Have you bought a bra this year?

Just that really.

I haven't. Wondered if that is the norm. I find the good ones too expensive and I don't really know my size any more, so just choose Medium.

How often do you buy a new everyday bra?

Very rarely, but have brought 3 this year - different colours of the same style.

newtlover · 02/12/2024 21:42

haha snap!
I HATE buying bras but had to face up to it eventually and bought a pack of 3
stupidly, when I found a cup size that fitted the band size was too big, then when I went down a band size it was too tight (cup still OK) so I ended up buying those extender thingies.

That’s your small boob privilege.

I got a pack of 2 for £9 in sainsburys a month or two ago.

fivebyfivebuffy · 02/12/2024 21:45

Yep, a couple
I only wear Elomi so buy whenever I see them on offer

NannyGythaOgg · 02/12/2024 21:46

More in the past 2 years than ever previously.

I discovered BraStop. Big cup (up to J and even K in some styles) at under £20. Having paid over £20 in the 80s and 90s to get big cup sizes, BraStop has been a revelation.
I finally have more than one bra at a time that actually fits me

Also gives measurement advice

Garlicwest · 02/12/2024 21:47

I bought six this year. Two are really uncomfortable - I'd decided I MUST have a push-up bra; god knows why, I never wear a plunging neckline! Two are pretty and comfortable, and two are those stretch top/bra things.

I only ever buy them reduced, so they'll average out okay after I've ditched a couple 😬

NeverDropYourMooncup · 02/12/2024 21:51

Front fastening ones from Amazon.

A bloody revelation in comfort and support - no itchy back or annoying hooks to trash the rest of the washing <glares at DP>, just smooth, proper support and a doddle to put on when half asleep.

PattyDuckface · 02/12/2024 21:54

@AutumnalBaker do you have to buy more often if bigger size?

It will really depend on what size you are.

Have a look at the boob or bust website - they have a great calculator to work out your size, although like other clothes, not all bras of the same size are actually the same size, so it is a bit trial and error. It gives you a starting point though.

Pinkbendyman · 02/12/2024 21:58

I went for a bra fitting at M&S last week and would really recommend.

The fitter was great, I didn’t feel ‘on show’ at all and I bought the first 2 bras that I tried on (including matching knickers)

TheChosenTwo · 02/12/2024 22:01

I think I’ve bought 3 this year. I don’t have big boobs, more like saggy empty ones and I find it really hard to get any bra the right shape and size to fit properly.
Bought 3 identical ones 😂

DownWhichOfLate · 02/12/2024 22:01

You bought “medium”. Yeah, righto you’re a woman 🙄

Pinkandgreentrousers · 02/12/2024 22:01

I bought a conturve one, very comfy

Ariela · 02/12/2024 22:02

I have stopped buying cheap bras. M&S are OK, but I've actually gradually been upgrading my bras to Fantasie which fit perfectly and as so comfortable. They've lots very reasonably priced in their Black Friday Sale at the moment.

However I can really recommend going to a proper bra shop and getting measured correctly. Then buy the right size.

Winesoup · 02/12/2024 22:03

I have 2 identical M and S ones i bought 2 years ago - i don't bother to wear one when i work from home - 3 days a week - so they're lasting well!

you may have a point

DelilahBucket · 02/12/2024 22:04

Yes. I have to shop at the likes of Bravissimo but I'd put some weight on and was really fed up of not being able to fit in my bras. It made a huge difference to how I felt in my clothes.
Most women are wearing the wrong bra size, even more so those who have been measured in the likes of M&S. I highly recommend Boob or Bust as a starting point. Unfortunately all the cheap bra places don't tend to cater for proper bra sizes. A 36C is not a common size like these places would have you think and having at least a 36 back for anything bigger than a D cup isn't right either 🙄

Doggymummar · 02/12/2024 22:05

Not new, I bought 2 boody crop tops and about six on vinted

EveryDayisFriday · 02/12/2024 22:06

Yes, just some cheap Asda George t-shirt bras as I've lost some weight and needed new bras. Measured myself and sized myself from the Asda sizing chart online. I've since lost more weight, I need new ones again.
