My Kindle had been dying for a few days. When I’d tried everything to revive it and worked out that it wasn’t going to get better, I waited, ooh, two whole hours before ordering a new one.
It feels as essential to me as a kettle or a toaster.
What’s on your MUST GET A NEW ONE NOW! list?

Teasmaid
Heated blanket
Really good Thermo mug
My amazing silicone spatula

My simple human light up mirror is playing up so I bought a new one today. I need it with my dodgy eyes.

Oh, me too! Mine got smashed, I looked around for a cheaper replacement, couldn’t find anything as good so shelled out for another. I really need it for getting ready on those dark winter mornings.

Dyson hairdryer .

PiggyPigalle · 07/11/2024 21:11

Anything electrical, the only exception being the Soya Milk kettle. I use it twice a week to make Tofu, but I'd try a different method instead of spending another £135.
Toaster died and wasn't replaced as under the grill makes much better toast. Not feasible in a busy household though.

I'd use a kindle app on my phone now. Much cheaper!
To answer your question tho

Kettle- essential, immediately, same day, rush order.

Electric blanket. My favourite household appliance.
Dishwasher

Oh. And I guess realistically washing machine would be up there at the top of the list as I couldn't live without it. But as I've always had one I probably don't appreciate it and it doesn't give me the same joy as sliding into a pre warmed bed every night.

Thelnebriati · 07/11/2024 21:18

My android tablet, its got all my ebooks on it and I can use it to watch the telly.

TribulationPeriwinkle · 07/11/2024 21:31

@TribulationPeriwinkle I have the Kindle app on my phone for emergencies but hate using it - it eats battery and you have to turn the page constantly.

My night guard for my teeth because I grind them. Stayed away overnight and unpacked them this evening only to find it had snapped!
Within 5 minutes I was in the car to dash to Sports Direct (before they closed) for a sports gumshield- I can't even close my mouth properly with it in but it will have to do until I can get a new one. Luckily DP is unfazed that he will be going to bed with someone who looks like they're ready for a boxing match.

EvelynBeatrice · 07/11/2024 21:35

Likewise my Kindle. Also my L’Oréal steam pod hair straighteners.

Agree way too small for me too much prefer kindle

Comedycook · 07/11/2024 21:48

Hair dryer and hair straighteners...my hair takes over 24 hours to dry naturally. I literally couldn't leave the house if I had no dryer or straighteners.

My air fryer....I use it multiple times a day...have two teens who are eating machines...it's always on!

Heated airer...I have no tumble dryer so would be lost without it

Can you link your kindle? So some reason I can’t find them on Amazon! (I also need a new one!)

DecafDodger · 07/11/2024 21:53

Kindle. No, apps are not the same.
Dyson airwrap, I can't live without it. I also have the shark one for gym and travelling, but it's not as good.
Vacuum cleaner - 2 hairy dogs, really can't do without.
Garmin watch.

Thismighthelp · 07/11/2024 21:53

Nespresso machine

AgainandagainandagainSS · 07/11/2024 21:56

AirPods (work and personal)
iPhone
Electric hob
Straighteners

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 07/11/2024 21:56

wi Fi router
glasses
Phone
prescription sunglasses
Boiler
Washing machine
Iron

All quite boring practical things really, including my sunglasses as I need them to drive, which I do a lot of for work.

CakeDream · 07/11/2024 22:00

This week I had to replace my phone and our fridge 😞

Not having a phone was very annoying even for a day. I couldn't verify the payment for the new phone purchase because I was sent a text message to the broken phone.
The fridge had to be replaced very quickly.

Giggorata · 07/11/2024 22:11

iPad, washing machine, kettle. These would be replaced the same day.

Hoover, iPhone, air fryer, kindle, cooker, boiler, vehicle, would all be replaced within a week.

okydokethen · 07/11/2024 22:26

I'd definitely buy a new Dyson hairdryer if mine broke.

oneeggisunoeuf · 07/11/2024 22:57

Kindle
iPhone/ipad
Washing machine
Heated throw

Kindle for me too. My second ever kindle is about 8 years old now and still seems to be going strong. It's a voyage and I don't think they sell one with buttons anymore so I'm dreading it breaking, I don't like touching the screen to turn the page.

I'm sure I've read somewhere on my that you can buy a clicker to change pages on the kindle.
