Feels properly autumnal here so have fired up the slow cooker and a nice bit of beef is having a leisurely red wine bath. Yorkshire puddings and roasties with a load of veg for dinner early evening is the plan and I'm going to treat myself to a nice bottle of red to sip a glass of whilst prepping and doing the Sunday papers crossword.
Anyone else feeling the need for comfort food or are some of you clinging onto summer by your fingertips 😂

Love a bit of liver 😋

Love liver too. I like it very lightly crumbed. Plus kidneys in a cream sherry sauce. I am feeling all nostalgic now!

Beef stew in the slow cooker. Smells delicious.

I don’t think I’ve cooked liver for 18 months but I do like it.,

I've been inspired now! I am absolutely full of cold and decided tonight I'd make burgers with steak mince. Easy and tasty! But then reading about comfort food, my slow cooker is now on the go, containing a savoury mince, which I shall serve with heaps of dumplings! DH is now out at the supermarket, getting me some more suet as I have very little left after our stew last week!
If anyone is either replacing or buying new, I would definitely recommend a sear and stew slow cooker! Everything is prepared on the cooker top in the metal crock pot, then just transfer the whole lot into the base! This is my 3rd now, I really love them!
(In case you were thinking they're rubbish if she's on her 3rd - The first one I gave away to my friend, as we'd bought my nephew one for his wedding, quite a while in advance, then realised by the time their wedding came round, it would be out of the years guarantee! Plus it was slightly larger than our original one, my friend didn't need a large one, so it all worked out great! And the second one, DH was ham fisted putting it back in the cupboard and broke the control dial! So he's banned from getting it out or putting it back now!!!)

Just dusted off the slow cooker and making a sausage casserole with mushroom, butter beans, onions, carrots. Bit of Worcester sauce, tomato purée, oxo cubes, garlic. Made it up really

That was how I made mine the other day. Only I forgot to put garlic in it, and used pasatta, a red wine stock pot and a beef stock cube because it tasted like pure tomato. I was going to stick potatoes in as well, but the bag of potatoes I got from Aldi were absolute shite. I think I got 2 small potatoes out of it for some mash the night before and the rest had to be binned.
