We think Morrissons are the best by far. A decent amount of good quality meat.

Bigpinkslippers · 03/12/2024 18:40

Booths chicken tikka massala beats m&s hands down

COOK if you don't mind frozen. All delicious

I second this and also the Charlie Bighams Green Thai Curry.

We don't get Booths dahn sahf unfortunately

Cocolapew · 03/12/2024 18:47

Does the M&S masala taste of coconut?

TheTecknician · 03/12/2024 18:52

Morrison's chicken balti and Waitrose chicken saag masala. Aldi chicken jalfrezi also excellent. Admittedly, except for Aldi's, I usually only buy these when they are on offer or otherwise reduced. M&S curries are overpriced now and not as good as they once were.

@SpeculativeHoumous years ago the Sainsbury butter chicken. Spicier and nothing like normal
butter chicken. Don’t know if it is still around. Their jalfrezi used to be good too.

I used to like their butter chicken when we used go shop at Sainsbury's.

Aldi butter chicken ( the luxury range ) is beautiful and enough for 2 portions

Came to say this, and their tikka masala is nice 👌

Livedandlearned · 03/12/2024 19:02

I also love Aldi butter chicken and chicken jalfrezi.

Prawn Makhani from Sainsbury's is my absolute favourite! I literally buy one every week except when it's out of stock and then I go for the hot chicken tikka masala which is nice. I also love the Charlie Bighams chicken tikka masala but it's pricey

I don’t like any of the orange chicken currys from the supermarkets. M&S do a nice range with tandoori chicken (dry), royal pilau rice, black lentil dhal and butter chicken samosas which is lovely.

Anjum Anand has written a few really good and easy Indian recipe books which will surprise you in terms of taste for the amount of effort if you want easy recipes.

No tbh I just want the nicest microwave curry

Any M&S, followed by any Waitrose

billysboy · 03/12/2024 19:24

We get a takeaway , chicken tikka masala , chicken tikka balti , pilau rice , Bombay alloo and garlic nan for £22 on Saturday and then reheat leftover mains and veg on Tuesday which is a take on YMCA
( yesterdays muck cooked again )

sakura06 · 03/12/2024 19:33

Tesco Finest curries are really nice.

BunnyLake · 03/12/2024 20:02

I surprised myself by really liking co-op’s microwave Chinese chicken curry. It’s really good (although I’m also good at making it from scratch).

Tuesday? Why such a gap?

Charlie Bigham ones are really good 😋
If you want something halfway between ready made and homemade then the spice tailor kits are fabulous.

Another top tip is to get the frozen parathas from Sainsbury's, they only take a couple of mins in a hot pan.

I really want a curry now 🤤

Yes to the frozen paratha - so good!

I don’t buy ready meals, but really rate the Spice Tailor sauces.

M&S Indian range is almost as good as some takeaways - madras, butter chicken, prawn jalfrezi, all excellent

Yes I agree, DH and I have this sometimes because it's cheaper and less hassle than getting a takeaway but almost as nice!

M&S best ever chicken tikka masala
Or
Waitrose keralan chicken fry
both top notch

I second these.

twilightcafe · 03/12/2024 22:12

M&S Butter Chicken.

Cmq · 03/12/2024 22:15

Agree with M and S butter chicken. Sainsbury’s paneer tikka masala is pretty good too.

Ipadannie · 03/12/2024 22:26

We had m&s ultimate chicken tikka masala the other week. It was awful. The chicken was horrid. They gave me a refund and a bit extra back as it went in the bin.

The new asda range seems better with two sides and two mains for a tenner.

I like the Spice Tailor range (I’ve got one in my cupboard right now :). I feel like I’ve put a bit of effort in with these as I still have to cook the chicken and rice, (well put it in the rice cooker). They taste much better than jar sauces (which I don’t buy nowadays). I usually make my own curry from scratch though.

RampantIvy · 04/12/2024 08:00

The Cook range of curries taste like my home made ones.
Failing that M and S is a good bet.
