I'm drawing a line. Tomorrow is a new start for me. I'm putting myself first for the first time ever.

Things starting from tomorrow:
I'm completely avoiding the news.
No more doom scrolling.
Deleting all social media.
Get back into running.
Stop eating processed crap.
Completely declutter the house.
Start volunteering.
Spend more time walking and gardening.
Try and find a solution for my crippling anxiety.
Stop trying to please everyone.

I’ve got an iPhone and don’t use an app for MN. I’ve browsed for ways to limit my time but if I’m not using an app there doesn’t seem to be a way?

If you're using a website on your phone or i-pad you can go to timer in the clock function, set it under 'when timer ends' as 'stop playing', then set the number of minutes and then it should just take you out of that website. Of course you can go back into it but at least it's a reminder.

Thedragonqueen · 08/10/2024 05:08

Can I join in?

Here’s my list:
-no booze week days
-get back to 10k steps a day. Did it yesterday (has been difficult as I hurt my knee last month)
-finish the book I’ve been writing
-book dance classes with DH. DD went to uni last month in another country so I need something to fill the void and he needs to get fitter so we’re going to learn the Argentine Tango (I watch too much strictly 😂)

MaggieBsBoat · 08/10/2024 05:12

So yesterday I didn’t drink (big for me) and I did 50% of the module on my online course (more than in the whole last month).

i did that by getting up early. Just like today!

Have a great day all!

AskingQuestions45 · 08/10/2024 05:31

Well done everybody!

Castlerigg · 08/10/2024 06:37

Yesterday was a fast day, therefore no sugar and no booze.

I washed the pots after dinner, spent an hour reading, and I got myself to bed before 11 pm.

Have a good day today everyone.

FriendlyFriend · 08/10/2024 09:33

Yesterday i didnt manage breakfast and did eat a load of rubbish during my danger time (getting home/before tea), but i did have a healthy lunch and dinner and managed a massive kitchen clean down and sorted/folded laundry! Even hung some out today before i left (its now raining but hey 🤷🏻‍♀️)

quirkychick · 08/10/2024 11:36

Well done, everyone! Still managed no emergency sleeping tablets (for stress) by substituting melatonin supplements and headspace sleepcasts/music. We have full-time carers in for dd, so nights not always calm and quiet!

This morning I got up, did a detox yoga, headspace for stress course, journal/to do list, school run, emails, hoovered, washing, some Duolingo. I have some leftover fish and veg for lunch, probably become fish soup and aldi chicken burgers for dinner.

I'm dabbling with this sort of thing at the moment. Have been getting help on long term minor health issues instead of putting them off.

I would recommend watching The gentle art of Swedish Death Cleaning if you are looking at decluttering.

wildthingsinthenight · 08/10/2024 16:36

This is a great thread!
Very inspiring

Fakepower · 08/10/2024 21:29

Day 2. Still no sugar/ junk/ crap.

Dh wanted a take away tonight. We had curry. I had chicken tikka and a v minimum amount of rice. Half a glass of wine. Usually I'd have a bottle.

#winning

Fakepower · 08/10/2024 21:30

Curry was after a gym class too

Wond3rment · 08/10/2024 22:34

I am about to read Good Sugar, Bad Sugar again. When I read it the first time it was miracle stuff, 10 months of clean eating. And then I got cocky and lost the magic.

Here we go!

Fakepower · 08/10/2024 23:08

@wond3rment which author please ? I'd like to read that

Castlerigg · 09/10/2024 08:37

Same, it sounds interesting.

Fakepower · 10/10/2024 03:24

Day 3 no sugar. This means no junk/chocolate/cereal bars/crisps/sweet snacks/cakes/ice cream/cream/biscuits/fizzy drinks.

Exercise has been various gym classes all week.

Wond3rment · 10/10/2024 08:28

Fakepower · 08/10/2024 23:08

@wond3rment which author please ? I'd like to read that

It’s the Alan Carr Good Sugar, Bad Sugar

quirkychick · 10/10/2024 19:58

I do eat low carbish. I'm not strictly meal planning, but am being organised about food. Yesterday, I did weights and am nearly back to pre-virus levels, today was restorative yoga. A lot of meetings today, so not as many steps, but I regularly do 10-15k and go by my average.

Wond3rment · 10/10/2024 23:10

My sh1t isnt getting sorted, though I resisted a takeaway that I was really craving this evening so it’s very minor win I suppose.

Superworm24 · 06/10/2024 18:29

I will be starting tomorrow. How are you finding it? I did it years ago and then built my way up to running 10k regularly. But I was so ill during pregnancy that I was pretty much bed bound the whole time. Running with your DC sounds lovely, I want to eventually get a running buggy and take my baby out for park runs.

@Superworm24 (hope you are super
strong too!) I have done run 1, run 2 is later today :) I am really overweight at the moment, 16 1/2 stone when I am comfy at 12 1/2 and so I was very slow. But I did it! And it’s lovely being out with DS who is 10. We laughed lots going round. Might even join park run on Saturday morning as the social bit appeals. Like you I also used to be much fitter. I did lots of bike/run/swim, was building up to do a short triathlon but then exh and I split and I had no child free time. It’s been like that for 8 years now hence the extra 4 stone 🤣

The running buggy sounds brilliant- that’s how I got into running in the first place when ds2 was little. I did so much walking up and down hills with him that I thought I might as well try running too and it was absolutely fantastic. Good luck x

Fakepower · 11/10/2024 08:45

Day 4 no sugar. I lost 2lb this week and then gained it again in the same week. FFS. I did an exercise class last night and an hour of power hooping. I am eating lots of lean meat, no carbs. The loss then gain again has made me so pissed off, I am almost tempted to get a mcds breakfast ... but I am holding off. I have my period atm, maybe that is the reason for the gain.

I'm all or nothing and cannot even have 1 biscuit as I will then eat another 6 or 7.

quirkychick · 11/10/2024 14:33

@Fakepower I have pretty much given up with scales, they are quite a crude measurement. Inches and muscle are a much more important measurement. Period could just be bloat. 4 days no sugar is good!

FFairysteps11 · 12/10/2024 10:16

Please can I join in?! Probably everyone has heard by now that I've been demoted/promoted to single (delete as appropriate) 😉
I would like to:
Start some exercise. A class maybe or couch to 5k in the dark?
Have a plan instead of just flailing through life
Stop reading break up stories and find some successful break up stories
Find my confidence and start horse riding again
Sort out my back garden (again)
Get a new job
Learn to love me
Stop smoking (my mum passed, my dad moved to the other side of the world and I'm now single so feeling slightly lonely and I reached for a cig)

Georgelassosthemoon · 12/10/2024 11:27

I still need more fun and laughter.

I’ve been continuing with the diet. I’m doing the 800 cals a day Michael Mosely diet and finding it’s working well for me so far. Down another Kilo.
I missed my volunteering this week due to a hospital appointment but I spent a good few hours out in the garden which always helps.
Continued with the CBT for anxiety.
Saw the nurse who agreed my referral to the National Exercise scheme so waiting to hear from them.
Read Rivals again ahead of the TV series as that is a real comfort and fun read.
Went to a painting class.
Things with DP are middling at the moment. I have some decisions to make but I’m going to give myself time and not rush it. Trying to keep things light.

I think it's the perfect time of year to reinvent yourself and find that confidence again!

I'm doing c25k, struggling to fit the runs in but I'm keeping positive and not just giving up because it isn't going perfectly to plan.

Horse riding sounds fun, when did you last go?
