Celebs where you don’t expect to see them

I did a drivers awareness course today, one of the online courses where the group joins via teams or whatever it is. You only see everyone’s face and first name.
Anyway, there was one participant that after a while of thinking she was familiar, I realised she’s a TV presenter. I’m certain it was her, but if it wasn’t then this woman with the same name shares an uncanny resemblance.

I don’t spot many celebs where I live so it was quite exciting to be sharing a space with one. Even if it was that particular space. She seemed very pleasant.

Ever had any random celeb spots like that?

Why was Oprah serving you food for?

Boarded a plane fron San Francisco to LA. She was practicing for a movie role (must be 15 yrs now). Very friendly but very hyper too!

ThatAgileLimeCat · 06/11/2024 22:56

All on the same day at a theme park. Romesh Ranganathan, David Mitchell, Victoria Coren Mitchell, Sophie Ellis Bexter, Charlie Brooker, Connie Huq. Someone from Emmerdale. That was a weird day.
Dec in a hotel we were staying in.
Bill Nighy in a cafe in London.
Richard Branson, Gemma Collins and Boy George at gigs.

Just name the name already otherwise thread is pointless.

No, don't. That would be very unpleasant and unfair.

Boris Johnson and family in Costco. He had a bottle of red in each hand.
Mr Tumble at the train station, asking for advice on which platform he needed

Proseccoagain · 06/11/2024 23:01

Judi Dench walking her dog on Brighton seafront.

Literally nobody!
My grandma saw Pete Doherty in a shop about fifteen years ago. That’s the best I’ve got.

ScrambledSmegs · 06/11/2024 23:07

Years ago, in the toilets of a pub, Su Pollard asked me if there was any paper in my cubicle. When we were both washing our hands so it’s not like she needed it then and there!

.

Vinorosso74 · 06/11/2024 23:09

James Mcavoy with his child in the swimming pool. This was years ago, I think our kids were both about 2 or 3 and were playing with the same toys in the kids pool.

MyrtleStrumpet · 06/11/2024 23:10

David Baddiel in a coffee shop in Wimbledon
Billy Bragg, Ross Kemp, Bill Clinton and Kevin Spacey at different Labour Party conferences
Liz Hurley, Kelly Hoppen, Mariella Frostrup, Lisa Snowden at a wedding
Konnie Huq and Charlie Brooker at a funeral
Cecil Parkinson, Michael Portillo near Westminster
Loads of Labour cabinet members and MPs at Labour events including Tony Blair, Margaret Beckett, John Prescott and Gordon Brown
Andrew Neil on a British Airways flight.
And A C Grayling in the queue for passport control at Pisa airport. Had a great chat.

ScrambledSmegs · 06/11/2024 23:10

Oh and we saw Sarah Alexander and Peter Serafinowicz at Luton Airport, with kids in tow, trying to buy breakfast in a massive stressed rush. He really does have a very carrying sort of voice.

PainterInPeril · 06/11/2024 23:11

Saw Ann Widdicombe years ago in her local Sainsbury's a couple of times. Can't think of anyone else at the moment.

I've see Su Pollard around quite a lot! The most unexpected was the Vodafone shop.

VenusClapTrap · 06/11/2024 23:11

Patsy Palmer having her hair done in the same salon as me.
Katie Price in All Saints.
Kevin McCloud at the River and Rowing Museum in Henley.
Jamie Redknapp and Louise on a plane
Russell Brand in the gift shop at the Tate Modern.
Feargal Sharkey at a garden party.
Zoe Ball bought some plants from me at a plant stall at my village fair.

And long years ago I was working in a shop in London when a rude woman pushed to the front of the queue and tried to pay. My colleague pointed to the back of the queue and politely told her to wait her turn. She thundered “Do you know who I am?!” - neither my colleague nor I had a clue, and she stormed out. Nobody in the queue appeared to know either. Never figured it out.

Suranne Jones and her family at Center Parcs. They were in the same activity group as DS.

She pops up everywhere! She’s really lovely though, never seen her angry.

Unlike Bill Oddie, who DH saw screaming at another motorist near Regents Park.

MuchuseasaChocolateTeapot · 06/11/2024 23:16

I was on a bog standard Easy Jet flight about a fortnight ago with Chris Boardman and Sir Chris Hoy. We’d been to the track cycling world championships at were sitting next to Emma Finucane’s lovely parents (and her boyfriend, who I realised afterwards is Matthew Richards, the cyclist who medalled at the Olympics and then moved teams from Australia to UK). All very normal down to earth people!

CorvusPurpureus · 06/11/2024 23:18

Took my dad shopping in Norwich. He got bored before I was done, so I parked him with a pint in the Lamb pub.

Came back half an hour later to find him deep in friendly conversation with a bloke at the bar. Offered the bloke a pint but he said no, no he must be going...

Dad: 'what a nice chap! Really interesting!'
Me: 'yes! He seemed lovely! I always think he looks like he'd be a bit of a dick when I see him on TV'
Dad: 'oh is he on the telly?!'
Me: '...er...yeah, just a bit, Dad.'
Dad: 'AHHHH! I remember him now! Look East, right?'

Fairly sure Stephen Fry isn't needing the Look East gig.

Yes, at toddler classes! Very odd experience. You forget people from the tv do normal things like that

Edited

Yes, Sergio Pizzorno from Kasabian used to attend the same baby/toddler group I did for a while. And when we lived in London, James McEvoy and Anne-Marie Duff, who were still a couple then, used to shop in the same Sainsbury’s as us, often at the same strange hours.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 06/11/2024 23:21

I saw Robert Powell in Bromley M&S

ScrambledSmegs · 06/11/2024 23:22

Oh, and Cillian Murphy having a curry in Kilburn.
