Celebs where you don’t expect to see them

I did a drivers awareness course today, one of the online courses where the group joins via teams or whatever it is. You only see everyone’s face and first name.
Anyway, there was one participant that after a while of thinking she was familiar, I realised she’s a TV presenter. I’m certain it was her, but if it wasn’t then this woman with the same name shares an uncanny resemblance.

I don’t spot many celebs where I live so it was quite exciting to be sharing a space with one. Even if it was that particular space. She seemed very pleasant.

Ever had any random celeb spots like that?

Juliet Stevenson sat beside me on the tube recently. Helen Mirren strode past me and DH on the tube platform a couple of years ago. Interesting to see famous people in real life - they just look ordinary.

MillenialAvocado · 06/11/2024 23:28

Bill Nighy walked past me while I was standing by the bus stop outside West Hampstead station

About 40 years ago my parents, brother, sister and her family and I with my then very young DD went on holday together to Cornwall. We were in a pub for lunch. Mother (sorry never DM) rarely drank, but that day she had had several glasses of Cornish cider. A nice looking young man was at the bar witha group of friends, sitting on a bar stool and wearing shorts. Mum decided that she liked this young man. "look at his legs, hasn't he got gorgeous thighs" stroking his thighs. Prince Andrew.

James Corden in Swansea Sainsbury's, many years ago.
Lots of people in the area of Cardiff where we used to live, as it was close to the old BBC studios. Sandi Toksvig was the most memorable, as our dog jumped up on her. DH stood next to Peter Capaldi in the queue for an ice-cream in Cardiff Bay when he was in Dr Who.

I saw Sinead O'Connor years back (at the height of her fame) pushing a trolley around my local supermarket, took me a minute to realise who she was.

Parked next to Maureen Lipman in the Waitrose car park. We got back to our cars at the same time. I recognised her and she just smiled. I had forgotten that until just now.
