Just that really. Times have changed massively especially with social media and all the new technology in the world, what's everyone missing?

Mine is the late 80s very early 90s. Computers from back in the day. I was a "back bedroom" programmer in my teens writing games that were sold. I've been off work for the last week and got back into the retro programming thing. Surprised myself I can still remember it all.

It was all so much more fun than today and you could knock out games and get them sold in the shops.

Ah, they were easier, innovative fun times.

I miss my kids being small and my Mum being alive and all the fun we had together. At the time all I wanted was time on my own!

cakewitch · 24/11/2024 09:01

Being able to go on shopping sprees.

Queuing up at record shops to get gig tickets. I never manage to get them these days.

Fashion shows

Mostly all the shops. Even when you were mega skint you could still go and look at things, I'm thinking likes of Debenhams.

I miss long chats on the phone with my friends. Everyone is busy and so it's either a quick call or a text.
Miss my dad, being able to ride a bike and being able to stay out late and still be ok for work the next day!

I'm missing being younger.

Buying a magazine and taking it to my room to curl up in bed to read it. I was talking to my parents about this yesterday- my teenagers will never understand the thrill of seeing the new Just 17 (or similar) in the shop and getting home to read it. There are no magazines for teens these days

Absolutely this, buying a magazine or the NME, sitting on my bed with my music playing on my hi fi, completely un stressed and absorbed .

Going to a concert where the crowd weren’t all holding their phones up recording it.

Kids TV after school, comics and magazines which came out weekly often with free gifts.

The music was better and you actually knew and cared who was number 1 in the charts.

Having penpals and cute stationery sets to write to them.

High street shopping, Saturday night TV, when getting a takeaway was a treat not an every day event.

Having to do 1471 to see if anyone had called when you got back home.

Weekends were exciting then, Saturday morning TV, high street/town with friends for cheap make up, getting dressed up in New Look or Top Shop clothes, drinking Bacardi Breezers and going to a nightclub. Those were the days!

Buying a CD and listening to it excitedly from beginning to end, whilst following along with the lyrics in the booklet.

I did this recently and it was joyous.
It had been a long time since I'd come across a new artist worth that was buying an album.
A musical journey unfolding. Bliss!

My attention span. It was never amazing, but my phone and YouTube/TikTok have ruined it entirely. I know it's my fault, but still...

II miss being able to lose weight easily. When young I could lose a stone in three weeks!
