Went to bed at 9.30pm and woke at midnight, just me here tonight so I can do as I please so it’s tea and toast and a scroll.

this is becoming a bit of a habit waking up for a cuppa, a scroll, and then going back to bed, am I the only one?

How are you @Themidnightcuppa and Dave?

Themidnightcuppa · 14/11/2025 01:30

@Mumtobabyhavoc , so funny you ask me that, I haven’t thought about this thread or been awake in the night for a very long time, but tonight I am and thought I’d pop on and read back through some of the posts from last year as I was curious to see when I started it. DH hadn’t long been in hospital this time last year.

I’m ok ish, Dave is back to his bouncy self although I try not to let him be too bouncy and the place he had his accident he no longer has access to. He's very happy every day and makes me smile a lot, since the log burners been lit he’s taken to sleeping downstairs so I don’t suffer his snoring at the moment.

life hasn’t been easy this year, everything has taken longer or been a hard slog but I'm coming out the other side slowly and feeling a lot lighter recently and I’ve got a few nice things booked for next year I am looking forward to.

how are havoc, and baby? I hope life is treating you all well and they will be looking forward to Christmas. Our new little one this year is going to be a tad to tiny to understand but we are all excited for their first Christmas.

i heard my first Christmas song on the radio yesterday, groan, xxx

How nice to read your post and know you've got some things to look forward to. 🩷
This will be baby's 2nd Christmas with 2nd birthday just after. I've got to do double shopping which I sort of forgot about. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️😵‍💫
Havoc is getting so much better with having a sibling, still struggles, but a lot of progress has been made.
I kept both busy over the summer with 3 activities p/w for Havoc and 2 for baby and didn't register for anything for the fall. We've been doing lots of other things like nature walks around a lake, a hike around a local mountain, beach walk, playgrounds of course, and tonight to a light festival with art installations around the city outdoors. The Christmas market just opened, so we'll go to that as well. I bought a pass for that so we can go several times.
I hope having a little one around at Christmas will bring some of the magic of the season for you. It's so lovely watching them experience Christmas for the first time.
I'm glad to know Dave is doing well. He has the right idea getting cozy near the fire. I'm also glad to know you are mostly sleeping better. Sleeping well is so important. Speaking of sleep... I better try to do that. Kids won't sleep in much even though it's been a late night. ☺️

We’ll blow me down with a feather. Been a bit of a whirlwind few week. Currently in one of the hospitals DH was in, allocated his macmillan cancer nurses for, if you’ve got to have one it’s one of the good ones 😳. Had an op yesterday to remove a small nasty, extremely relived it was found on a routine mammogram but im extraordinarily angry about it getting in the way of Christmas and life in general when I was feeling like I was coming up for air.

no driving for a few weeks which stumps my plans for Christmas and probably leaves me relying on relatives whom I think did more than enough at Christmas last year.

currently waiting for the fabulous night nurse who is called Dave 😀 to make me a cuppa! Dave the dog is with relatives and probably being spoiled something rotten and I bet good money has been on the sofa so he won’t be missing me.

Cuppa! Oh, no! I was wondering how you were doing with the anniversary, but didn't want to be that weirdo stalker mum of two in Vancouver asking how you are. 😁
I am happy you posted your news and that you are doing as well as can be expected.
Sending you a non-creepy hug. ☺️💐

WearyAuldWumman · 16/12/2025 09:50

Sending hugs. I'm so glad that the mammogram picked up the nasty.

I'm glad that you have a lovely Dave looking after you in hospital.

Seawolves · 16/12/2025 14:23

Oh Cuppa, this has just popped up and I have just seen your update. I hope the nasty was the tiniest of tiny ones and no further treatment will be needed. Long may your rise back into the light continue, bereavement is a funny old thing and I am glad you are finding your new normal.

Themidnightcuppa · 16/12/2025 23:07

Thanks all. @Mumtobabyhavoc not at all stalky 😃

home now. Feeling ok. No pain. A bit tired. Expect I’ll sleep all night tonight.

dave is snoring loudly beside the log burner and Dd and dgc are asleep in the back room so feeling good about being home.

Hope you all have a good night xxx

Cuppa, glad to know you've got family with you. Get some rest. 🩷

WearyAuldWumman · 17/12/2025 12:26

That's a welcome update, @Themidnightcuppa . Bless you all.

Themidnightcuppa · 25/12/2025 01:21

Happy Christmas midnight cuppas, im on my second cup, Lucy Worsley is lined up and ready to press play on. Dave is snoring at the foot of my bed and the owls are hooting. The foxes were screeching earlier.

Dave got a new collar today and he’s a huuuuge bone, chew thing he loves lined up for tomorrow. He will also get a turkey dinner.

can’t believe this year is almost over but I’ll be glad to turn to a new year and hopefully some sleep xxxxx

Happy Boxing Day, Midnight. I'm pretty tired after yesterday even though we all slept in today. Just puttering here today so far, eating and watching movies. ☺️
How are you and Dave today?

Themidnightcuppa · 27/12/2025 03:24

@Mumtobabyhavoc good thanks. Dave is sound asleep and enjoyed a walk with friends this afternoon as I can’t manage him on my own.
I’m having tea toast and tablets as the pain was a bit much today but has settled with spaced meds.

considering a late night movie for distraction

Mumtobabyhavoc · 27/12/2025 05:46

Midnight, the three "t's" huh? Sorry to hear the pain is a bit much. Do warm or cool packs help at all?

It's a chilly 1c here after a windy day. Took the dc for a walk before dinner to a lovely neighbourhood known for Christmas lights.

Squirrel60 · 28/12/2025 16:31

Nope, you're not the only one! As a carer in a home for disabled adults, I quit about a month ago, but I did up to 16 hour shifts, mornings, days, afternoons, evenings, late night and midnight + so was eating and drinking and sleeping at all kinds of weird hours. I was often sat on the edge of my bed at 1am guzzling tea and scoffing grapes!

Themidnightcuppa · 04/01/2026 00:28

On my second cuppa, I was tired all day, so slept on the sofa this afternoon, we had snow so it was a good excuse not to venture out the front door.

Pain is finally going, albeit extremely slowly, ice has helped and so has some pain cream.

Dave is snoring horrendously on the floor in my bedroom, he’s likely to be thrown out soon. I’ve got cabin fever now, tomorrow I’m going out somewhere, anywhere, even if it’s only the garden centre to buy a Cook ready meal.

It sounds like a day on the couch was needed. Good plan to push yourself to get out of the house tomorrow. 🩷

Cuppa at midnight will keep you awake

It might keep some people awake. It certainly won’t keep everyone awake. Loads of people aren’t very sensitive to caffeine.

Cuppa at midnight will keep you awake

Love tea at midnight

Themidnightcuppa · 04/01/2026 08:45

@SnowFrogJelly strangely it doesn’t. I’ve been doing it for years. I find it comforting and it works for me

Wet and grey here. How about where you are @Themidnightcuppa ? I've made oatmeal for the kids. Havoc's has steamed apple, cinnamon, butter and a titch of brown sugar. Baby is still asleep. 😇

Themidnightcuppa · 05/01/2026 19:09

Brrrrrr. Still very icy on our road, apparently it’s clear just outside the village but I’m not sure I’ll be going anywhere until it’s clear. -5 tonight apparently. That’s cold for where I live. (South east UK)
