Fact remains... JK is the reason they are famous.

As @MissScarletInTheBallroom said

They clearly don't have minds and opinions of their own. That's why they're parroting the meaningless mantras that are currently fashionable in the circles they move in. Because it's more important to be popular than to be right.

This 100%! They are woke little sheeple.

The fact remains... Joanne has a career based on professionally identifying as gender ambiguous and a male.

She's happy to play around with pronouns when it suits her bank balance and ego.

Anyone who doesn't agree with me can't POSSIBLY be thinking for themselves!
It's because they're woke! Sheeple!
Lol, listen to yourself.

@AutumnalCosiness it's not that she's done anything particularly bad compared to some on this thread, I just find her quite mercenary and exploitative towards older people with her adverts on ITV3 for life insurance, and view her as similar to Gary Linekar with her political opinions. She is entitled to have them, but seems to think her opinion is more valid/important than anyone else's. I remember on election night, she was on a programme where she gave some sort of speech against the tories, which seemed rehearsed and full of faux outrage. I also dislike her cosmetic surgery (nothing personal).

I do find her current anti tory stance quite intriguing when she was working for them 15 years ago https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2009/feb/01/carol-vorderman-maths-conservatives
Does no one else remember her excruciating appearance on BBCQT at the time?

Actually I thought of one so obvious that I'd forgotten it. Liz Truss. She used to seem halfway sane for a Tory, 10 years ago

And David Cameron. I liked him til he did Brexit and then resigned whistling.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/10/2024 23:25

Do you think she's trans? You should really do better then. Don't be gatekeeping now.

TofuTart · 06/10/2024 23:20

Yes, they starred in a film about a book she made and got famous on the back of it.
So what?
Why does that mean "they're ungrateful little oiks" just because they had the audacity to disagree with her views?!
Should they just blindly agree with her because of that? They "owe" her?
Where does that stop?
Madness.

Well they don't have to be beholden to JK Rowling forever, but to stab her in the back and throw her under the bus, just so they can appear 'woke' and 'right on' and popular with the lefties and the luvvies is pathetic and nasty.

Emma Watson saying 'to all of the witches .......but one...' like she said on stage a couple of years ago was nasty. She clearly meant she is not acknowledging the woman who is the reason she is famous.

Emma Watson would be nothing without JK Rowling, as she has little acting talent. She is so sickeningly rude and ungrateful. Hmm (And the others from Harry Potter are too!)

No, I think she's a hypocrite. Hope this clears it up x

Not really - acceptance without exception x

"little brat"
She's a grown adult woman in her thirties.
For feminist viewpoints the "GC" stance is anything but feminist.

RVEllacott · 06/10/2024 23:28

Hunnymonster1 · 06/10/2024 15:04

He wore a t shirt that said some people are trans get over it and some of the usual terfs hate him now. Because he dared and stand up for trans kids as he has one that's how sick this argument has got

"Trans kids"? No child should be told they've been "born in the wrong body" and the way to sort it out is to take drugs and have surgery. It's wrong and thankfully increasingly discredited. Any person in the public eye who promotes this is deeply irresponsible.

She is still a little brat. And an ungrateful one at that. Her attitude towards JK Rowling is disgusting.

You keep banging on about her being a 'grown woman in her thirties.........' 🙄

WTAF has that got to do with anything? You can be a grown woman in your 30s, and still be rude and immature and ungrateful, and yes, a brat!

.

Boxofstars · 06/10/2024 23:29

Meghan Markle.

When she got engaged to Harry I thought she was going to be good for him and the royals. I did think it was odd he went for a older divorcee though.

I have been with a older controlling person and i can spot a controller miles away and that is what she is.

Her first husband seems a really calm dignified man i bet he has been offered hundreds of thousands for his story.

