What do/would you immediately rebuy if it broke?

My Kindle had been dying for a few days. When I’d tried everything to revive it and worked out that it wasn’t going to get better, I waited, ooh, two whole hours before ordering a new one.
It feels as essential to me as a kettle or a toaster.
What’s on your MUST GET A NEW ONE NOW! list?

Magnified mirror - I can't see my own face properly without it due to poor vision.

Tiny cheese grater that I got out of a Christmas cracker - it's perfect for grating garlic.

Heated Clothes airer - if it broke in the winter I'd have to replace it asap.

Dishwasher & washing machine.
Makes me sound like I'm chained to the housework, but in reality I avoid it as much as I can, hence these two would be replaced IMMEDIATELY. The difference they make to my life is unsurpassable Grin

My night guard for my teeth because I grind them. Stayed away overnight and unpacked them this evening only to find it had snapped!
Within 5 minutes I was in the car to dash to Sports Direct (before they closed) for a sports gumshield- I can't even close my mouth properly with it in but it will have to do until I can get a new one. Luckily DP is unfazed that he will be going to bed with someone who looks like they're ready for a boxing match.

I am a total convert to Grind No More by Plackers- they come in packs of ten, work beautifully - I used to remove my custom nightguard in my sleep 🙄- I wash them and reuse them and they last for ages.

Yes Kindle for sure. Also DD’s Yoto player, and the French Press.

I’ve gone for weeks using my SIM card in the family dumbphone, The one my kids got as punishment.
But the iPad was replaced the same day.

TribulationPeriwinkle · 10/11/2024 19:06

A couple of people have said they’d replace their iPads before their smartphones, which I find intriguing. I’m the opposite - I’d replace my phone instantly for calls and WhatsApp, whereas I’d be fine without my iPad for a bit.

Also my Kindle. It’s a Paperwhite and they are the dog’s bollocks.

You can easily install WhatsApp on your laptop (in advance of losing your iphone as you need the phone to install). My granddaughter had her phone stolen abroad and really needed to use WhatsApp .... She didn't know she could have had it on her laptop. Now installed!

TribulationPeriwinkle · 11/11/2024 21:22

It’s such a pain that you can’t use WhatsApp on an iPad, though. I use it on my work laptop but my own laptop is too old and creaky to cope with it.
