Jenrick as Justice Secretary Hmm

Keep him on the inside, pissing out.

Who gives a monkey's? the Tories, for the next 4/5 years are an irrelevance and with any luck wont be one after that either.

I rather liked Laura Trott, she was fantastic in the London Olympics but i thought she had retired? had no idea she was a Tory and knew a lot about education? or am i confused?

Different person 😂

One is fantastic at cycling, the other doesn't understand percentages

Kemi's shadow cabinet so far:

Chancellor - man who wants to abolish the pensions triple lock
Education - woman who doesn't understand percentages
Foreign - woman fired for freelancing policy on Israel

And that's the best they have 🫣

At least Stride’s worked in the Treasury before.

BBC news suggested it's because he's quite centre of the party and said it's interesting what that shows with the parties opinion on the latest budget.

Jenrick as Justice Secretary Hmm

She suggested he had a whiff of impropriety!

RafaistheKingofClay · 04/11/2024 19:03

Jenny Harries at the Covid inquiry on Weds & Thurs. that could be quite interesting.

MN response to student fees rising compared to the WFA thing will be fascinating I think.

There is quite a core of MN who think university should only be for their children and have distinctly 'interesting' attitudes to class, privilege and HE access.

Edited

Martin Lewis is saying that the maintenance loan will rise with the same percentage, 3.1% which is good

ofcourse MNers have no need fot that

Hope the role goes better for her than when she was actual Foreign Secretary. The embarrassment of everyone except you knowing you were sacked while in a plane in mid air would finish off a lesser mortal….

Small intervention in this thread’s scrupulously fair and balanced account of the opposition…Patel was never Foreign Secretary.

Can’t say I rate her, but she does have one of the easier portfolios: she’s up against Lammy.

You are correct, she was Secretary of State for International Development when she did her off the books shenanigans with the Israeli government. Which is really not that much better.

She's also one of the co-authors of 'Brittania Unchained', the Conservatives' handbook for turning the UK into Singapore-on-Thames. I mean, I'm all for improving productivity - but not at the expense of actual workers and their rights.

DuncinToffee · 04/11/2024 21:40

Mel Stride fits right in

Kemi Badenoch, who recently described maternity pay as "excessive", has now appointed a Shadow Chancellor who described maternity leave as "onerous" and demanded the government "seriously consider" stripping new mums of their rights to take time off work

Keir Starmer

"We will never withdraw from the European Convention on Human Rights"

"Indeed, we're proud of the role the UK played in creating that convention"

"Respecting international treaties also makes international co-operation easier, because it shows the UK is a reliable partner"

No she wasn't but she was found to have unauthorised meetings with the Israelis and was found guilty of bullying but kept on by Johnson, leading to the author of the inquiry to resign instead....

Balanced and fair enough for you?

Lammy is doing just fine, his various speeches and strong support for Ukraine has gone down well.

Electorate- we don't trust the conservative party. Votes in Labour.
Conservatives vote in known liar who has had to correct the record a number of times, who then appoints at least one person who was previously fired for breaking the rules.
Electorate. HmmConfusedBiscuit

University fees. Relative has just been awarded - not claimed for, just delivered unexpectedly - a bursary of a few thousand a year. Because he is one of the 5% of state educated students accepted this year. Five per cent. That's terrible. 95% from fee-paying schools. Just shocking.

Notonthestairs · 05/11/2024 08:25

Farage says if Harris wins she should pardon Trump to dampen down the risk of violence.

Aside from the idea that laws and the justice system are clearly meaningless to Farage, it's very 'Look what you made me do'

I don't quite understand this. What do you mean he is one of 5pc of state educated students accepted this year? Do you mean to a particular university? I'd be interested to know which uni if so.

Farrago can go pleasure himself with a gorse bush.

PandoraSox · 05/11/2024 09:09

Does Farage really think that Harris/Walz and the rest of the USA give a flying fuck what he thinks?

Sorry, but that is abject cruelty to innocent gorse bushes.

Oh I don't think he's said that for the benefit of Americans - but it's useful cover for him and the Telegraph if Trump supporters kick off. 'She could have neutralised this but chose not to'

Chris Philp is Shadow Home Sec - look forward to him facing Yvette Cooper

BustingBaoBun · 05/11/2024 09:33

This makes me so angry. Why the hell did anyone think he wanted to help them in this country? He is a piece of shit

There wasn’t much at the bottom of the barrel, was there?

He was the third person in the disastrous mini budget alongside Liz and Kwasi
