I can't upload it because my mum has it but there is a picture of me at about seven months old sitting up in an enormous Silver Cross pram on the edge of the cliffs in Ventnor, Isle of Wight. Ricky, the family German Shepherd is tied to the handle by his lead. There does not seem to be any brake applied to the pram wheels.

This delightful image was taken from some distance away. To be fair, it was taken a full six months before the landslip and my parents were very busy running the King's Bay Cliff Edge Hôtel.

I think they were trying to train me and Ricky to pull our weight in the family business by mushing, Canadian husky and sled style into the Undercliff to bank cheques and pay the butcher.

There's loads of others including close proximity to bonfires, fireworks, plenty of untethered horses.

Falconry for five year olds. Me grinning demonically at an owl sat on my arm.

As you can see I turned out fine. What's your's?

A little monkey in a fluffy suit sat on my arm at Blackpool. I look terrified!

BelgianBeers · 15/11/2024 22:01

Many many many where as a very fat baby and toddler I am sunburned to the same burnt brick colour as the many 70s carpets I was also often pictured with. I am ginger. I burn in around ten minutes. We went to Spain most summers and never took anything above factor 6.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 15/11/2024 22:02

In an enclosure with two lion cubs and my cousin. I was four, she must’ve been eight. Just your typical Saturday in 1990s Johannesburg.

username358 · 15/11/2024 22:03

Luckily none because my parents didn't take photos.

BelgianBeers · 15/11/2024 22:03

Sometimes we went to the Isle of Wight - I might haven been on the beach while you balanced above😂

Same here- also Blackpool!

SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter · 15/11/2024 22:06

Luckily my mum was very overanxious so I didn't have many of these moments! My dad less so. It's lucky my mum was around or I wouldn't have made it to adulthood! Either way I only have a handful of childhood photos because I was the last of three.

RickiRaccoon · 15/11/2024 22:08

I've seen a photo of a friend's mother holding a whiskey and cigarette which heavily pregnant (with my friend). Lots of the ones in cars -- in front seats, dodgy looking carseats and boots of cars.

AliasGrace47 · 15/11/2024 22:16

None as my mother was very, very protective- frustrating but probs good as I was quite impulsive & once almost got my finger nicked off by a ray at the aquarium.
Ah this reminds me- I was reading a short bio of Judith Kerr recently (wish there were a longer one) & the first pic is a beaming, v sweet 4yo Judith holding a lion cub at a Berlin zoo. Prophetic of her big cat drawings later? Some parts of the US have people who let teens pose dangerously w tiger cubs etc, but a 4yo?

Ivesaidenough · 15/11/2024 22:16

Me on holiday aged about 6, holding a lion cub.
Me aged about 18 months drinking some Guinness from a pint glass whilst balancing on a car bonnet.
Also, leaning over the barrier at Niagara Falls.

lechatnoir · 15/11/2024 22:17

Photo of me and my brother age about 6 & 4 squished on the sofa in between my uncle and dad both blowing huge great cigar smoke rings. Mum & aunt in the background - large perms of course - both with cigarettes on the go. It's a wonder we could see for the smoke!

RosesAndHellebores · 15/11/2024 22:20

Cradled in my mother's arms in 1960, at about one week old. She was in the front seat of the car. Father took it before jumping in and driving us home from the hospital.

Surrounded by pigeons I was feeding in Trafalgar Square.

longtompot · 15/11/2024 22:25

A photo of me, about aged 1, with my 'favourite toy' a golly doll 😶

queenofthewild · 15/11/2024 22:32

Also the Isle of Wight. The land health and safety forgot.

Me aged about 7 on the chairlifts. Flimsy rickety things heading down a cliffside with a safety bar that appears only for decoration rather than a useful purpose.

40 years later it seems the same chairlifts are still there 😱

Stormwhale · 15/11/2024 22:36

Me and my brother being led off by strange men in Tunisia for horse riding. Totally away from our parents, despite the fact that I was a 5 year old blonde female child who had been continually grabbed at and bartered for by men during the trip. They were lucky I wasn’t sold! Apparently I was worth a good few camels and goats.

Also many many photos proudly showing off my sunburn and white bits on holiday. Yikes.

shellyleppard · 15/11/2024 22:37

@lechatnoir i remember similar. My grandad smoked a pipe, my mum cigarettes. Used to be a raft of smoke near the ceiling.....

MrsCarson · 15/11/2024 22:38

Me sitting alone on the wall in the middle of the Möhne Dam in Germany over 600 metres high I'm told.
I was 2 or 3 years old.

ApriCat · 15/11/2024 22:41

Me and my brother and about 7 "tobogganing" on plastic bags in the snow.

On Helvellyn.

BlueSilverCats · 15/11/2024 22:42

No pics of it , but I was regularly left home alone (asleep mostly ) age 2.

One that I do have pics of, being at the seaside , in just knickers. The sunburns!!!

DollopOfFun · 15/11/2024 22:44

My mum talks fondly of those early days with me, her newborn baby. She'd settle down in the armchair to breastfeed me. Once I was latched on, my dad would light her a fag, put it in her fingers and balance the ash tray on the chair arm. So as not to disrupt my feed. Proper parenting.

That would have been a story for the local paper!

'Bonny bouncing Baby Knopka, pram and good natured German Shepherd pup Ricky made a surprise visit to Baby Belgian Beers and family on Ventnor Beach today! The adventurous tot with her loyal doggy pal landed without mishap from a height of 5000 feet on the sun worshipping family enjoying super soaraway temperatures yesterday.

'It was a bit of a surprise when the alsation landed on the wife and those prams can have sharp edges" said Mr Belgian Beers (completely unnescessary mention of his age, what he does for a living and the town he comes from) but we laughed it off and the two girls were soon playing sandcastles together.

Picture of everybody in the hôtel bar, my mother trying to look demure with a gin and tonic.

To stay at the Kings Bay Hotel, Niall and Valérie offer a double room with half board including full English breakfast for...

Nothing wrong with that. An owl won't hurt you!

distinctpossibility · 15/11/2024 22:49

I don't have a photo of it but vivid memories of my dad coming home from the beach without my two younger brothers, who were 3 and 6 at the time. They'd gone back to play at the holiday cottage up the road belonging to a nice fella my dad had got chatting to. (Luckily, he was ostensibly an actual nice fella, but BLOODY HELL. I'm only 36 so this was not that long ago.)

I have a treasured photo of me and my two brothers sitting in a wheelbarrow whilst our grandad pushes us down the garden path. He has a cigarette hanging out of his mouth. Smoking outside isn't as bad as inside. He used to do that too. My brothers used to sit either side of him on the sofa and take it in turns to light his cigarette or his pipe. He used to give us lager shandies to drink too. We were at Primary school.

The damn was 40 metres high. 650 metres long...

But still too high for an unsupervised toddler!
