Went to bed at 9.30pm and woke at midnight, just me here tonight so I can do as I please so it’s tea and toast and a scroll.

this is becoming a bit of a habit waking up for a cuppa, a scroll, and then going back to bed, am I the only one?

Awake here, but very tired. Baby was having a nightmare, I think, as had been very over-tired prior to bed which was late due to Canada Day today, so, out all day and a late dinner. So, got baby up and we watched favourite music vids on YouTube (Beatles, Sound of Music, Frozen, Stand Up Sit Down and some others). Now I can't fall back asleep. 🤦‍♀️😩

Themidnightcuppa · 02/07/2026 12:56

@Mumtobabyhavoc hope you will manage to get some sleep eventually.

It’s just approaching 1 pm here and I think I will be going to bed shortly or having an afternoon nap as I’m in the UK

Been spectacularly unwell, unfortunately, been like it for two weeks now and I’m jolly fed up because the weather is glorious and I could actually be gardening or enjoying it 💐💐💐

Oh @Themidnightcuppa I'm sorry you're not doing well. Are you seeing a doctor?

I am. I’ll be ok but it’s been a bit of a slog xx

How are doing? Hope you are feeling better.

Very strange to think when I first came across this thread my two year old was a newborn and I was up in the night doing the feeds. I now have another little girl keeping me up all night ❤️

Themidnightcuppa · 08/07/2026 19:33

@Mh0509 i’m finally feeling a bit better, thank you. It’s heading towards two years since I started this post. Sometimes I go back and read bits and find it hard to believe everything that has happened.

I made a decision a couple of days ago that I needed to be happier and I’m definitely going to make changes in my life to get that started

That’s a great attitude to have to recognise you’re not happy and plan to do something about it.
What things do you plan to do to help?

Themidnightcuppa · 09/07/2026 00:41

Oh big drum roll! I finally finished EVERYTHING to do with probate. Jeez 18 months!

up making birthday cake topper for DGC’s first birthday tomorrow. It’s supposed to be a goose. Looks like a sort of duck. 🤦‍♀️

I suppose giving myself permission to move on when a lot of DH’s family are still grieving lots. I can’t cry every day anymore it’s too draining. Probably need to make a new life for myself as DH’s family seem to find me an awful reminder he’s gone and I’ve been a bit abandoned.

and to stop asking family what I ought to be doing about all sorts of things and making my own decisions and not worrying if it upsets people as they can’t make decisions

Midnight, I wonder if a group like, the Jolly Dollies, might be a good place to start? Take a look. 💕

Themidnightcuppa · 22/07/2026 03:57

Awake at 2.30am. Going on holiday tomorrow so a bit concerned about being tired. Dave has gone to relatives and the house is very quiet without him snoring at the foot on my bed.

so decided to make a cuppa and flitted about whole the kettle boiled doing some tidying up and putting things I thought I may forget in one pile on the dining room table.

it hasn’t rained for weeks, and it’s going to rain next week, a little, where I am going, just on the coast, an hour from home. I’ve packed two books and am going to sit and read if that happens. Nice it will be a lot cooler so days out will be more comfortable.

What's keeping you up? 🤔

I'm ready for bed this side of the pond.🥱
We've also had no rain aside from a thunderstorm last Thursday night.
It was around 33c today. I kept bedroom windows, curtains and doors closed all day and now the rooms are cool and lovely.
Baby just fell asleep in my arms and I have carefully rolled away. I made a choc-chip oatmeal banana bread and I'm going to get a slice.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/08/2026 10:08

If the last week is anything to go by it seems my brain has decided bedtime isn't until at least 2am. 🤦‍♀️

I'm having a cup of hot orange..

@WearyAuldWumman Aussie here, what is a cup of hot orange? That sounds delightful!

Oh, that was a while ago!

I think that it was just orange juice heated up.

Themidnightcuppa · 13/08/2026 03:17

The 3am cuppa. I have a visitor and they are snoring in the spare room. Sigh. Dave is dreaming he’s a puppy bounding across the fields chasing something as his legs are twitching and he’s yelping in his sleep. Quite cute at 5pm but not now.

for me hot orange is orange squash drink made with hot water rather than cold. Although I’ve recently changed to Orange and Mango. It’s delicious.

I thought the eclipse was a bit non event but just read to see it properly you needed special glasses or a phone photo filter. Just went a bit dark and the birds were very quiet.

OP posts:
WearyAuldWumman · 13/08/2026 07:50

For us, the eclipse was just like a cloudy, dull day - and the seagulls were upset: there was a group of adolescent seagulls fluttering about on the road at one point.

LoudPlumDog · 16/08/2026 17:36

I would love to join in, if it’s okay. I’m in Australia so I might find some company. It’s after midnight here and I can’t sleep. Grief does that to me, for sure. Dogs are both snoring blissfully which is comforting . I just wish it was me. Ate a banana. Ho hum.

WearyAuldWumman · 16/08/2026 18:17

waves @LoudPlumDog

Themidnightcuppa · 16/08/2026 19:55

@LoudPlumDog feel free to join in. Sometimes I sleep well for ages but then it tea and toast in the early hours of the morning for a while.

LoudPlumDog · 17/08/2026 13:08

Thank you for the welcome. Tea and toast is my go-to at night too.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/08/2026 20:21

Last night mine was cappuccino froyo with bits of chocolate mixed in. 😋

Themidnightcuppa · 18/08/2026 01:17

Just had tea and a blue ribbon biscuit. Busy day tomorrow. Annoyed I can’t sleep. Dave is snoring at the foot of my bed. Again.

might do a boring job like tidy the Welsh dresser. That will put me to sleep
