OP posts:

This is a great thread. Let's all dwell on our negative emotions, you know, really reinforce those negative thought patterns, and get that physical stress response kicking in - increased heart rate, blood pressure. Great

Marcus rashford

Why?

They are literally among the most famous people in the world, how are they not celebrities?

I think they’d disagree with you on the celebrity part. They and most British people see them as royalty and public servants.

Dara o briain for being mr science & it’s all about the evidence & science doesn’t care about your feelings

Whilst saying he finds the gender debate “confusing”

bollocks he does - he’s just a coward

Lots if apparently "clever" men are really confused poor dears. Alastair Campbell I'm looking at YOU!!!

Carol Vorderman
agree with Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson
Gary Linekar

Not that I particularly respected any of these people in the first place, but Carol Vorderman seemed like a reasonable person back in her Countdown days.

What's Carol done?‽!

Bloody hell maybe David Tennant was reading some of the interminable circular discussions about trans people on Mumsnet going on and on and on and on, round and round and round about trans/cis/bathrooms/hard won this that and the other when he said what he said.

I'm as GC as they come, but seriously, can't you all just piss off back to FWR and have your little argument over there? There's a reason most of us have that echo chamber hidden. Because listening to you all squabbling over trans vs women is BORING.

RamsaySnowsSausage · 06/10/2024 22:28

Justin Timberlake after the cheating on wife allegations, the Britney revelations and then the drink driving.

I'm sure he couldn't give two shits about my opinion of him.

But, in my maladaptive daydreams, I was in love with him for a while...but he's just your everyday egotistical cheater.

😂😂😂 it’s ok… at least now we know @MadeleineMummy is a bored bloke in his mums spare room (see other comments from him about women having penises etc)

💯This 100%! ^

Feel free to not read this thread as well then. People have opinions and are entitled to voice them when and where they see fit, whether you find it boring or not.

worcesterpear · 06/10/2024 22:31

@AutumnalCosiness it's not that she's done anything particularly bad compared to some on this thread, I just find her quite mercenary and exploitative towards older people with her adverts on ITV3 for life insurance, and view her as similar to Gary Linekar with her political opinions. She is entitled to have them, but seems to think her opinion is more valid/important than anyone else's. I remember on election night, she was on a programme where she gave some sort of speech against the tories, which seemed rehearsed and full of faux outrage. I also dislike her cosmetic surgery (nothing personal).

Why the hate on the best British male tennis player in generations Andy Murray and the accomplished, successful actress Sarah Lancashire????

I think the poster's list was of the few celebs she DOES respect...

The thread has the potential to be interesting. Why shouldn't i read it? It would be interesting if those who just want to argue round in circles about trans/women's rights would just piss off, anyway. It's always the same argument every single time anyway.

Read it, don't read it, up to you. You can't tell other people, who were already posting on it, what they can and can't post. Well you can, but expect them to tell you to jog on.

Errrm, I'm pretty sure the women defending women weren't the ones who started all the nastiness. It was the 'cis women' calling us all bigots, for DARING to say that we respect JK Rowling for her stance on womens rights.

How rude are you?! Hmm

The chances of me - and many others on here 'pissing off to FWR' now (as you so eloquently put it!) are ZERO! How DARE you tell us how to post? Who do you think you are?

!

I thought that at first too but then I reread the first sentence, which says, "I can't think, at the moment anyway, of many 'celebs' I have any respect for." followed by a list?

Exactly! I don't know who the F that poster thinks she is! Hmm Fecking cheek!

Paperpensanddustmotes · 06/10/2024 15:21

JK Rowling for building a career on inclusion and acceptance and then wizzing all over it when it made her enough money... and then using another male pseudonym to shill her work despite being all for 'women's rights' ... not to mention the racial stereotypes in her work.

Dave Grohl for pushing the whole 'nice guy' act.

100%

Funny how she's built a career basically identifying as a man.

The thread is still interesting, it's you who is moaning about how boring people who are voicing their opinions are, womens rights are important, so people will speak about it whenever and wherever they like. I and others won't just piss off because you say so.

The debate affects women generally in society and therefore it’s a bigger discussion that just being hidden away. It’s something all women need to be aware of imo.

Women’s rights being eroded and the issues regarding safeguarding have the potential to impact all women so it’s a debate we need to get out there.

No she hasn't. Daft comment. 🙄

The majority of her works (including all the Harry Potters) were JK Rowling.

NOTHING implied this was a man FFS.

Not 'lost' respect, but have always the creeps at Gareth Malone, because in an early episode of The Choir they were auditioning for the female lead and there was a very pretty little slip of a girl with a poor voice, and a more sturdy red-haired girl with a great voice, an Alison Moyet type... and which one did GM want as the lead? The little pretty!

And when he was overruled by everyone else who had ears to hear, he was really sulky... the poor red-haired girl had to chase him down after the performance to ask him how she did, and he was really graceless and dismissive. So seeing him hailed as some sort of egalitarian music hero now makes me go 'Hmm...'.

Oh dear. That has totally wrecked my previously good opinion of Gareth.
