, face down in a bush, covered in snow. Company owner ordered a taxi and paid up front. Apparently, he pissed himself in the taxi and was kicked out at Laurencekirk.

On Monday, he went to apologise to the company owner, who said, "No bother, we've all had a bit much to drink sometimes." He was Glaswegian.

🤣🤣 I used to live in that same city and can absolutely believe the owner's reaction.

I was at one where someone broke the toilet bowl and someone else left in a wheelchair because they couldn't walk.

My mum went to one where one of the doctors gave a young man a blow job in the toilets.

I admit lve thrown up on the carpet of a posh restaurant in the loo before now. Why it was carpet l don't know.

Thevelvelletes · 22/12/2024 20:26

Free bars at oil and gas company dos are lethal.
Remember seeing a few court cases in the New year because of them.

Carpeted loos are asking for trouble! That one's on the restaurant.

About 18 years ago, a female manager who no one liked got extremely drunk and was stuck in the women’s toilets. No one was looking after her and she was spewing her heart out while also erupting from the other end on the floor. I cleaned her up with copious quantities of toilet paper and water as most people were laughing at her. I also got her changed and gave her my work clothes that I had changed out of. I helped her to a taxi and helped her to my home and let her sleep in my spare room as I did not want her to choke on her own vomit and die. She shat in my spare bed and spewed all over the floor. She was totally incoherent. The next morning I lent her another change of clothes, paracetamols and lots of water and paid for a taxi home for her. Then spent the whole day cleaning the room and had to throw out the mattress and replace it for a family friend who was coming over for Christmas.

The woman never said thank you after that date (although she was extremely apologetic on the day), offered to pay for the taxi or the ruined clothes. she never gave my second pair of clothes back. She remained a real bitch at work and even made me redundant a few years later.

Always take photos and keep the evidence so you've got ammunition.

Years ago when I worked in financial services in London, a female manager no one liked got plastered at the Christmas party and passed out like the dead. Staff took her shoes, phone and all her cards off her, she was carried out the venue, put in the back of a taxi, and the driver was given her Amex card and told to take her to an address in Southend that one of the staff had randomly found on google. Apparently she lived in Surrey.

There were several companies having their Xmas functions in different parts of the same hotel. A man from one of the others had lost his toupe. One of our company had found it and shoved it into her handbag, but was showing it around later, having a laugh about it. I tried to get her to take it to reception, but she was convinced that it was now her property. I was so annoyed. I thought that if she had a prosthetic breast and lost that she would be devastated. I am just glad that I didn't say that to her as she later contracted breast cancer, and by the time that she got treatment she was riddled with inoperable cancer.

It did the trick though. A few weeks later, she vanished after being "repositioned" in the organisation. Everyone assumed the shame was too much for her.😆

19 year old intern having too much to drink and turning from shy quiet mouse to telling multiple married male colleagues that she had been fantasising about them and wanted them to leave their wives was quite something.

This was before we'd even had dinner.

Thankfully, head of HR was a motherly figure to us all, and gently guided her to a taxi, never to be seen again.

LaurieFairyCake · 28/12/2024 13:25

30 staff members, almost all male. Went to a strip club that turned into an on stage sex party with half of them fucking each other in the arse/blowing each other.

Obviously they were extremely pissed.

Pre mobile phones and no photos exist.

Bless her. I've always been amazed at how much alcohol some teenage girls can put away and still be upright and awake.

There was a truly dreadful case some years back where a young woman died of hypothermia after being left to make her way home on her own. She was found in field near Perth, as I recall.

Yes, have found the article.

That was such a sad time. I was one of the cops that was involved with that incident

Terrible for all involved
No one should not come home after a night out.
That's happened a few times in rural areas unfortunately with people taking shortcuts home.

One of my first employers had a big do and brought in a hypnotist for the entertainment. Employees were encouraged to volunteer on stage to do supposedly hilarious things whilst under the influence of both him and alcohol. One turned into a chicken and pecked his boss, then pulled his trousers down and pretended to lay an egg on the boss's table.

Three employees were disciplined over their behaviour in the following weeks.

😭😩🤣🤣🤣🤣

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ye gods!

May I ask what industry that was in?

Further to my previous posts in this thread, my Christmas do consisted of a nice lunch. A subsidy was allowed but not for alcohol. A pleasant time was had by all and it was all over by 2pm. Due to budget constraints it's not clear whether there will be any Christmas party next year.
