What toy do you refuse to allow in the house?

Here it’s slime. There’s no need for it and it’s just a load of mess. I don’t want it all mashed into the carpet which my 9 year old would do. He is the type who would also leave it somewhere, then staining and ruining stuff

Toy guns that look like real guns. Why anyone wants their child to play with a toy AK-47 or whatever is baffling to me.

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 25/09/2024 14:47

Anything that looks like it needs 4 AAA batteries.

You know it's going to be noisy.

I agree. I don’t like camouflage clothing either.

Toy guns.

I'd also say no to slime, and a drum kit

🤣🤣🤣 as a mum of two toddlers I can confirm this is true

blotchyskin · 25/09/2024 15:02

Bouncy balls and guns

whiteroseredrose · 25/09/2024 15:04

Felt tipped pens. Get everywhere

Wendysfriend · 25/09/2024 15:04

Glitter was never allowed here 😂😂😂 I use to tell mine that shops only sold it to schools and people who worked in them.

mumonthehill · 25/09/2024 15:04

Guns of any type including nerff! Also what i wished i had banned were those sticky people things that you throw and stick to walls!

Sunshineclouds11 · 25/09/2024 15:05

Guns and slime also!

geoger · 25/09/2024 15:09

Play Doh and Nerf guns

Danikm151 · 25/09/2024 15:33

Peppa pig- she’s an annoying little git

toy guns- we have water guns in the garden but no to a gun that looks like a gun

Sinisterdexter · 25/09/2024 15:36

I have a nephew who wasn’t allowed toy guns when our ds had them.
Very smug about not encouraging such things.
My dd is a gentle person working in an office.
My nephew is a soldier. 🤷‍♀️

TickingAlongNicely · 25/09/2024 15:37

Anything with no off switch
Bushems

alltablenochairs · 25/09/2024 15:38

Bunchems and kinetic sand are banned in this house

DragonflyRuby · 25/09/2024 15:39

A recorder. Not a toy really but it’s a hard no!

hiredandsqueak · 25/09/2024 15:40

Guns or any toy weapons, they built them from lego or used any stick they got hold of and improvised instead.

LittleMrsExhausted · 25/09/2024 15:43

Mines is also slime.
I relented once and it was proven why it is banned.
Dd got it as a gift so felt rude saying no. She left it sat in a container on the windowsill in the roasting hot sun and the thing exploded all over my kitchen.

I was cleaning slime for days. 😭

DancefloorAcrobatics · 25/09/2024 15:43

Nerf guns, kinetic sand and glitter.

My DC are older teenagers now, they have survived and seem reasonably normal.

Poundshop · 25/09/2024 15:48

My husband enjoys shooting and goes to shooting alleys etc.

I hate guns and am actually really frightened of them.

Dh gave ds all sorts of Nerf guns, replica weapons etc.

I wasn't happy about it but I thought banning made the items more appealing.

Ds is grown up now, but he still likes going to shooting ranges.

He didn't grow up to be a serial killer, but I still don't like guns.

ANiceCuppaTeaandBiscuit · 25/09/2024 15:51

Slime and Play Doh, the stuff is a nightmare to clean and leaves grease marks everywhere

RightSedFred · 25/09/2024 15:54

Guns or anything else resembling a weapon.

Not that fond of slime or glitter either, but at least they don't glorify killing.

tsmainsqueeze · 25/09/2024 15:55

Furby
Bunchems

spiderdave · 25/09/2024 15:58

Small lego (we have lots of the big duplo stuff)
Marbles
Anything that flashes and makes loads of noise, like those firetrucks where you can never seem to locate the off switch!

FragileWookiee · 25/09/2024 15:58

Lol dolls. Slime.
