Not suggesting he is responsible for their deaths but.....

They lived in squalor, the toilet and bath were both unusable due to being filled with rubbish so they used pots and buckets instead. He knew that the mother left them to go to the local shop and appears to be fine with that, and describes her as a "good mother". WTF?!

Two sets of twins in under two years and where the hell was he? Even in a strong team working marriage that would be a struggle, but a single mother doing it.....

I am not making excuses for her. What she did both before their deaths and in what caused their deaths was inexcusable. But if you knew that your childs other parent was struggling to that extent then you should step up, and if you dont know then you are not involved enough in their lives to know that they are living in filth.

He isnt directly responsible for their deaths but he is surely guilty of neglect?! How the fucking hell has not been charged with that?!

Kyson, Bryson, Leyton and Logan (unknown order) died in a fire at their home in 2021

Mother guilty over fire deaths of four sons

Deveca Rose's two sets of twins died in a house fire while she was out shopping.

I am sorry that my posting this has caused you such pain, you obviously have close connections with the family. It was not my intention to do that.

My issue isnt with this father in particular but with the fact that in every neglect case, the focus is on the mother. Personally I find that misogynistic. As if only the mother has the requirement to care for kids and dads can leg it.

I am not racist. My black (legal, divorce on going) husband and my mixed race daughter will both tell you that.

You might not be a racist but your ill informed, ill judged post has open the door for commentary with racist undertones.

I don’t know them, any more than you do. Have a think about that brainwave.

Viviennemary · 03/10/2024 22:32

How can he be blamed. He didn't even live in the house.

Seriously? He just had sex and left her to it! He is just as responsible. You can't move our and absolve yourself of all responsibility and duty. If he were living with them this never would have happened.

takealettermsjones · 03/10/2024 23:12

What a completely devastating situation all around. May God bless those poor boys.

Busybeemumm · 03/10/2024 23:13

There are pictures of him with the kids so he did have contact with them. Surely he must have known the state of the house and suspected that the mother wasn't coping.

Eightdayz · 03/10/2024 23:14

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 03/10/2024 23:10

Why wasn't he aware?

He fathered the children and buggered off.

He should have been aware of how his children were living.

Maybe because she blocked him from having any contact with them. Did you read any of the related articles?

Anyway... still his fault right...

LocalHobo · 03/10/2024 23:15

THE GRANDMOTHER GAVE A STATEMENT SAYING THE MOTHER HAD BLOCKED FATHER AND PATERNAL FAMILY FROM CONTACT - AND THAT DAD & GRAN HAD REPORTED CONCERNS TO SOCIAL SERVICES.
But he described her as ' overall a good Mum'. Does this stack up?

My post was about a mother, again, being blamed for the neglect and death of children who have TWO parents and the father not being held accountable, again.

It has nothing to do with race or sex but everything to do with the fact that every child has two parents and one of those parents does not get to simply say "nothing to do with me, they were living with him/her" when something bad happens.

crumblingschools · 03/10/2024 23:16

If he knew that she left them on their own where was he? He knew where she lived. How much was he giving her in maintenance, maybe they might not have needed to live in squalor

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 03/10/2024 23:17

So what if she blocked him?

Unless there was a non contact court order that should not have prevented him from showing an interest in his children lives.

Now there will be baying for blood of whoever social worker had to deal with this, and the father will be absolved of any blame.

Boobygravy · 03/10/2024 23:18

What this tragedy does is highlight the all too large burden placed on so many women who are literally left holding the baby.
Men in general do need to be held accountable for the health and welfare of their dc.

No one said it was his fault, but that he did have a responsibility and he didnt step up to that. What she did was squarely on her shoulders, no one is suggesting otherwise.

Absolutely appalling. She is the lowest of the low. Utterly thick and useless. I hope she never sees the light of day. However I fear she’ll be be a mother again one day. Those poor kids. As for the father. Words fail me. Where was everyone else? School? Social workers? Neighbours? The house sounded like a cesspit. Shocking.

She had MH issues, show some compassion for her too

If you read the articles... he tried. And was persistently thwarted.

But hey. Carry on kicking a bereaved parent.

What a stupid comment. So everyone who disagrees with you must "have close connections" to the family? What are you on about?

At first I thought this post was in good faith, but it seems that you're just using this tragedy to make some broad weird point about men.

imtryingtoleave · 03/10/2024 22:36

after they split he went on to have another child fgs

Baby daddy.

So predictable and depressing.

Four Twins so close in age would be hard work for the most disciplined and assiduous mothers.

For a feckless woman , just appalling that social workers signed her off.

What the hell are they playing at?

The woman, once freed will have more neglected kids, no doubt.

Where did you read that about social services?

She refused to engage with social services who seem to have shrugged their shoulders and said, ok that's all right then.

Well I read it as being quite emphatic from someone who was connected to the family, and I would rather apologise than ignore. My grandfather used to say "Better to say sorry when you dont need to than not say sorry at all".

And yes, it was about a certain type of man in general. And I think that you know that.

That’s so awful if true.
Social workers should be legally allowed to check a house when children’s lives are at risk.

Lessons will doubtless be learned ( sarcasm)

Poor kids must have been terrified.

Your posts are dripping with misandry. Yet another man etc. Your bias is showing.

You suggested plenty in your OP

"but he is surely guilty of neglect?! How the fucking hell has not been charged with that?!

He's not been charged because there's no evidence to suggest it. There was an extensive investigation. But you don't give a toss about that cos ya know. All absent dads is evil. End of chat.

I'm bowing out not. You have a nice night.

They are. Thanks to my delightful STBEXH being removed by the police for physical abuse, I had a social worker who checked the cupboards for food, the kids rooms for beds and bed clothes, the bathroom etc. But sadly I have learned from MN that due to the lack of care placements for children, the standards have dropped to appalling standards.

Unconscious bias is why.

You're viewing the father negatively. Without any facts to back it up.

Edited

The fact that he did nothing to help his children while they were still alive speaks volumes.

No idea why 🤣

Because your demonising a bereaved parent for fucks sake.

Maybe don't start threads if you only want people agreeing with you.
I'm glad at least a couple of other PP noticed the real intent behind your posts.

You should hang your head.

Do try and keep up.

He did. The mother blocked his attempts. He and his mum reported her to SS several times.
