Reading this story about a door handle stolen from a cafe made me wonder what the oddest thing someone has stolen from you? I once had some of my homemade CDs stolen from me on a train. Why would you steal someone’s really obvious crappy homemade megamix with their felt-tip handwriting scrawl all over it? I hope it skipped for them on the good songs!

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cdjekzxj4y4o I hope they get their handles back!

Men in CCTV sought after cafe door handle theft

The cafe in Redfield had its door handles stolen hours before opening for the first time.

We had the parasol from our garden furniture stolen one day a few years ago!

Lansonmaid · 15/10/2024 18:58

The lid of our old Aquaroll - neatly clipped of with a pair of wire cutters when we were caravanning. And it was the old style that you can't get a replacement for. Very annoying

When I was a child we had a burglary while on holiday. Aside from taking the usual items they also stole all the towels in the house and cut off the cables of every single electrical appliance and took them. Just the cables.

Knickers, off the clothes line

A snowman!

When dd was only about 2yo we'd made a small snowman in the front garden, about 2' high, put a cloth round its neck as a scarf and an empty tin as a hat. It looked like a 2yo had helped as well.

Someone pinched it, as it put a spade underneath to remove it in one go and left a blank square of garden path underneath.

Someone stole my skipping rope when I was 7.
It had ball bearings around the handle so you got a really smooth skip.
A pupil went into the storeroom and nicked my Hamlin Book of Horror. Id brought it in to photocopy an illustration to use as part of a lesson that was going to be observed ( Yr11 Drama).

A snowman ! Blimey
Makes you wonder what people are thinking doesn't it !

Two rather bizarre incidents to report.

Toilet rolls from our outside toilet on several occasions. Pretty sure it was the postman but no actual evidence.

Burglar who broke in through our back door. Rifled through the wallet and purse on the living room table but only took the cash which was about £2.50 leaving the credit cards etc scattered about. Then left with cake and fruit from the kitchen. Found banana skins and apple cores on the drive!

LisaJohnsonsFacebookMole · 15/10/2024 19:04

Frozen chocolate cake.

Bra.

2 nighties.

All different occasions.

LisaJohnsonsFacebookMole · 15/10/2024 19:05

Oh and a half used bottle of bleach. That was a 4th incident.

Thighdentitycrisis · 15/10/2024 19:05

A dental floss dispenser

VeryQuaintIrene · 15/10/2024 19:06

As we were breaking up, my ex stole a bottle of gin, a blueberry bush (dug up) and one of our cats whom she loved. Said cat was a champ - yowled all night and peed on the floor (which he had never ever done before) and she returned him.

MoneyAndPercentages · 15/10/2024 19:06

A carrier bag, back when I worked in retail management. To be fair, stole from 'us' rather than me personally, but I had to do the disciplinaries etc!

No way it would've gone that far, if he hadn't, when challenged, gone mad swearing and shouting that it was his right as an employee 😂

bifurCAT · 15/10/2024 19:06

Broke into the car and stole half a bar of chocolate.

Fizzadora · 15/10/2024 19:07

A Garfield car window toy at the height of the craze in the 80's.
The car was locked so I never figured out how they did it.

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 15/10/2024 19:07

A veg box. I even saw them walking off with it but couldn't catch up and shouting 'stop thief!' Felt ridiculous for a few vegetables.

Daschund · 15/10/2024 19:08

Jaffa Cakes. Someone broke into our car on the drive years ago and stole box of Jaffa Cakes. I'd have given them the bloody things if they'd asked.

WeeOrcadian · 15/10/2024 19:08

NDN had his foot plate thingy nicked from his jeep-y style car, that was random

Someone (kids) once stole our doorbell - wireless and completely useless without the receiver which was plugged in inside the house

Grazyna80 · 15/10/2024 19:10

Entire cake , I left it out to cool, someone nicked it .

TypingoftheDead · 15/10/2024 19:12

I used to do night shifts and came out one morning to find someone had vandalised my car, stealing the rear windscreen wiper in the process.

midnightmeows · 15/10/2024 19:13

When I was around 14 I went to New York. I took my iPod with me and like usual headphones they had L and R on them. On the plane home I put my headphones in and realised the L and R were different to the way they were before - less faded and a different size. They were not the same headphones. It really puzzled me, the only place this would have happened would be in the hotel room, so I assume the maid must have swapped them while cleaning. No clue as to why as they were not flash or new.

Mynaddmawr · 15/10/2024 19:17

My padded comfy bike seat that you slip over your actual bike seat. It was locked outside the supermarket on my way home after a 30 mile cycle. Must have been sweaty AF 🤮 Dirty bastards

StripedTriceratops · 15/10/2024 19:18

My sister had her steering wheel stolen. They smashed the car window, removed the steering wheel, and left the car on the driveway. Most bizarre.

That happened to me too! But I had more cuddly toys in my car that they also took 🙄

didistutter56 · 15/10/2024 19:19

One shoe. The pair were together, but they only took one.
