Whitney Houston songs

Randomly came up on my Spotify list and have enjoyed belting out the big tunes in the car, especially 'One Moment in Time' (am proudly word perfect 😅)which takes me right back to my teens glued to the 1988 Summer Olympics.
Makes me feel a bit nostalgic too, thinking back to a much simpler time and place.

Anyone else enjoy a bit of a Whitney sing along?

My favourite is My Love is Your Love

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 03/12/2024 19:53

'Didn't we almost have it all' is my favourite I think.

I’ve had a Whitney phase recently, off the back of watching her in The Preacher’s Wife with Denzel Washington, which I only watched when someone said it was their favourite Christmas film.

Most recent songs that I’ve made my kids cringe while sing-driving: Run To You, I’m Your Baby Tonight, and Saving all my Love 🥹

I have teared up a few times thinking about the way her life went. Breaks my heart, especially thinking about her daughter.

She did the one with George Michael...if I told you that. I can't watch the video without sobbing! Love George Michael too and can't believe they're both no longer here

💖💖💖

I loved Whitney so much. She really had the voice of an angel imho. Have watched many documentaries about her life and was absolutely shocked to hear she had been abused by a a (female) family member when she was young and that her brothers first introduced her to drugs (not Bobby Brown).

No wonder the poor woman was so traumatised. She didn't stand a chance. She didn't even make it to age 50 🥺

IntelligentInputDarling · 03/12/2024 21:00

@MoSalahsBeard 😆 I just sang that out loud with all your intonations 😂

Oh my god No! I did not know this.
How utterly heart breaking.
Her songs were such a massive part of my youth.
She was an absolute legend.

Such a talented man, and from what I have read about him, he was a thoroughly decent human being. Fast love is one of my favourite songs.

IntelligentInputDarling · 03/12/2024 21:47

@LadyKenya yes, absolutely.
Man was a bloody genius.
Another icon gone way too soon ☹️

I love her songs! Some songs that weren't huge hits for her - All At Once, for example - are just so beautifully done.

TurtlesDoNotPetsMake · 03/12/2024 22:50

She is the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. Have you seen the video a mum filmed of her baby watching her sing? The baby gets 'the feels' at the chorus of I will always love you. Very cute.

IntelligentInputDarling · 04/12/2024 07:05

She was an absolute stunner @TurtlesDoNotPetsMake
I've not seen that video, will have a search for it later, thanks.

I’m Your Baby Tonight

fantastic duet with Enrique Iglesias “Can I Have This Kiss Forever” and with Mariah Carey “When You Believe”

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 04/12/2024 18:11

@TangerinePlate How could I forget When You Believe, what an amazing performance. So glad they were friends.

IntelligentInputDarling · 04/12/2024 18:48

I loved Mariah Carey at the beginning of her career. “Vision of Love” is still fantastic album and fully shows the scale of Mariah’s voice.
They were absolutely amazing together,2 divas with extraordinary voices.

Sometimes we forget good tunes or discover them umpteen years later as they were not heavily promoted when the album came out.

I’m listening to 70’s and 80’s radio station that plays tunes that were popular but got lost in the pap served all the time.

It’s a pleasure to anticipate next song and sing along (funny I still remember some lyrics) without being bored with all time repetitive crap.

Dollybantree · 04/12/2024 19:54

"Love will save the day" is one of our family anthems we play in the car and all sing along to. Love Whitney, imo no one can top her vocally.
