Why is Metanium nappy cream suddenly out of stock / unavailable everywhere?

Is that the yellow stuff??? Used to be brilliant for nappy rash

TribulationPeriwinkle · 31/10/2024 17:22

Yes! It’s the best nappy rash cream by far.

I have been trying to get hold of some of this for about a month now! They seem to have been replaced with something called metanium everyday, but it isn't the same. Our remaining yellow tube is down to fumes at this point.

Some on Ebay.

TribulationPeriwinkle · 31/10/2024 18:06

Yeah, there’s some online if you want to pay £££. But I just wonder why it isn’t available.

I bought some a couple of weeks ago from Home Bargains.

BibbertyBobbityBoob · 31/10/2024 18:42

I've seen it in the shops.

By far the best nappy rash cream.

Noodlesnotstrudels · 31/10/2024 18:44

We've not been able to find it either. I've switched onto bepanthem, which I'd never used before, but I actually really like it.

Isn’t Bepanthen more of a barrier cream? Or are you finding it’s good for healing sore patches?

I got some in Tesco a couple of weeks ago.

Futurethinking2026 · 31/10/2024 21:22

Ohhh no I hope they are not stopping it. It’s literally a life saver.
The white one is nothing like the yellow.

ForPearlViper · 31/10/2024 21:31

They had lots of stock of it in Saver earlier in the week, I know because I bought some. My understanding is that this discount chain has some relationship to Superdrug so they might be worth a try.

Sandandsea123 · 31/10/2024 21:49

I thought it was just the useless shops near me!! I can’t find it anywhere other than Amazon where it’s like £12 a tube!!

It's a miracle cream. I still use Bepanthan for all sorts of things

Ambienteamber · 03/11/2024 14:23

Omg just found this thread because I was googling metatanium. I can't find it anywhere.. have checked supermarkets, suoerdrug boots.. in store and online!!
What's happened?
It really is the best cream I've used it on all if mine and now my new baby has nappy rash but can't find it anywhere. It's listed but is always out of stock

Acer1 · 03/11/2024 14:32

It must be a manufacturing thing. I dont use it anymore but I remember the same thing happening about 2 years ago for a few months when my life depended on the stuff!

I used to be able to pick it up from random little independent chemists when the main shops were OOS.

MetaniumWhereAreYou · 04/11/2024 23:32

Really annoyingly, they’ve stopped manufacturing it and have confirmed they do not hold any residual stock 😩🤦🏻‍♀️

If anyone has any suggestions for an equivalent with similar active ingredients, I’m all ears!

TribulationPeriwinkle · 05/11/2024 16:47

Oh no! That’s really bad news. Wonder why they’ve stopped.

Google suggested it is something to do with it being toxic when ingested but surely all nappy creams aren’t going to be great if you’re eating them 🙄

BoilingHotand50something · 05/11/2024 17:13

I used to use Weleda Nappy Change cream with some success.
