Flying from Dublin airport and ideally looking for somewhere within about 3 hours.

Two adults. Would like somewhere that’s easy to walk around, nice restaurants, bars, and sights.

Going for either three or four nights.

People rave about Malaga

Davros · 01/10/2024 14:32

Agreed, it is a good time to visit Venice

Londonmummy66 · 01/10/2024 14:35

Malta - wont be hot but should be pleasantly warm, lots to do and can fly direct.

ifonly4 · 01/10/2024 14:37

Berlin and Budapest are every to walk around and fairly flat.

Edinburgh is a bit hilly, but all the main things in walking distance. I think literally all the buses pull into Princes Street, so easy to travel around if needed.

frozendaisy · 01/10/2024 14:42

Rome

halava · 01/10/2024 14:43

Malaga with a day trip to either Cordoba or Granada. Or a trip up to Caminito del Rey if you are not faint hearted!

Delightedbeyondmeasure · 01/10/2024 14:48

Poland for great spas and great food!

TeaandHobnobs · 01/10/2024 14:56

Florence or Siena

WorldMap24 · 01/10/2024 15:08

Seville. We went early November last year - the weather was perfect for exploring the city, and we absolutely loved what the city had to offer

Knackeredmommy · 01/10/2024 15:27

Malaga or Nice

JaneIves · 01/10/2024 15:28

Marrakesh.

Nap1983 · 01/10/2024 15:34

Myself and DH had one of our best ever weekends away in Malaga. Easy to get about, has lots to do, lovely bars and food at much more reasonable prices than the like of paris, Rome or Barcelona. Also beach, marina and old town/castle all easily accessible by foot. Would highly recommend!

Vienna, Innsbruck, Geneva, Salzburg, Montreux, Munich, Berlin, Edinburgh, London, Budapest, Prague, Amsterdam, Luxembourg, Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Copenhagen, Malmo.

Wouldn’t be against revisiting but drawing a blank for somewhere new.

Edited

Palma, Majorca

Beautiful city and easy to get around

I used to agonise about where to go as I had such little annual leave, that I didn't want to waste it on going to place I didn't like.

and I would also ask recommendations. But you can only really decide if you like a place by going there. As everyone's opinions are different.

and if you think, you will always have time to visit more places in the future.

i liked
Barcelona
Malaga.

it looks like you haven't gone there yet.

5128gap · 01/10/2024 15:58

Tirana, Tallin, Villniers, Budapest, Valletta.

MarkWithaC · 01/10/2024 16:08

Riga is beautiful, and has a river and a park running right through it. Amazing Orthodox churches too if you're into church architecture.

I'm currently yearning to go to Florence. I think Oct would be a nice time for it.

For autumn trees/nature, Heidelberg or somewhere else with access to the Black Forest?
Or Bordeaux or somewhere in that area?

Not quite Europe, but Istanbul?

Granada, for the breathtaking Alhambra but also because it's a lovely, human-scale city with lots of good places to eat and drink and, again if you're into churches etc, some fabulous churches and monasteries.

Lubljana is beautiful, friendly, cosmopolitan, again human-sized and nice to walk around. An hour on the coach to Lake Bled or to Radovljica, which is a small town but has a gorgeous medieval town square and surprisingly fascinating museums of bee-keeping and alchemy/pharmacy, among others.

Málaga or Porto.

Nannyoggapple · 01/10/2024 16:16

I mean you could go to any city in Europe.

And everyone on here will have different opinions of every city.

So just pick one!

underused · 01/10/2024 16:19

Malaga
Seville
Valetta
Cadiz

AvaJae · 01/10/2024 16:20

Den Haag.

Maastricht ( amazing therme nearby).

A bit more gritty, but with an amazing food market, Rotterdam.

CoffeeWithHer · 01/10/2024 16:27

My parents rave about Porto and looks fabulous for a few days.

We’ve booked Palma for our February getaway (just had to google that yes, it’s a city 😳) Budapest is also on my list - amongst most of the others you’ve already been to!

Hoppinggreen · 01/10/2024 16:28

Seville
The answer to this question is always Seville
