Prince Andrew: I’ve just done a great piece to camera

Gregg Wallace: hold my drink

I've just laughed for too long and too hard at this.
Thanks @StressedLP1

Does he also have a problem with us Scots, seeing he is pointing his finger at Kirsty Wark and Aasmah Mir? And the identifies as Scottish Sir Rod?

I'm watching in wonder. Absolutely textbook ŵhat not to say stuff.

Class might have had a role to play, in that I can imagine the Beeb having too many mc people who genuinely think that working class people 'are just like that' and therefore ignoring or burying complaints.

I think there's a bit of that, in truth, but Greggg is saying 'This IS what working class people are like, we enjoy a bit of hilarious sexual harassment, not like those wokey middle poshos...'

maudelovesharold · 01/12/2024 10:42

I can't imagine Marcus Waring or Monica putting up with that kind of behaviour.

Marcus and Monica only judge on Professional MC, rather than amateur MC or the celebrity version, don’t they? I think most of the complaints so far have been from celeb MC, where it was Wallace and Torrode judging?

StellaAndCrow · 01/12/2024 10:25

And in his video he says that in 20 years of doing those shows "you know how many staff have complained - none, zero, seriously"

Maybe he's discounting complaints that didn't end with him being sacked . . .

But it just shows his total disregard of the power imbalance - how many staff are going to feel able to complain?

I'm intrigued if the BBC even informed him of the investigation thier team said they'd carried out. I think there is something amiss at the bbc and what they do when peoole lodge complaints against their stars.

therewasafishinthepercolator · 01/12/2024 10:32

Not to take away from his odious behaviour but why on earth did the BBC/production company allow this?

Bar hearing about an ineffectual warning in 2017 (iirc) they have let another employee/star turn behave atrociously towards other employees who are expected to just silently tolerate it. Not ok. But, lets face it, not surprising.

BBC really really need to look up Duty of Care.

Because BBC does care about women's welfare. They only act if outed in the press. They have shown this over and over again.

friendlycat · 01/12/2024 10:46

How just how did he think that was a good statement to make?

I'm now really quite surprised at the length of his career on television given what is being revealed. He always struck me as punching above his weight by co presenting MC and I found him rather annoying. Not somebody who needed to be kept in role at all cost.

Thought they only met for breakfast in a Harvester?

Trust me, no eggs Benedict there....

having recently viewed their breakfast menu for allergen info - they do in fact do eggs Benedict now 😊

I think your right. I've complained twice to the bbc about derogatory comments and both times the replied just implied I was too sensitive. Maybe I just have higher standards due to having been bullied.

One complaint was in regards to a football commentator constantly focusing on a players nose and the other was after a jockey won the grand national and the interviewer focused on the jockeys teeth.

JaneAustensHeroine · 01/12/2024 10:48

He thrives on publicity and airtime. The best thing the media can do is shut him down. No publicity. No airtime. No interviews. And definitely no reality TV opportunities going forwards.

This is where the media are at odds with professional and moral values. They give people like this exposure.

Just heard a second clip in which he says - do you know how many women in 20 years of me doing Masterchef have made sexual comments or used sexual innuendo towards me?

Keep digging, Greg 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

No Greg, I said 'Christ you're SUCH a dick'. You must have misheard me with the extractor fan running.

Middle class men are appalling for misogyny and "jokes" imo.

Me too 🤣! Give it a few months...a hastily set up studio in a Travelodge, two chairs, a reporter from GB news. Wonder if Greg(g) can sweat?

NautilusLionfish · 01/12/2024 10:51

"Now, in the newspaper I can see the complaints coming from a handful of middle-class women of a certain age just from Celebrity MasterChef. This isn't right."

We are misreading this people. He means There are only a handful but he harassed many many more. It isn't right that only 13 have come forward to complain.

Shithead!

Compash · 01/12/2024 10:51

Nomorethanthree73 · 01/12/2024 10:17

He's basically saying, "of the 2000 or so women that I worked with, only 13 have made complaints - why is nobody talking about the women that I didn't sexually harass?!" What a cock.

And of course 13 is too many, but what about all the others he harassed who didn't feel able to complain?

BridasShieldWall · 01/12/2024 10:51

I think Greg(g) implying that it’s working class humour is insulting, working class men do not go around making sexual innuendos or sexually insulting comments to women. It’s misogynistic wankers whatever class they are who do.

As am aside I think it’s a thing that men who add an unnecessary consonant to their names who should be avoided, Gregg and Seann for starters.

Compash · 01/12/2024 10:52

I see @NautilusLionfish beat me to it... 😁

Ricky10 · 01/12/2024 10:52

I am disapointed that this has took so long to come out, Rod Stewart especially he has enough clout in the industry and should of gone straight around and asked to see the recorded unedited version but instead did nothing?? has he not got female children? when people let this sort of behaviour go is it not just setting it up and endorsing it for abuse for other people

He has got daughters. And one of them ended up going out with Russell Brand with him working in a skit about him getting off with her and Rod calling him out over it in a backslapping awards do

Russell Brand rowed with Rod Stewart after crude remark about daughter

Singer took Brand to task during an awards ceremony in 2006 after he made lewd comments about his daughter

I always had reservations about him. Wondered what a green grocer was doing judging a cooking show. I wonder who he had connections with, maybe a sexist pal higher up the food chain!

My husband always wondered that. Stopped watching it years ago because of him.

GreengrassofW · 01/12/2024 10:57

Oh dear oh dear...Bye bye Greg! 😂What an effing idiot

Which should stay in the locker room.

Issorryreallythehardestword · 01/12/2024 10:59

Hugh Fernley Whittingstall made a good comment on this today. Gregg seems to have a 'bawdy' sense of humour, and over the years no one has felt able to tell him to rein it in, so he has been enabled and crossed a few lines.

Because no one has ever called him out, he probably genuinely thinks he hasn't done anything wrong, being a self involved little child-man.

Ladies - CALL THEM OUT! I really hope he loses his TV work after this.

justasking111 · 01/12/2024 10:59

Why do studio heads continue to allow this. BBC, ITV, all enablers

Pancakeflipper · 01/12/2024 11:00

Ah Gregggggggggg.... you are making this worse.
