I’ve just discovered an actor from the 1940s and 50s called Randolph Scott. He was super famous then - understandably - but seems to be much less well known now. Well suffice it to say my ‘Bobby socks’ are well and truly blown off! What do we all think?

I'm watching Cat on a Hot Tin Roof as we speak. Greek god.

Well it's definitely Paul Newman and Robert Redford, no question.

But I'll add a young Richard Gere (I loved him in Yanks) and Harrison Ford in Witness.

And yes, Mark Harmon in St Elsewhere. Mind you back then I really fancied Bruce Willis...

Oh, Harrison Ford in 'Witness'.

Have you seen him in 'The Long Hot Summer' on TV, during the last fortnight?

No, I haven't. When was it made? He was at his best middle aged, I think. And such a brilliant actor.

It's been on the Beeb one or two weeks ago, so it might be on BBC I player. Made in the 60s, I should think. I think it was the film where he and Joanne Woodward first met. I don't know whether anyone would make it now. There would be a female insurrection about the way it portrays mens' attitudes to women. Ben Quick, the fire-raiser.

I think I have seen it...years ago. Made in '58, same year as cat on a hot tin roof.

Just remembered Javier Bardem. Lucky, lucky Penelope Cruz.

There was a remake with Don Johnson in the role of Ben Quick

I've not seen the original so will have to look it up

Bronguin · 12/10/2024 14:20

Richard Armitage, surely!

Tessiebear2023 · 12/10/2024 19:19

Randolph Scott is great, it's not just his looks that you like, it's his whole attitude and presence. He was a bloody good actor. I get it.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 12/10/2024 19:28

Brad Pitt in Thelma and Louise. The sex scene with geena Davis is 🔥🔥

God no. He does nothing for me.

Have you seen Paul McCartney in his younger days, in his 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s he’s bloody gorgeous. He’s still not bad for an 80+ grandpa 🤣

🤢

Callipygion · 12/10/2024 19:47

Awww @PrincessHoneysuckle don’t be mean. 😫
He has gorgeous hazel kaleidoscope eyes, long eyelashes to die for, a cute neat nose and rosebud lips. What’s not to like!

Its not his face. its his forearms. The most sexy part of most men's body in many ways but men seem completely oblivious to it.
Just the headshots were a bit meh, but the image of him with his sleeves rolled up made me see it.

YES! People always think I'm nuts when I say its all about the forearms! 😂

His face is so droopy I always think he looks like he's had a stroke!

Pupinskipops · 12/10/2024 20:37

But he's got no lips! 😂

😳😭🤣🤣
Well, he looks pretty fine in my picture.
Anyway, have you seen his forearms (and legs!). So hairy and masculine. And he’s good with his hands - he does (or did!) manual labour on his farm. I can find pictures to prove it! 😁

Clawdy · 12/10/2024 21:15

Muhammad Ali was so beautiful.
But I agree Macca was gorgeous.

Purplebunnie · 12/10/2024 21:38

@Clawdy

Agree Muhammad Ali and also have to put in a vote for Sidney Poitier, what a smile and lovely eyes

selly90 · 12/10/2024 22:08

William Shatner in the 1960s

😂😂 I will concede, that is in unusually good pic of him! 😂😂

I would step over Gregory Peck to get to this man.

... and when you got there, he'd have given you a friendly smile as he made a beeline for a nice-looking chap. I do miss him. I wonder how he would have aged.

I know , I know , if I was lucky I might've got a glass of champagne and a ciggie , but he's still my Fantasy Man
