I bet the homophobe would wear a shirt with a gambling sponsor on it.

which homophobe? I've not seen one named on this thread

Notmoog · 04/12/2024 17:43

Dreammalildream · 04/12/2024 17:37

Wow you don't have to scratch the surface too hard to find the homophobia on Mumsnet, do you?

have you seen a pride parade recently?
Are you into small children watching fetishists interacting with kids?

HellofromJohnCraven · 04/12/2024 17:45

I think that is his right as a person and as an employee of the club
Exactly as it is my right to refuse to put pronouns nonsense on my work email.

If your religion precludes anybody then it’s your religion you should be questioning.

How do you go from refusing to wear a political symbol to precluding anyone? By your argument, everyone should be walking round with symbols from all religions on their clothing!

pictoosh · 04/12/2024 17:47

"I am sad for the humble rainbow TBH, it never asked to be appropriated for this political bullshit."

I agree. A rainbow is above and beyond belonging to any group of people.

I think it's a pity that you can't display a rainbow for its own sake any more.

IVFmumoftwo · 04/12/2024 17:48

Plenty of gay people hate pride.

It is his choice , his perogative. He's a footballer not an activist .

Agree with this

This whole thread makes me want to wear a rainbow shirt/ badge whatever all the time.

No - not ‘good for him’

Why is it good to be homophobic? These attitudes have persisted in football.

Its the 21st century now - let’s crack on.

Why is it homophobic?

FeelingJolly · 04/12/2024 17:50

I've had 5 relationships in my life. 1 man. 3 women and one woman who thought she was a man (years before I realised how ridiculous that was)

I would never EVER support anything pride or rainbow related.

It's a dangerous cult.

Well he never has. So you bet wrong. But that isn't surprising for Islamophobes.

Homosexuality is against Islam. How is that not homophobic?

You clearly don't know what actual homophobia is, nor have experienced it. But I'm betting you have personal experience of Islamophobia...

Homosexuality is against Islam. How is that not homophobic?

So you're Islamophobic then? You're admitting this?

Soontobe60 · 04/12/2024 17:54

mitogoshigg · 04/12/2024 14:26

Being gay is not a choice! Football has had serious issues with homophobia - wearing of jackets is symbolic to try and stamp it out. Any religion that tries to imply that being gay is wrong should be sidelined (I'm a practicing Christian and we fly the rainbow flag for pride!)

you should hear the rhetoric that some of my pupils say about being gay - these are fundamental Christians who are regular church goers. Not all Christians think homosexuality is ok, and not all Muslims think it’s a sin.

How is stating a fact about a religion -phobic?

Homosexuality is against Islam. How is that not homophobic?

What do you mean ‘against Islam’? Do you mean that people who are of the Islamic faith believe it is a sin to be homosexual? Do you think that only your own beliefs should be acceptable? Let’s extrapolate that further - I am straight, am only attracted to males and would likely run a mile if a female made a pass at me. Am I also homophobic?

Havalona · 04/12/2024 17:59

I have Gephyrophobia. Will someone help me overcome this awful affliction please so I can be a better and more inclusive person thanks.

Phobias are not about people, religion, sexuality etc., they are about things, objects, and situations mostly. There really needs a be a more inclusive term for the O'Phobias now.

No, all I see is deflection which makes absolutely no sense. Then again phobias don't tend to.

In what way?
I've seen no homophobia, no personal insults, no bigotry.
Could you explain why you are so offended.
I'm always interested to see how people think
