There are currently quite a few I have lost respect for, who are yours and why??

OP posts:

The attacks on JK Rowling are laughably pathetic. Is that the worst you can say about her? She’s “old” (so will you be one day love if you are lucky) and by using her initials she’s “pretending to be a man”. Many writers use pseudonyms it’s an established conceit.

Been whispers about him for ages, and also seen a video where he's being interviewed on some show and the whole time he's staring down the top of the woman next to him. Apparently he's quite handsy from what I've heard.

Not sure if the full story will ever come out, so no idea if he's a Schofield or a Prince Andrew.

Edited

I'm sure it will all come out when hes dead. He gives me creepy vibes.

Moonshiny · 06/10/2024 23:01

SabreIsMyFave · 06/10/2024 22:54

No she hasn't. Daft comment. 🙄

The majority of her works (including all the Harry Potters) were JK Rowling.

NOTHING implied this was a man FFS.

.

Edited

It's very common knowledge that JK was chosen to hide her feminine name to appeal to a wider audience. Not very feminist of our dear Joanne is it.

And then Robert Galbraith? It's almost like she she prefers to identify as gender ambiguous or male because she doesn't think women sell books.

What did David Tennant do?

Stood up for people who are trans.

Dave Grohl, thought he might actually be a decent guy.....ah well.

Every time I see your username, my mind replies "tomorrow's not soon enough for me"

I guess that makes us both old (even though I can't even remember what that film was about!)

ThisHangryPinkBalonz · 06/10/2024 23:04

AutumnalCosiness · 06/10/2024 22:15

Why?

He's turned from a grounded good guy to drinking and partying lots, getting fined for pulling sickies and turned into a man-whore since ditching his childhood sweetheart. I'm disappointed as he was one of the very few footballers, who I thought was a good role model.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/10/2024 23:04

Someone who wouldn't mind if your boring trans debates went back to where they're supposed to be. Hidden away in FWR.

So sorry to disappoint!

Yep, clutching at straws aren't they?

If she DID try and hide that she was a woman, so fucking what? She knew how bigoted and misogynistic the world of literature was/is, and that a female author would very likely not be taken as seriously as a male one. So she put an ambiguous name so no-one would know whether the author was male or female!

She didn't do it because she's not proud to be a woman, or because she dislikes women. Some posters really are fucking dragging shit out of the bottom of the sewers on this thread to try and discredit JK Rowling. Utterly PATHETIC!

!

Ooh ooh I'm going to have a guess! 😁
She's very vocally anti Tory on Twitter.
Probably someone cross at her for "being too woke" (like that's ever an insult lol)

ToWhitToWhoo · 06/10/2024 23:06

One thing that really bothers me about the trans debate, is that some people seem to think that it is ALL that matters for women's rights; and that it's perfectly OK for politicians to try to restrict women's roles; limit women's educational opportunities; limit reproductive rights; suck up to the likes of Trump and DeSantis; etc., if they have the 'right' views on this issue.

I don't know if one should call them 'celebrities', but such people as Kemi Badenoch and Miriam Cates come to mind.

Thankfully, I think[could be wrong] that the @hero@[and I dont use that term lightly@, that should be speech marks but my keyboard refuses to do them, worship of celebrities, has somewhat dimmed. Thankfully.

Could you have accidently pressed the key combination that changes the kb from UK English layout to US English layout? Happens to me quite regularly.

JK is the main reason these young people became rich and famous. Dreadful little oiks - all of them

😂

They're grown ADULTS in their thirties.
With minds and opinions of their own.
It's utterly ridiculous to say that you have to blindly agree with your old "boss" just because you worked for them well over twenty years ago when you were basically still a child!

oldmanandtheangel · 06/10/2024 23:11

Lily Allen for sure

Telling women to shut up, also calling people a tiny bunch of little whinging fuckers, when for someone who is pint sized and whinging about women's rights is rather ironic really.

TheaBrandt · 06/10/2024 23:12

Heard Carol on Woman’s Hour think she’s great she’s making a real pain of herself to greedy politicians. She’s tipped into the “I’m too old to give a shit” category which was liberating to see!

CassieMaddox · 06/10/2024 23:14

Mine are probably all on a theme of men who turn out to be sex pests/"unwise but not illegal"
Jonny Depp
Michael Jackson
Huw Edwards
Thomas Oliver
Kevin Spacey

Always thought Schofield, Di Caprio, Pitt, Harris, Saville, Brand and R Kelly were dodgy anyway.

In terms of women, any of a number of feminists I previously admired who seem to like Tommy Robinson or stand up for peoples "freedom of speech" to go to TR rallies.

I agree with this: "I suppose my other line in the sand is support for Trump or Farage; but people, whom I respect in the first place, are unlikely to turn round and support them."

They clearly don't have minds and opinions of their own. That's why they're parroting the meaningless mantras that are currently fashionable in the circles they move in. Because it's more important to be popular than to be right.

I remember Radcliffe saying in an interview that he didn't really care that his male friend was a racist. It's only "unkind" women who should be shunned, patronised and scolded.

Many women, myself included, won't have an issue with trans women. I am all for people living their authentic selves, but not at the expense of actual women. Unless they have fully transitioned they shouldn't be in womens spaces, and they should never be in womens sports. If they have committed violent sexual crimes against women, they shouldn't be in womens prisons.
I am friends with 3 trans women. 2 of whom have fully transitioned. They are "normal" (other than all have depression, 2 have anxiety and 1 is autistic), and don't actually hate biological women like many trans women in the Twitter/X/Tik Tok sphere seem to.

It's a small vocal minority that are ruining it for the vast majority.
They all know that genetically they are biological males btw.

Even if they have had their genitals mutilated they shouldn't be in women's spaces.

Yes, they starred in a film about a book she made and got famous on the back of it.
So what?
Why does that mean "they're ungrateful little oiks" just because they had the audacity to disagree with her views?!
Should they just blindly agree with her because of that? They "owe" her?
Where does that stop?
Madness.

I was disappointed in her, she's turned from being on countdown and magical at numbers to lots of articles about how happy she is sleeping around with toy boys and being rear of the year / social media being half naked. Don't get me wrong, good on her if that makes her happy but she was a better aspiration for females when she was concentrating on her academic abilities rather then aesthetics.
