Recommend me a coastal town in the Uk

...where me and my two besties can sit on a balcony, wrapped up in blankets, sipping wine and over looking the sea.

During the day, we'd love to mooch around a town with lovely little shops, buy some nice things, have a few nice walks, nice food out, stroll on the beach.

Any recommendations around the Uk?!

St Andrews

StarSlinger · 11/10/2024 23:19

The best sunset over the sea I ever saw was in Cromer.

This has annoyed me a bit now .

What's wrong with 'lower class' people.

Should I not speak to someone because their family was not as wealthy as mine?

It could be anyone of us in a bad situation of poverty.

. Any family could have a father walk out on them, any of us could have been poor..

I will never see anyone as less than me or "lower class". If someone's poorer than me I treat them with kindness , not with scorn and nastiness.

Class is a nasty cruel load of bullshit

Edited

I was being sarcastic.

Cullen in the north east of Scotland by the Moray Firth.

There is absolutely nowhere in the north-east like that- nowhere at all. It is awful, grim, not a place for tourists.

Is this your deliberate attempt to keep the tourists away?
The North East is beautiful!
Going next week- can't wait!

Is that Portrush, in Northern Ireland?

I've been there. It's a nice place alright. Great views.

Yes. Best place on earth. Was there just last week (used to live there), incredible sunsets.

CliptyClop · 11/10/2024 23:25

Tenby

Stop saying that in public. Visit but don't tell anyone else about it. It's our secret up here.

Sidmouth, Devon.

I was going to suggest this too.

Pookerrod · 11/10/2024 23:33

Polzeath. Stay in a 3 bed apartment with balcony at the St Mortiz.

Yes. Remember the North East is shit.

Bookish123 · 11/10/2024 23:39

I would love to visit the NE. But if like me you can't make it there have you thought about the Isle of Man?

Touloosia · 11/10/2024 23:39

Mumbles!

Dartmouth too.

Filey

Filey is the best.

Whitby is overrated.

Zoomo · 11/10/2024 23:41

Nope can't think of anywhere 🤐

Folkestone

Hahahaha.

No.

Highonthehillsisalonelygoatherd · 11/10/2024 23:43

Amble is gorgeous too, but yeah the North is pretty grim 🤪

bodydrain · 11/10/2024 23:43

Lyme Regis

1983Louise · 11/10/2024 23:59

Whitby or Southwold, both very special places

Time40 · 11/10/2024 23:59

Oban, my dream location

Seriously? It's a bit depressing, and there are hardly any nice shops (with the glorious exceptions of The Gem Box, and Rogerson's shoes). There isn't a beach; it's just a harbour.

My votes are for Whitby, St Ives, Lyme Regis and Tenby.

ThatTipsyReader · 12/10/2024 00:06

Aldeburgh or Southwold

HildaHosmede · 12/10/2024 00:07

Touloosia · 11/10/2024 23:39

Mumbles!

Dartmouth too.

Unfortunately Mumbles is a total building site at the moment due to the sea wall improvements. Diggers and mesh fencing bloody everywhere.
