Depending on who my audience are I either tell them I got my grade 4 music exam (distinction) on a recorder. Or that I grew up in borstal.

My father was a borstal master.

😂 amazing!

StressedQueen · 12/10/2024 21:23

Can't think of anything interesting... maybe that I was in a car crash when I was 13. But I generally just tend to mention the fact that I have 5 children! (7 if you count my dogs 😁)

I stopped a bullet using just one of my ears.

Good you have a second one 🫣

Education1870 · 12/10/2024 21:24

I am a Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD) researcher. However, I only have 1 GCSE. Which I obtained after I achieved a Master of Education with Merit.

Nothing terribly exciting, i have been thrown across a room when a bomb has gone off and have come face to face with an armed terrorist. I had a close personal protection team for a short period of time.
I have lived in all 4 countries of the UK and have visited every county in those countries and have never come across anyone else who has lived/visited all of them.

That's astonishing! You've visited every single county in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland? Amazing. What did you think of Berkshire?

CatamaranViper · 12/10/2024 21:32

I've done a load of extra work, including in Wire in the Blood, Harry Potter and Gavin & Stacey, plus stuff that no one has ever heard of. It's a lot of fun. I nearly went for the new 28 film but couldn't get the time off work but I kind of regret it now

california22 · 12/10/2024 21:34

Not that interesting but
I speak 4 languages
I run ultramarathons
I backpacked around India for 6 months with only a handful of possessions (bar of soap, toothbrush, flip flops and change of clothes) and a budget of £600 including flights - have many stories from that trip!

I own a collection of skulls and bones from various sources. One is called Yorick.

I've interviewed the descendant of a very controversial (but fascinating) French writer and philosopher whose name became attributed to some rather interesting things.

I design and make historically accurate costumes as a hobby. I can also swordfight on horseback.

The Marquis de Sade?

The Marquis de Sade?

Got it in one! Yes! Very interesting family.

YabaJaba · 12/10/2024 21:38

I was at the IOW festival in 1970 and saw Hendrix

Singleandproud · 12/10/2024 21:42

I don't use me but I have a famous relative that was a pioneer in the film industry and just about every one is familiar with his work so that gets the spotlight off me but most find it interesting.

If it has to be me then I tell the story of how I managed to get taken up and did aerobatics with the Jordanian Falcons and flew the plane (Jordans version of the red arrows)

TheWayTheLightFalls · 12/10/2024 21:43

I have seven passports. (It’s admin central.)

JanglingJack · 12/10/2024 21:43

BBC Horizon team contacted me on another site very similar to this (!) to take part in one of their programs . I did.

Hotdogsarevile · 12/10/2024 21:48

My spleen is on the wrong side, it’s on my right side rather than my left, which then pushes my liver into the centre.

all other organs are present & correct 😀

I'd joined a new primary school the week of a school trip and we went to a local supermarket, the staff showed us around and then there was a challenge to get past the security guard with a tin of hoops.
Some kids tried and he just stopped them by putting his hand on their shoulder and walking them back to the group.
I was convinced I'd be able the get out side with this tin of Spaghetti hoops no problem. It was in my head, my moment of glory.
So when it was my turn once the poor and (with hindsight, older gentleman) security guard caught me, I jumped on him, took him by surprise to the floor with a decent shove and ran out shouting "I won" with the tin.
The teacher was so nice about it because I was the shy new kid Until this point.
I hope I didn't wreck the poor man's back or anything.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 12/10/2024 21:51

I'm old enough not to put up with arseholes.

Loafbeginsat60 · 12/10/2024 21:57

I'm really good at pulling out stuck lambs, even our neighbours call me when they need help.

It's probably because I have small hands though!

Bitteralmond · 12/10/2024 21:58

I used to say that I have a form of synaesthesia which means names, days of the week, numbers etc have colours. But everyone used to cluster round me afterwards demanding to know what colour their name was. Occasionally, there would be a new/foreign name that did not really give me a colour experience and the person would be disappointed. I keep it to myself these days.

fourelementary · 12/10/2024 21:58

I got married and divorced in the same year

AngelinaFibres · 12/10/2024 21:58

I am my husband's third wife. First is now married to a woman. Second sadly died. We've been together 23 years , married 21 years in December. I often refer to myself as the third, and longest serving, wife .

LindorDoubleChoc · 12/10/2024 21:20

Where were you in Chariots Of Fire @MorrisZapp ? I love/d that film.

I was a child in a sailor dress in a church congregation. I had jeans on under the dress 😁 I was paid the child rate of two pounds for two days work. Handed over in cash.

Gagaandgag · 12/10/2024 22:08

We have 4 pet rats.
My sons is like his therapy pet.
They learn their names and do tricks.
They are very friendly, gentle and loving.
Had my first one aged 5 and named him
Jonathan! Now very happy to pass on my love of them to my two children!
