How to not be utterly depressed and scared about Trump winning

Is there any way at all to reframe the likely outcome of the US election? I just feel terrible this morning. Scared and angry. It's wasted energy, though. I can't do anything positive with these feelings and I'm guessing I'm not the only person feeling like this. How are other people finding ways to move out of this feeling so they aren't wasting time and energy on something they have no influence over currently?

Putin will be confident to invade neighbouring countries with terrible consequences for Europe.Trump's family support the illegal settlers of Israel who are eyeing off land in Gaza and will continue the actual genocide there.

Yeah really not comforted by anyone saying that this is an American issue. Really not the case. It’s globally significant even if you only look at their foreign policy or Trump’s (anti-) environmental policies. The signal the US’ treatment of women’s reproductive rights sends out to other countries. The lack of animal welfare. The history of fantastical lies in office. The assault on democracy invading Capitol Hill and constantly accusing others of cheating and fraud (look up DARVO).
All of it has implications for other countries including the UK.

There may be some silver linings in the short term although I agree he is bad news for the planet overall. He will probably at least get the US citizens, who are still held hostage by Hamas, out of Gaza. In the immediate future he could be good news for Israel but over time he of course poses as serious a threat to democracy as Israel’s enemies.

For women's rights? Look what is happening to women in the US. They are being reduced to walking incubators.

He has already stated he will be removing all support they give to Ukraine. We know he supports Putin. What happens when Putin decides to expand his attacks further? What happens if Putin takes against the UK? What happens if Trump takes against the UK?

It also shows the world that having a felon and liar at the top of the command chain is obviously acceptable. It makes truth even less important. Think of all the little Tommy Robinson supporters who will follow his lead.

I also have people I love who will be very directly affected by this.

I can understand feeling scared, and I myself am very disappointed with the result, but angry? That's what happens in a democracy, everyone has a right to vote in accordance with their own views. Stamping your feet when it's not your preferred outcome doesn't change anything.

A friend wore a t-shirt yesterday that simply said "not in my name". She was turned away for wearing a political slogan. NONE of the many men in the queue wearing MAGA hats were turned away. This is just the start. Read what he has said he plans for the next year and tell me it's hysteria.

Trumps said he's going to stop the Russia Ukraine war. Why should Americans have to keep funding it? Do you honestly believe trump intends to invade the UK?
