Card games, board games for teens and adult get-togethers

Want to have a game night round the table, remember doing this with my family when younger and used to love it. Will have friends and their teenage DC's, just wondering what are your favourite card games, board games or anything that can be played with a group that everyone will enjoy. Thanks!

Bought a little game called Ecosystem Savanna for Ds last Christmas - it’s good fun, quick to pick up, and there’s a woodland and coral reef version too.

I love Carcassonne, Quacks of Quedlingburg, Wingspan, snd 7 Wonders. That’s probably them in ascending order of complexity too.

Sounds fishy was a hit last new year with a mix of teens and adults.

Poetry for Neanderthals. Daft but had us laughing a lot.

This is brilliant!

3doughnutproblem · 05/10/2024 22:19

Just remembered bingo, might have to play that again

Scrawl is really good - you have to draw something, pass it round and then the player next to you has to write down what they think you've drawn, then you pass that round again, and the next player has to draw what you've written. Goes on till you get back to the beginning, and you show everyone what's been drawn/written. Really funny.

We played endless rounds of the card game 'Bullshit' with our teens on holiday- just a regular pack of cards and an excellent poker face needed.

Shithead?

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 05/10/2024 23:01

Five crowns
Skyjo
Ticket to ride - we have the europe version.

mac111 · 05/10/2024 23:22

@notnorman
Maybe? Lay down cards in numerical order - state what you're laying and if the other players don't believe you they call bullshit? Is that the same game?

Zebracat · 05/10/2024 23:29

We are obsessed with Ticket to Ride, Europe. Takes a few goes to get the rules and speed up but it is just lovely

Owlettele · 05/10/2024 23:29

okayhescereal · 06/10/2024 08:03

Dixit (beautiful game, kinda same premise as cards against humanity but stunning to look at and not rude)

Colt express (build a 3d train then act out bandits on it trying to steal loot and dodge the sheriff)

Telstrations (same as scrawl I think)

Chain reaction (lots of mini challenges for 2 teams to complete. Particularly great if there's a large crew of you)

Articulate

Rhino hero (for up to 4 players, you're building a house of cards together and balancing your hero on top. Highest hero wins)

Joking hazard (you make a comic strip of pictures, funniest suggestion wins. as rude as cards against humanity)

Taco, cat, goats, cheese, pizza (fast moving, good fun, gets vicious)

VictoryOrDeath · 06/10/2024 08:03

Oh, I got two names slightly wrong earlier, but others have also recommended them -
Monopoly Deal
Six Second Scribbles

We often have a games night with the three of us 💛.

fernsandlilies · 06/10/2024 08:21

Cascadia- lovely game, best for 3-6 players, and each round is over quite quickly so you can decide how long it lasts.

Betrayal at House on the Hill is great fun for older teens but takes a while to play out.
