Randomly came up on my Spotify list and have enjoyed belting out the big tunes in the car, especially 'One Moment in Time' (am proudly word perfect 😅)which takes me right back to my teens glued to the 1988 Summer Olympics.
Makes me feel a bit nostalgic too, thinking back to a much simpler time and place.

Anyone else enjoy a bit of a Whitney sing along?

I did see Mariah in Wembley during that era 😍

The first wedding XDH and I ever attended was our own- we had no idea. Turned up to the reception and the DJ asked what the first dance record should be. As we looked blank, DSiL suggested Greatest Love of All. If you listen to the words it's really not an appropriate wedding song.

anyway, he buggered off with his secretary 4 years later, leaving me with in debt with 2 DCs under 3. Initially that song reminded me of all the hopes and plans we had as newly weds. Couldn't bear to listen to it.

As a single parent, working full time, failing at work and parenting, I heard it again when a colleague played it saying that they listened to it to give them strength and hope. I listened to the words which really resonated with me.

"The greatest love of all is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all"

That's my mantra. You're not perfect, but you are as good as you can be. Love who you are and stop caring what everyone else thinks.

I love Whitney. Million Dollar Bill is on my 'cheer up' playlist and at this time of year I always seem to need to listen and cry to her version of Do You Hear What I Hear?

I love her version of I'm Every Woman but watching the video it makes me so sad to think that she and her daughter who she was pregnant with at the time are both dead now.

Husband and I watched the Whitney film recently. She had an interesting (though sadly short) life.
