How many families do you know that have been to Lapland?

I think it’s got more popular over the years.

I don't know of anyone who has been to Lapland.

Imicola · 10/11/2024 17:18

About 4 that I'm aware of. Seems a ridiculously expensive and wasteful thing to me, but perhaps I'm just a stooge.

Pinksmyfavoritecolour · 10/11/2024 17:19

2, both said it was amazing.
Hope to go when we have grandchildren

Wigtopia · 10/11/2024 17:19

Lapland - yes
Tourist village in Lapland - no

Muchtoomuchtodo · 10/11/2024 17:20

None.

There were some people flying out for the day at Birmingham airport when we were there last December.

It seemed a very long (and expensive) day from our chat in the (massive) queue for security!

StillAtTheRestaurant · 10/11/2024 17:20

None.

WhatASadLittleLifeJayne · 10/11/2024 17:21

1 that I know of. Maybe more, it’s not really a subject that comes up much tbh! 😄

GrumpyCactus · 10/11/2024 17:21

I don't know any parents that have been to Lapland. Lapland experience in the UK yes but not actual Lapland, it's extortionately expensive.

CollisionCourse · 10/11/2024 17:22

Three.

Lilacbloomers · 10/11/2024 17:24

None

GameOfJones · 10/11/2024 17:28

None. I know a couple of friends have considered it but not booked.

Linnet · 10/11/2024 17:32

My daughter’s friend went a couple of times with her family and my sister took her kids once.

LizzieVeraker · 10/11/2024 17:33

1, I think they enjoyed it.

One I think that saw FC. She plastered it all over Facebook, that's how I know. No one else has ever said.

Oh I know two adult couples that went to stay in the ice hotel as a bucket lost item. That might have been lapland too? Not sure. They didn't do FC

ZaraSpellman · 10/11/2024 17:36

We went to Lapland skiing in January before we had a child but did lots of the excursions it was amazing and would love to go again with DS

sunshineandshowers40 · 10/11/2024 17:37

I know of a couple, but my DC are older so this would have been around 5-7 years ago.

Autumndayz77 · 10/11/2024 17:40

I’ve been with my best friend - loved it and hope to go back. We stayed 3 nights I think maybe 4.

i know of 3 others that ‘holidayed’ and 2 that have day tripped

crosstalk · 10/11/2024 17:46

None, but I'm not sure why you're asking? you're not going to get a statistically reliable cross section on which to base a decision.

Jessie1259 · 10/11/2024 17:58

I don't know anyone apart from us. We've been to Swedish lapland (Kiruna), Norwegian lapland (Tromso) and this year we're going to Finnish lapland (Rovaniemi). Scandinavia isn't cheap but t's doable if you don't do the whole tourist package to Santa or stay in a glass igloo. We get cheapish flights, use local transport, stay in Airbnb's and get some of our food at the supermarket. We have visited Ice hotels, husky sleighed, fed reindeer/eaten reindeer, gone aurora hunting and done some fantastic sledging. It's pretty magical but I wouldn't spend thousands for a couple of days on the package tours personally.

Gizlotsmum · 10/11/2024 18:03

We have and I know 2 others who have. We did it without a package ( air b and b, hired a car, flights and all trips booked separately) we did a lot of shorter tasters, and brought ticket direct. We all want to go back but this time without all the Santa bits
