Any one else with a favourite song from the nineties that no one else remembers?

Mine is Operaa House by Malcolm McLaren. I spent many a happy hour being driven through New Zealand as a kid torturing my parents by singing along to this and Aria on Air but no one I’ve meet seems to know of it. Still absolutely adore it as an adult but sadly no better at singing it.

Space...Who lives in a house like this? Is 1 of my favourite...it appeals to my very weird sense of humour.

I went to school with Jamie who was in Space, they come from round here. I think the album was called “spiders” and it had a bloody big tarantula on the front cover of the cd that I had to cover as I’m petrified of spiders.

”in 999 they make a living from crime, the house is always empty cos they’re all doing time” love it!

This thread has got me searching for songs from the era (even heard a bit of Westlife for the first time in yonks).

Forgot how beautiful this song is. Isn't it Sharon the lead singer? She's amazing.

I've got two;

Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy

Alanis Morrisette - You Oughta Know.

Both brilliant songs.

Oh come on 🤣🤣🤣

I see you all, as I raise you Counting Crows Mr Jones

If you want to hear Mr Jones several times in a week listen to absolute radio. I hate that song with a passion! Do like Colorblind though.

"This is how we party" by Soap. Gives me a lot of nostalgia of a family holiday to Anglesey, I think 1998 or 1999.

I jumped into this thread so fast singing this exact song!! 🤣

I loved Kenny Thomas. He does seem largely forgotten which is a real shame

He is doing a 6 date tour just now.
He also has a daughter who has been really ill with a rare condition.

Loulo6098 · 02/11/2024 02:06

That song with Destiny's child and that guy from Coronation Street (or one of those soaps).

I think it's called 'She's gone' because I kept singing 'she's gone, OHHHWA OHHHWA!'

Long wave... Atlantic 252!! Ah used to listen to that in the bus what a tune.

Prince - most beautiful girl in the world

The levellers - just the one

I remember space - the female of the species etc

And jamouriquai!

So many good tunes on here

Was the Space recording of The Female of the Speices a cover version?

On Standby by Shed 7

They are touring next year and I really want to go. The friend I always went to see Shed 7 with died in 2010.

Was thinking about going on my own but pretty nervous....

mumisfull · 02/11/2024 04:01

Waves of nostalgia here and I love it..

I'm adding in (and waving at any friends who'll recognise me instantly!)

Monsters and Angels - Voice of the Beehive
Faded Glamour - Animals that Swim
Ballroom - David Devant and his Spirit Wife

mumisfull · 02/11/2024 04:03

Oh and Saturday's Not What it Used to Be by Kingmaker. That one's a belter!

Glorious by Andreas Johnson. Late 90s but brings back a lot of memories for me.
Not many people remember it when I mention it.

I loved this !!

Ah, yes, I see it was the original . I was getting mixed up with a Walker Bros song from the 60s with a similar title not the same song !

LongLongLiveLove · 02/11/2024 04:22

Kenny Kravitz- Fly Away

If You Buy This Record- The Tamperers Featuring Maya

I'm trying to recall the title of a song sung by an Irish band, starting "I've noticed you around. I think you're very attractive....Would you go to bed with me?" Really bizarre song with a catchy tune!

Someone mentioned it already - Would you...? by Touch and Go.

They aren’t Irish but Would You…? by Touch and Go. I’m going to have that stuck in my head now.

RatitesUnite · 02/11/2024 05:17

Mistadobalina. 30 plus year earworm and I don’t even like the song.

Atlantic 252! That was my childhood right there.
Just another day without you was such a massive part of a lot of my childhood memories. It was played a lot. Brilliant song!

Also Hazard by Richard Marx!

Rolypolyfishheads · 02/11/2024 05:44

My Favourite Mistake by Sheryl Crow. Fantastic song that you never hear anywhere anymore.

They used Fly Away on an advert (for a car, I think?) Great song.

The person who mentioned Chris Isaac earlier in the thread- he’s in a very early episode of Friends.

The Renyolds Girks - I'd Rather Jack
Tatu - All the things she said

Tatu was early noughties I think

Definitely had that vibe that music was ‘changing’, anyway.
