I'm really trying to stay up but I'm going to struggle and suspect I won't know anything more than I do now anyway.

The FT have a very pleasing graphic showing all the results come in.

I'm watching the BBC too but it's not as clear.

Where are you keeping up with the results and what are you looking out for in particular?

Georgia think they're going to declare imminently which is a bold statement, I can't see how they'll manage it.

Whatever happens, KH has made massive inroads of which she should be proud. I agree with what you’re saying about not being a great candidate, which indicates a better pick could have a decisive win even if not white male… especially against Trump. We have issues with getting decent candidates in the UK. It seems worse in the US.

You would think, with 350M people, the two parties could field a decent, intelligent, likeable, earnest person who would be an asset to our country. One who knows the word compromise and who wants what's best for the country and not their pocketbook or special interest group.

Heck, I was a better choice than the two that ran, and that's not bragging but a sad reality. LOL!

You seem to be a massive fan of Trump.

You seem to be looking for an argument.

Very true. Jimmy Carter was like that though and while I don't know a lot about his presidency he's not seen as very successful.

Yes. The only way in fact.

Presidency House Senate and Supreme Court. And Elon Musk to handle the conspiracy theories. The autocratic states of the world must be looking on in envy. BBC say intelligence agencies really concerned about being seen as enemies as Trump still berates the ‘deep state’
I cannot see a way back into power for the Democrats for several electoral cycles after this.

When people are desperate for a secure job, and money to feed their families and pay the bills, Ukraine, gender ideology, womens rights etc are just not on their radar.

What do we suppose the alternative would be?

experts in various fields select a leader based on an assessment of expertise, qualifications, and crisis management skills.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/11/2024 18:18

Who appoints these "experts"?

There are 7 main 'swing states', that means each election they switch- whereas other states pretty much stay the same. The swing states theoretically could 'change the result'.

The google election thing here shows the 'swing states' down the side.

Each state has a different amount of seats - so some swing states are worth 15 others worth 5..

The FT election thing here shows 'what the state was' and 'what it is now - and the number of 'seats' by boxes

I think a few years ago Hilary got 'more votes' but 'less seats', so - it might not be clear for a while.

I am scared for the erosion of women's rights - as where they lead we follow

Where the U.S. leads, the U.K. follows? Oh, I hope not. After all, you abolished slavery first.
