I literally don’t know whether to laugh or be like oh my God in shock!, I literally can’t stop laughing. This is a guy who said a few years ago that fluoride makes people gay apparently one of the first things he’s gonna do is remove fluoride from water which the dental association says isn’t wise.
He is also a conspiracy nut very much anti-vaccine and really not the person you put in front of public health which can affect everybody as we have just seen in the last pandemic.
I honestly don’t know if Donald Trump is agreeing with him or just trolling people at this stage because on top of that…
The former Republican House speaker Kevin McCarthy is predicting that Donald Trump’s nomination of Matt Gaetz as attorney general so you know head of legal justice etc will be rejected by the Republican Senate next year. This is because what I am hearing is he is under investigation himself for allegedly child abuse, accessing porn in congress and attacking a woman.
so I ask again is trump trolling us?

Good plan, lets take a Tennis players advice on medical matters rather than an actual scientist - maybe you should consider a move to The US next January, sounds like you might fit right in

Neolara · 15/11/2024 08:56

I'm wondering how non-MAGA Trump voters in the States are viewing these appointments.

Trump appears to be doing exactly what he said he would do. The podcasts I listened to before the election seemed to suggest lots of Republican voters didn't really believe he would follow through which is why they weren't put off by what he said.

Presumably not that many people are in favour of the entire system for American justice being run by someone who was being investigated for sex trafficking and sexual misconduct.

And if you work for or receive services through any government department, presumably you might feel pretty apprehensive about Musk taking the same slash and burn approach he used on X / Twitter. I mean, it didn't t worked out brilliantly there for either employees or users.

As you can see from this thread, RFK Jr has plenty of support from the anti sciencers and anecdata lovers.

Vaccines are woke. Now I have heard it all.

Very much this

In the next pandemic, Americans should be banned from travelling and not people from India or various African countries.

crumblingschools · 15/11/2024 09:07

Are some of the posters on here the standard of Trump voters?

He's not just anti the covid vaccine. It's all vaccines that he claims haven't been properly studied for their safety.

He's an idiot.

HowardTJMoon · 15/11/2024 09:12

He's not just an idiot, he's a rabid conspiracy theorist. Although I suppose that's a bit of a tautology.

Lentilweaver · 15/11/2024 09:13

From his lofty perch in Martha's Vineyard, RFK Jr thinks measles and polio vaccines cause autism.

Meanwhile in Pakistan and India rural women are walking miles to get these vaccines so their children don't die.

hazelnutlatte · 15/11/2024 09:22

Vaccines are woke! I've heard it all now.
I'm genuinely worried about how this is all going to play out though. If the government themselves are the conspiracy theorists how can the nation actually function?

MrsFinkelstein · 15/11/2024 09:23

RFK Jr has admitted he has a brain worm that has destroyed part of his brain tissue.

He transported a dead bear across state lines and dumped it in Central Park. He's also decapitated a whales head and transported it across state lines. Both of these for the "funz".

Trump voters are getting exactly what they voted for and I have zero sympathy for them. I hope America survives this, but they're not the first country to flirt with and then embrace fascism. It'll just take them decades to recover.

BackinBlack24 · 15/11/2024 09:30

Have you listened to trump on Joe Rogen it's interesting he actually brings up RFK

GoldenPheasant · 15/11/2024 09:32

clarkkentsglasses · 15/11/2024 02:44

You're wrong about the vaccines.

Shall I tell the 2x people I know who had family members die BECAUSE of the vaccine?

I was pro vaccine before covid. Never missed a vaccine in my life. Now I wouldn't have one if you paid me.

I'm glad trump is in, hopefully will dilute some of this woke bollox.

Knowing that vaccines work isn't being woke, it's just knowing facts. You only have to look at the statistics or, indeed, work in the NHS to know how effective Covid vaccines were and are.

GoldenPheasant · 15/11/2024 09:34

gamerchick · 15/11/2024 08:32

Still a chunk of kids dying of preventable diseases from the past should focus the minds a bit. Probably.

Well, yes. But if I were a parent of young children in the US now, I would be very very scared.

CollisionCourse · 15/11/2024 09:36

He is an attention seeker - even being the potus and the most famous/notorious character in a generation is not enough, it's never enough for him he just needs to shock for his personal gratification and doesn't even think about the consequences.

louddumpernoise · 15/11/2024 09:37

Yes have to look at the overall benefit of vaccines, not just focus in on vaccine attributed deaths, which are extremely rare.

But its up to the US, they ve made their choices.

For us in Europe, his choice of National Security Director is far far more worrying.

GoldenPheasant · 15/11/2024 09:37

I wonder whether Trump and Kennedy between them will try to bring in the injecting bleach cure? So long as they're the first volunteers for it, I'm fine with that.

I get that you are against vaccines (all of them?), and that's your right to hold that opinion, I think the opposite. I'm not disputing that rarely people are harmed by vaccines, but you do not know of two people who died because of a vaccine. Don't over egg your point it makes people roll their eyes and write off any reasonable point you might have had.

I don’t think they will, organise cures for anyone. They plan to strip government departments bare for “efficiency” and Americans will probably have to fend for themselves in the next pandemic. They would probably be encouraged to buy the bleach and ivermectin privately from profit making businesses.

Startingagainandagain · 15/11/2024 09:51

I was wondering when I saw this: if people in the US no longer vaccine their kids or use covid vaccines would that mean that US citizens are refused entry in other countries in the future?

I wonder if the clowns appointed by Trump to 'look after' the nation's health have thought about this...

MorrisZapp · 15/11/2024 09:52

RFK is a great looking guy with Kennedy in his name, who also happens to rock the manly bare chested look. He's catnip to Americans who think that appearance is more important than knowledge, experience or ability. They've had enough of all that and now want randoms to pilot in and shake everything up.

Trump will sack them all soon enough but the headlines are going to go from sublime to insane as it plays out.

DemonicCaveMaggot · 15/11/2024 10:00

He will be in charge of a lot of medical research funding as head of NIH. If he interferes with that it could set US research back years. When they lose funding effective teams formed of experienced people will break up, many will move abroad. Reforming those teams in four or five years will be difficult or impossible and a lot of interrupted research will be lost.

He is likely to interfere in US childhood vaccine programs. One of my friends is partially sighted and partially deaf due to measles. My sister's immune system was compromised after getting measles. Boys and men who get mumps can become sterile. Chicken pox leaves people liable to developing shingles as adults. I am so glad I no longer live in the US or have children in the US education system because a lot of these 'childhood' diseases can be unpredictable in their outcomes. Mass vaccination mitigates and prevents these outcomes and herd immunity protects those children who can't be vaccinated.

My DC's school district was adamant about testing and vaccinating for TB before attending or volunteering in schools and I suspect other school districts are similarly careful. DH and I had to have x-rays to prove we weren't suffering from TB before being allowed permanent residency in the US. Now antibiotic strains of TB are arising I am worried that TB could become endemic if he interferes in those sort of programs.

And the new Secretary of Defense doesn't believe in germs because he can't see them.

ItsAllAboutTheBass7 · 15/11/2024 10:04

He isn't anti vaccine though if you listen to his speeches. He wants cleaner, healthy food and only necessary vaccines. Plus it should be a personal choice.