Hunnymonster1 · 06/10/2024 15:10

Jk Rowling loved Harry Potter can't stand it now she's ruined all that with her absolute unhinged attacks on the trans community.
Elon musk giving mega money to republican party now which makes no sense when you think he makes tesla cars and they are anti environmental stuff including electric cars
Ricky Gervais I used to like but feel he tried to hard with comedy and it's nit great anymore
Can't think kf anyone else atm

Could you please quote her exact words in which she says something "unhinged" about trans people?

Hmm thought not.

How are you a little brat in your thirties?
You're an adult.
You're being really obtuse pretending it's not meant as a patronising put down, especially in the context of a thread that's referring to her as a child.

Hunnymonster1 · 06/10/2024 15:15

Been really good to see the bigots out themselves on here though not liking the truth it seems aww

If you look up an a dictionary what the word bigot actually means, rather than what you think it means, you will realize immediately that you are one.

Because it means somebody who cannot tolerate other people having a different opinion to them.

RealHousewivesOfTaunton · 06/10/2024 23:32

I used to think Prince Harry was a decent, down-to-earth sort who did something really good with the Invictus Games. Turns out he gazes so far into his own navel that he doesn't seem to appreciate that he's one of the most privileged people on the planet, or that slagging off your own family for cash makes you a bit of a twat.

Bollocks - she has a career based on writing good books that people want to read. The name on the cover of the books is irrelevant. Would you say the same about the Brontes, George Elliot, PD James, AS Byatt etc.

Exactly this. JK is enormously popular - and respected across the world. And she has sold millions of books, and she fights for the rights of women.

Some posters don't seem to like her fighting for - and supporting womens rights.

I wonder why? Quite the puzzle isn't it? 😆

Purplebunnie · 06/10/2024 23:36

Moonshiny · 06/10/2024 23:01

It's very common knowledge that JK was chosen to hide her feminine name to appeal to a wider audience. Not very feminist of our dear Joanne is it.

And then Robert Galbraith? It's almost like she she prefers to identify as gender ambiguous or male because she doesn't think women sell books.

Edited

I always though the JK was to mimic JRR which again would lead one to suppose the author was male

Maybe work was good for him at that time?

I would never blame anyone for someone else’s behaviour or addiction

Yeah, bit harsh that one.
He did go to rehab several times.
If he felt well enough physically and emotionally to go to work in between treatments/when he was sober, how exactly is it his workmates fault?
You can't be held responsible for someone else's addiction and behaviour.

Isn't it supposed to be "brat summer" or whatever and that's great? Even Kamala Harris got in on that cringily, like Theresa May dancing up to the podium that time.

Calmomiletea · 06/10/2024 23:54

Many, many!

Frankly, if you're a comedian, actor or other celebrity - I don't need to know your political views. OK, everything is political in a sense, so sometimes this is understandable - eg Chris Packham or David Attenborough expressing their views about the environment - but please spare me the party-political stuff. It just amounts to virtue-signalling and self-righteous preaching. I like Emma Thompson as an actor, but oh boy, her preaching puts me right off. If you live in Islington and also Venice, then the problems which affect most of us will not affect you. So, so many luvvie lefties who preach - send their darlings to private school! How do they square their hypocrisy with their preaching???

Sandi Toksvig - I haven't liked her for a long time. I used to, when she first came on the scene, but she is too politcal for me. And interestingly, I used to thing she came over as a thoroughly 'good egg', but I worked with someone who'd been bullied relentlessly by her at school and still got triggered by catching sight of her on TV! I would never of thought that of her, but it just goes to show you can never tell.

I agree for the same reasons..

Emma Thompson, Meryl Streep.. used to love the latter as an actress, now I can't even stand her.

Definitely Blake lively after watching her dreadfully rude interview with the journo.

Robert de Niro, the idiot. Numerous reasons for him.

AimieDaisy · 06/10/2024 23:54

I gained respect for Ricky Gervais after his Oscar speech.

Gained respect for JK Rowling.

Edit to add, I’m going a fondness for Taylor Swift and Elon Musk too (despite some of his wacky ways), despite never being keen on either.

Another shocker. I used to despise Pauline Hanson but even that’s changing now.
