Sally Phillips
Joanne Harris
Stephen Fry

I am a cis woman but I have no issues with trans women which must be very hard to feel like you are not who you should be all your life.

And how do you feel about disabled people who feel they've been born in the wrong body? How can they change reality by repeating a mantra?
You're right,no one on here speaks for all woman:and nor do you. So it's reasonable to accept most people, both men and women, think sex trumps gender in terms of safety, privacy and dignity. And for those who struggle with their born reality, politeness and third spaces can be a solution, right up to the point when you are compelling speech, and at that to be denying reality, and people's boundaries. But the aggressive "no debate", and the ignoring of boundaries, has created more heat, and until people, especially most women, feel safe again then the heat will not disappear.

I agree with Russell Brand, I used to love him shudders I bought his book, my booky wook, used to love his stand up. Fancied him 🤢

My sister gave me his book as a Christmas present the year it came out and I read it in two days and laughed out loud. I thought it was so honest and so funny, loved watching him on TV too. I went off him when he started posting all that conspiracy stuff on YouTube and then when the appalling revelations came out I even questioned what was wrong with me for not spotting it. I always thought Micheal Jackson, Saville and Rolf Harris were really creepy and made my skin crawl but never got that vibe from Russell Brand.

Congratulations on your transition, @Hunnymonster1

How long did it take for you to think you pass?

Since women are transwomen, and all...

You do know Saville is dead?

What difference does that make? I am not certain if my abuser is dead or not. It would not make a difference to the trauma I continue to manage in my 40’s. Honestly, how ignorant can you possibly be. The survivors of Jimmy Saville are highly likely to still be managing the trauma. It is a challenge enough knowing my abuser was believed on a small scale. I cannot imagine what is like to have your abuser considered a saint by general public. I have not forgotten all the nasty comments about the survivors when the news started filtering though the mainstream news. I shall not be forgetting those who jumped on the bandwagon to mutilate and manipulate innocent children especially those children and young people in Care and with SEND. They are as guilty, if not more so than the TRAs, Medics and other professionals. They are child abuse apologists.

Calling me trans don't bother me i an comfortable in my own identity not to give a rats ass. Also being called cis doesn't bother me doesn't take being being a woman . If you r so shallow that these things bother you then that's more about you

Vergus · 06/10/2024 18:11

Actually can I also add to my list - Simon Cowl, who looks like he’s made entirely of wax and wants to take over the world. And that awful David Walliams - who thinks he’s the second Roald Dahl but churns out dreadful books that nobody likes. Again, I’m not entirely sure where his talent lies - has he found it yet? Is there any there at all?

I get that Novak is unlikeable, but I can't fathom why people would dislike him simply because he didn't want a certain vaccine put into his own body. He's an athlete. His body is his livelihood.

Anyway, there are plenty. Yes to all the woman haters already mentioned.

Agreed, I actually feel more respect for him declining the vaccine in the face of all the criticism. However I wasn't happy with him trying to bend the rules and sneak into Australia on a technicality.

TheaBrandt · 06/10/2024 18:13

Concur with the trans rights sycophants- Watson and those scrawny lads, they would
be nothing without JK Rowling.

Any powerful men with a partner 15 plus years younger.

Also anyone nepo babying their average offspring looking at you Kate Moss and Cindy Crawford

Michael 'only Welsh actors should play Welsh people, but I am playing yet another English/american/insert nationality of choice person' Sheen

Did he really say that? He was 'bloody' brilliant as Brian Clough too.

ToWhitToWhoo · 06/10/2024 18:16

SchrodingersParrot · 06/10/2024 15:22

The first name to spring to mind was Boris Johnson - but then, I never had any respect for him in the first place.

Ditto!

I did lose a lot of respect for Tony Blair.

WimbyAce · 06/10/2024 18:18

JohnTheRevelator · 06/10/2024 17:19

All the Harry Potter child stars - Daniel Radcliffe,Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. OK,I'm not saying I had massive respect for them in the first place,I was fairly indifferent to them, never having been a Harry Potter fan,but the way they behaved over JK Rowling's remarks about transgender issues really pissed me off. Ungrateful little brats.

Edited

Agreed, in my opinion I think they have chosen their narrative based on how it will sit best with their future career options. It seems to be a typical trendy stand from their generation. Basically they clubbed together and threw the person that made them under the bus, absolute trash. None of them particularly talented either.

ChilledBeez · 06/10/2024 18:20

I don't understand that either. Maybe at the very beginning but not so much now as many young, fit athletes have had all sorts of medical issues resulting from the vaccines - not to mention a lot of turbo cancers that go from stage 1 to stage 4 in months. There seems to be stories on this issue virtually every day now.

deeahgwitch · 06/10/2024 18:21

Free Gear Keir.
I too was naive and thought he'd be a breath of fresh air for the UK after the last shower.
I thought he'd be a statesman.
Not a politician.
I was wrong. Sad

On the other hand my heart sank when Simon Harris was made Taoiseach in Ireland but so far so good.
He certainly talks the talk.
Keeping my fingers crossed.
He didn't come from privilege, he started out in politics fighting for rights for his brother and others who are autistic, he's fairly newly married to a nurse and has 2 small children.

Scrambledchickens · 06/10/2024 18:23

fully support JK Rowling and Sharon Davies, really respect them for standing up for women’s rights, women only spaces and fairness in sport.
All the others just try and play the popularity game.

Add Martina Navratilova to that list

Sadly, yes he did

What has Marcus Rashford done? I've had a quick Google and couldn't see anything

I dont like the way he got rid of his childhood sweetheart who kept him grounded to become a man- whore.

Drinkdrinkduuurink · 06/10/2024 18:27

She was abusive. Very abusive. And leaving shit on the bed, vile.

They were both at it, but she also came across as extremely unlikable.

*for some reason I didnt quote the poster. This was in regard to the woman who lost the case with Depp.

I don't need to answer you at all not going to engage with you but all I will say stop speaking as if u speak for all women we don't all agree with you at all judging by the thanks I am getting many are quiet because you know the gender critical voices are big on mumsnet

@Hunnymonster1 you started this debate yourself, in fact, and now it’s not gone your way you are “not going to engage” 😂

”Thanks” 😂 is, as others have pointed out, a tragic basis of an argument.
You’ll be on Facebook next, “look at all the likes I’ve got”.

Nobody here, no GC hive mind as you put it, takes issue with trans individuals.

We take issue with when the non-genuine cases that then try to impose their beliefs on everyone else, at any cost. Particularly to the cost of “cis women” like us.

It’s just “women” by the way. That is all

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 06/10/2024 18:29

Sandi Toksvig, David Tennant, Margaret Atwood, Philip Pullman, for the reasons people have already mentioned.

YellowSundress · 06/10/2024 18:00

Yep. He only "won" because the case wasn't about whether he abused her per say, it was about defamation.

She acted terribly, but he was absolutely abusive - the messages between him and Paul bettany were vomit inducing.

But he has better lawyers and the media was on his side so loads of people think he was vindicated and a poor innocent little victim.

He is foul.

*didn't quote last time. He won because the jury worked.

letiton · 06/10/2024 18:32

There isn't much point in looking up to celebrities, admire a persons work but most of the time their public persona is just that a persona. I reserve my admiration for people I actually know to be good and decent people.

CheeseandWine91 · 06/10/2024 18:32

Used to love Lostprophets growing up and Ian Watkins but now can’t even listen to the songs 😪makes me sick!
