Whitney Houston songs

Randomly came up on my Spotify list and have enjoyed belting out the big tunes in the car, especially 'One Moment in Time' (am proudly word perfect 😅)which takes me right back to my teens glued to the 1988 Summer Olympics.
Makes me feel a bit nostalgic too, thinking back to a much simpler time and place.

Anyone else enjoy a bit of a Whitney sing along?

Saving all my love for you, is a smasher. I love hearing it, and the video was so good.

ssd · 03/12/2024 15:52

I seen Whitney in 1988 at the Nelson Mandela concert at Wembley, she sounded incredible.

IntelligentInputDarling · 03/12/2024 17:01

Agree @LadyKenya so soulful!

Wow @ssd that must have been an experience! So jealous I'll never get that chance 😥

I would have loved to see that. When she sang The Greatest Love Of All, that is a stand out performance of hers.

I do love Whitney, she had some great tunes. I like You Give Good Love to sing along to.

Oh my goodness I'd totally forgotten about that one, literally have not heard that in years!
Thanks! 🙌
Another not so mainstream track is
the duet with Teddy Pendergrass 'Hold Me'.

She had an incredible voice
Such a shame she had such a troubled life

That's my DH's favourite when he's tipsy, always duet with his best mate 😆

One of my faves to put on in the car when I'm on my own, for a good ole karaoke session.

FrogFairy · 03/12/2024 18:01

I can’t sing for toffee, but I love to caterwaul along to Where Do Broken Hearts Go.

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 03/12/2024 18:03

Moment Of Truth and Dancin' On The Smooth Edge are also not as well known but still good songs.

I’m an odd one.
I love a good Whitney sing a long.
One moment in time
Saving all my love for you.
The greatest love of all.
I have nothing.

But I will always love you needs to be Dolly Parton on an acoustic guitar.

Crunchymum · 03/12/2024 18:04

Love "Didn't we almost have it all" - am definitely word perfect (if not pitch perfect!)

And I can always, always sing along to "Dance with somebody"....

There isn't a bad Whitney song really. But I prefer her pre "I will always love you" stuff and IWALY itself annoys me as I've just heard it too much. I was a child of when it sat at #1 for what felt like forever 😂

WonderingWanda · 03/12/2024 18:10

I'd forgotten about 'Didn't we almost have it all' love that one.

My favourite is 'I wanna dance with somebody' though.

SpeculativeHoumous · 03/12/2024 18:14

I have a greatest hits DOUBLE cd it's amazing

Cos only two of you had dinner, I found your credit card receipt 😂

My favourite song lyric of all time!

ssd · 03/12/2024 18:17

I wasn't a big fan and i only went along to the concert as friends were going. I remember other acts were good but she was absolutely outstanding, her voice easily filled the whole of Wembley stadium.

IntelligentInputDarling · 03/12/2024 18:20

This will date me, (and shout out, if you know you know) but 'Didn't We Almost Have It All' reminds me of ice skating in Nottingham's old ice skating* *rink in the 80s.
When I think back now, the person in charge of the music was obsessed with that song, maybe getting over a heart break 🙈

She did the one with George Michael...if I told you that. I can't watch the video without sobbing! Love George Michael too and can't believe they're both no longer here

IntelligentInputDarling · 03/12/2024 19:03

@Comedycook you'll set us all off now😅

Another gorgeous duet was 'Could I Have This Kiss Forever' with Enrique Inglesias.

So many damn good songs.

I want to dance with somebody. Her first hit. So exuberant and joyful. Greatest Love or Didn't we almost have it all so many great songs but she was a generational talent. Saw her on her second album tour. Stunning voice but that was never in doubt. How she slipped down the path to destruction is a story that anyone seeking fame should study. There was that performance of the US national anthem at a Superbowl(?) It's like a force of nature.

LizzieVereker · 03/12/2024 19:43

I like singing “All at Once” as it reminds me of my first proper boyfriend and the delicious achy dramatic heartbreak.

Also “Didn’t we almost have it all” because there’s a bit where she sounds like she’s singing “Because you mugged me!!!” which is not a sound basis for a stable real and it makes puerile me laugh.

NorrisToenail · 03/12/2024 19:48

Absolutely adore her. All the man that I need is a favourite
