I literally don’t know whether to laugh or be like oh my God in shock!, I literally can’t stop laughing. This is a guy who said a few years ago that fluoride makes people gay apparently one of the first things he’s gonna do is remove fluoride from water which the dental association says isn’t wise.
He is also a conspiracy nut very much anti-vaccine and really not the person you put in front of public health which can affect everybody as we have just seen in the last pandemic.
I honestly don’t know if Donald Trump is agreeing with him or just trolling people at this stage because on top of that…
The former Republican House speaker Kevin McCarthy is predicting that Donald Trump’s nomination of Matt Gaetz as attorney general so you know head of legal justice etc will be rejected by the Republican Senate next year. This is because what I am hearing is he is under investigation himself for allegedly child abuse, accessing porn in congress and attacking a woman.
so I ask again is trump trolling us?

@ItsAllAboutTheBass7 so what vaccines are those?

RamblingEclectic · 15/11/2024 10:09

Not surprising with how their views align on so many things. It is concerning, though much like Trump, quite a few things he claims he can do aren't really in his power (and I think may get some pushback from Republicans in congress to do so with their view on overstepping federal powers).

And I'm also that not concerned about fluroide, though it may result like in parts of the UK without it that those of us with weaker teeth for medical reasons will have prescription strength (mine clearly states it can't be given in areas with fluoride in the water). That will be much more expensive for our counterparts in the US, though as already said, many already are in that boat.

it was mentioned when RFK jnr left the presidential election

While widely reported as such, RFK only left the ballot on current and previous battleground states. He actually came fourth nationally, after Jill Stein of the Green Party.

God help America because Donald Trump won’t. He only helps himself 🤬

He isn't anti vaccine though if you listen to his speeches. He wants cleaner, healthy food and only necessary vaccines. Plus it should be a personal choice.

No, vaccines are not a personal choice because diseases are infectious.🙄If you want to die of polio, be my guest. You dont get to infect me.
And he is anti vaccine. He said the polio vaccine killed more people than it saved. Look it up.

Notonthestairs · 15/11/2024 10:13

Kennedy has insisted that he is not anti-vaccine, saying he only wants vaccines to be rigorously tested, but he also has shown opposition to a wide range of immunizations. Kennedy said in a 2023 podcast interview that “There’s no vaccine that is safe and effective” and told Fox News that he still believes in the long-ago debunked idea that vaccines can cause autism. In a 2021 podcast he urged people to “resist” CDC guidelines on when kids should get vaccines.

I can't wait to see Trump change America for the better.
Illegal immigrants- goodbye.
Big fat cat pharma - goodbye.
Woke - goodbye
Unnecessary vaccines- goodbye.
Bent politicians- goodbye.
Exorbitant food and gas prices - goodbye.

I think a lot of people will be eating their words when America is made great and prospering once again 👌

Onand · 15/11/2024 10:14

Whatever happens in the US will eventually come here, the reach of social media is so vast now that new ideologies and attitudes are being deployed real-time and will soon be deemed reasonable to our young people. Just watch.

It’s a car crash to us who knew the world before, it’ll be the norm for those that didn’t.

Whether the US will catapult to the stratosphere with huge success or it becomes a dystopian black mirror nightmare- either way it sets the tone for the West whether we like it or not.

Suspect finding out how tariffs actually work will be more likely to put them off.

I think they are a big stick to wave that if implemented will hurt their economy and they will realised in end how they work.

I think poor less well educated american will rediscover why we have vaccines and how great they are and well off will mostly still get them. If they have major outbreaks they may well find they face travel restrictions or more hoops for few who travel.

I do think they have food quality issues but until the change the stance from prove it's harmful to prove it safe and they counter lobby money they won't see any changes however much they want them.

Trump either did or tried to do what he said last time - however batshit - can't be a surprise he'll try and do the same this and the USA population voted him in so they must want it.

You say goodbye to unnecessary vaccines - what are the rules in America? Are vaccines compulsory, eg for attending school? Are people not already able to turn down any vaccines they consider unnecessary?

MrsFinkelstein · 15/11/2024 12:23

I'd be interested to know what vaccines are deemed unnecessary?

Polio? MMR? Whooping cough? Meningitis? Diptheria? Hepatitis? TB?

I'm assuming (as in the UK) that flu & COVID are optional.

So what vaccines are unnecessary?

DemonicCaveMaggot · 15/11/2024 12:33

Koala I don't know about other school districts but ours in Alabama required proof of vaccination before children could be enrolled in school. Parents weren't allowed to volunteer unless they had taken a TB test or had the TB vaccine. The vaccines had to be kept up to date as well. The local department of health kept the vaccination records and we had to show them before enrolling the DC in middle and high school.

DemonicCaveMaggot · 15/11/2024 12:41

Interestingly enough all the Trump supporters whining about the COVID vaccine conveniently overlook that it was rushed through on Trump's watch as project 'Warp speed'.

Other childhood vaccines have been around for decades. Yes, there can be side effects, but the risk outweighs the benefits as for every medical treatment.

Havalona · 15/11/2024 12:42

Big Pharma in the US must not have contributed to Trump's election fund.

Littlemissgobby · 15/11/2024 12:50

DemonicCaveMaggot · 15/11/2024 10:00

He will be in charge of a lot of medical research funding as head of NIH. If he interferes with that it could set US research back years. When they lose funding effective teams formed of experienced people will break up, many will move abroad. Reforming those teams in four or five years will be difficult or impossible and a lot of interrupted research will be lost.

He is likely to interfere in US childhood vaccine programs. One of my friends is partially sighted and partially deaf due to measles. My sister's immune system was compromised after getting measles. Boys and men who get mumps can become sterile. Chicken pox leaves people liable to developing shingles as adults. I am so glad I no longer live in the US or have children in the US education system because a lot of these 'childhood' diseases can be unpredictable in their outcomes. Mass vaccination mitigates and prevents these outcomes and herd immunity protects those children who can't be vaccinated.

My DC's school district was adamant about testing and vaccinating for TB before attending or volunteering in schools and I suspect other school districts are similarly careful. DH and I had to have x-rays to prove we weren't suffering from TB before being allowed permanent residency in the US. Now antibiotic strains of TB are arising I am worried that TB could become endemic if he interferes in those sort of programs.

And the new Secretary of Defense doesn't believe in germs because he can't see them.

I said above but I believe it's a great opportunity for our country. The UK we haven't got much growth. I really think. The labour party needs to start courting these big pharmaceutical companies and try to offer them really good deals

I agree with you @ItsAllAboutTheBass7 but lots of people on mnet get all their news from bbc/Guardian and have drunk the koolaid. Terrible growth figures have just been announced for the UK since Labour got in (we had fastest growth at beginning of the year) as surprisingly taxing business and making everyone feel depressed is not good for growth. And now Labour want to get closer to low growth EU having insulted the next leader of high growth US .

RitaIncognita · 15/11/2024 12:59

Are vaccines compulsory, eg for attending school?

Generally speaking, yes. Each state sets its own requirements, and there are some individual exemptions.

You're wrong about the vaccines.

Shall I tell the 2x people I know who had family members die BECAUSE of the vaccine?

I was pro vaccine before covid. Never missed a vaccine in my life. Now I wouldn't have one if you paid me.

I'm glad trump is in, hopefully will dilute some of this woke bollox.

Are vaccines woke now?😱
